The Experiment-ViTALiTY

A very unusual game which goes by a catchy name The Experiment was released by ViTALiTY. The group which is still on the war path with RELOADED was first to pre this specific title, which appeared on the shelves of videogame stores already a week ago. It’s almost impossible to specify the genre of this game, as it doesn’t really fit into any category. The Experiment has no protection at all, so you won’t have to hassle with cracking it.

Over sweeping cliffs and across scenic coastlines, this innovative shared adventure be gins in the bowels of an old, dilapidated ship grounded ashore. Mysteriously, you find yourself in the ship’s operations room faced with a highly advanced panel of controls, surveillance monitors, and a wide array of sophisticated technology. As you watch the monitors for other signs of life, you discover a woman. Unable to find a way to communicate with her directly, you realize that you are her only hope. She needs your help.

The problem is, you too are being held prisoner by an unseen captor. Soon you come to realize that the only way to escape is to help one another. But… who are you? Who is she? Why do you control both your fates? Is escape from this floating prison your only goal, or is there a more cryptic scheme?

Game features:

  • Unlock a powerful story revealed through vivid flashbacks and shocking plot twists
  • Each character has independent attitudes, notions, and fears requiring you to build trust with the other character and overcome human and environmental challenges.
  • As Lea’s extended eyes and ears, explore every corner of the eerie ship scouting the path ahead for unseen dangers and enemies.
  • Strategically employ high-tech surveillance equipment to solve ingenious puzzles including : the ship’s intranet, full 3D rotation cameras, light intensifiers, heat detectors, thermal vision, and even cameras on remote control vehicles

System requirements:

  • OS: Windows® Vista™/XP
  • Processor: 1.5 GHz Pentium® 4, AMD® Athlon® or Equivalent
  • Memory: 512 MB of RAM
  • Video: 64 MB Graphics Card, Supporting Vertex and Pixel Shader 1.1, Compatible with DirectX® 9.0c Sound: DirectX® 9.0 Compatible

    That’s how they’re trying to get teenage boys to buy the game. The high cut on that one-piece she’s wearing makes their intentions obvious. Can anyone tell us, is it worth it? Are there shower scenes etc?

    i got stuck a couple of times.. she just stands in a certain point and does not move anywhere anymore…

    and i don’t know if it’s because of a bug or not, but i cannot get past the door with a hole in the floor, where she obsessively asks me to turn on the lights but then just gets stuck…

    February 15th, 2008 | 19:16

    @31

    Not sure is Norton is blocking it or not. You could try Deamon Tools to mount the .iso, it’s a very good program [i think most posters here will agree ;-)]

    You could also try disabling Norton when you mount the .iso. I’m *allergic* to Norton, so I’m not really up to date with the latest features that it has, but it could be scanning all your accessed files and believe that the .DLL file is dangerous

    If the MSDN article from #41 does not work, try to…

    Install Deamon Tools, or try to reinstall ultraiso and/or open iso, they will probably recreate the correct registry entries.

    quite risky doing the following..:
    RESOLUTION
    Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
    2. Locate and click the following value:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers\VDD
    3. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
    4. On the Edit menu, click Add Value.
    5. Type VDD in the Value Name box, click REG_MULTI_SZ for the Data Type, and then click OK.
    6. The Multi-String editor appears. Leave this entry blank and click OK.
    7. Quit Registry Editor.

    i will just install deamon tools

    Because ‘they’ believe that people whom play these adventure games are not serious gamers and, therefore, are probably running 10 year old rigs (without DVD drives)…lol

    I kid you not.

    IMO, this game looks really interesting, so I’m gonna try it.

  50. bugs3479
    February 17th, 2008 | 08:36

    finally foun dout why it sometimes crashes: there are triggers (like short-circuits) that must be triggerred at specific moments… if done any earlier, the game just does not recognize that you already did it, and prompts you to hit that trigger over and over again… pretty stupid, since the french version was released moths ago… and pretty stupid since i actually got stuck for good in one of these bugs somwhere about 75% through the game…

    so if anyone’s interested in my rating, it’s not gonna be more than 6/10… would have been a 9/10, but the stupid unfixed bugs killes all my fun…

  51. Whatever
    February 17th, 2008 | 19:15

    Finished the game, liked the story and gameplay although she moves slowly.

    PROBLEMS:
    1. BUGS BUGS BUGS, constant restarting thankfully it autosaves a lot also a lot of memory leaks in the game.

    2. The game has no real ending, it seems like you are finally going to get a ending and then it just throws you from the current area to cutscene in a totally different place barely explaining anything at all… This really made me pissed off…

    3. The game has a very unstable framerate on my computer atleast.

  52. Bob
    February 17th, 2008 | 21:11

    Game works fine for me, gameplay is quite enjoyable; This is gone game that really should support multiple monitors.

    cant you just burn files into a cd? i also use a mac and there is a utility for doing that. if you extract the iso and then burn it, the cds/dvds might not work. this happens specially with installer cds. but then again, thats on the mac. hope this bit of info helps though.

    interesting game by the way. downloading now.

    thanks.

    @61
    - The medical unit is on the 2nd deck. To get there, go to the outer deck, then to the front-side of the outer deck. There’s a staircase on either side, climb up (use the one that on the right side of the ship because the other way is blocked - which you’re going to unblock once you’re up there on the 2nd deck).

    this is definitely a nice game. very unique.

    @62
    - Mount that file with Daemon Tools, then install.

    Go to the (poop deck) stern/aft/rear port/left staircase of the ship on the outer deck, show the area map, choose 1 level up on the map (upper right corner, arrows up/down) activate the lamp on the 2nd upper deck.
