The Devils Own 1997 720p BluRay x264-SiNNERS

Here’s another fine movie to add to the HD collection starring Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt in a fairly old thriller; The Devil’s Own. The ratings are rather low on both IMDB and RT because a lot of people felt that the cast had greatly affected the plot of this movie, which may be true as Harrison Ford got the supporting role next to Brad Pitt, so decided for yourselves if you want to watch.

Quality: Pretty standard quality for a 720p release; AC3 5.1 audio and a nice bitrate of 4891kbit/s for the video.

A thriller about an IRA gunman who draws an American family into the crossfire of terrorism. Frankie McGuire is one of the IRA’s deadliest assassins. But when he is sent to the U.S. to buy weapons, Frankie is housed with the family of Tom O’Meara, a New York cop who knows nothing about Frankie’s real identity. Their surprising friendship, and Tom’s growing suspicions, force Frankie to choose between the promise of peace of a lifetime of murder.

    Anti-IRA propaganda?

    You’ve obviously never been knee-capped, or had a loved one blown up.

    Seriously? The Devil’s Own? This movie was terrible when it was fresh, it’s not like wine where it’ll get better with age. Post GOOD movies if you’re gonna post old movies. Just because there’s a Blu-Ray doesn’t make it a better movie.

    This is a n00b question!

    BluRay sources have either True-HD, DTS-HD, AC3 or DTS, audio sources.

    So True-HD & DTS-HD have to be transcoded to 640kbps AC3 or 1.5mbps DTS.

    My question is that can True-HD be transcoded to 1.5MB/s DTS? And would it be considered a nuke under the hd-x264 tdx scene rules.

    Also is True-HD -> DTS transcoding preferable? Is this type of transcoding encouraged?

    Sorry these are n00b questions, answers are much appreciated!!

    @11

    I saw a 1.5MB/S DTS track on a release, trasncoded from DTS HD or True DH and it wasn’t nuked but i can’t recall which movie.
    My guess is the higher bitrate you have the best quality you have, but of course a conversion also means some loss along the process.. It would require good sound system to check the differences.

    Id rather remove the rule for a 6,5 Gb release, its a waste of 1/2 Dvd.. IMHO Let’s just have DVD5 or DVD9 rls :p
