The Final Countdown 1980 720p BluRay x264-CiNEFiLE

Here is another CiNEFiLE’s HDRip pre today. “The Final Countdown” is a 1980 science fiction film about a modern aircraft carrier that travels through time to just before the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. It was directed by Don Taylor, and stars Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen,  James Farentino and Katharine Ross. Seems to be a good SciFi movie, give it a try.

PLOT: It is 1980 and the USS Nimitz puts to sea off of Pearl Harbor for routine exercises. After encountering a strange storm and losing all contact with the US Pacific Fleet, nuclear war with the Soviet Union is assumed and the USS Nimitz arms herself for battle. However, after encountering Japanese Zero scout planes and finding Pearl Harbor filled with pre-World War II battleships, it is realized that the storm the Nimitz went through caused the ship to travel back in time: to December 6th, 1941.

Amazing movie. I watched back in 90’s when I was younger and I adored it. Though I’m sure the passing of time will made it lose its touch I’m sure the younger generation will appreciate it for a quite interesting plot and overall atmosphere.
Since this is the 720p version would love to rewatch it in that quality if someone will provide a set of rs links :)

Not the Philadelphia Experiment. The Philadelphia Experiment didn’t happen, because the Government said it didn’t and who want to accuse the Government of being liars?

For those who want to know, it was a attempted time travel experiment that went, as the oft used phrase goes, terribly, terribly wrong. The end result: due to miscalculations, humans fused with metal and became part of the ship.

But this didn’t happen because the Government said it didn’t.

Well, anyways, The Final Countdown is one of those films that is truly underrated and is one of the best sci-fi films of 1980, after Empire, that is, and I’m surprised that it’s out on Blu-Ray. I shouldn’t be surprised really, CALIGULA is also out on Blu-Ray.

    Well, enjoy!!!

Yep, loved this movie when I was a kid. I’m sure it will look pretty dated now but I’d watch it again. Give it a shot if you like older sci-fi. If you don’t know how hot Katharine Ross was, you’d better check her out!

Missed this film having being born in 82, never caught up with me, just watched it, the storyline is still brilliant to this day, this is the kind of film that deserves a remake!

No, the Philadelphia Experiment was all about the government trying to “cloak” US Navy ships. The second time they tried it they apparently teleported the ship. It did not go back through time.
