Well TiMELORDS have brought us this great flick in the high definition it deserves. This was probably one of the greatest natural disaster movies I’ve ever seen and with its $125,000,000 budget, I would expect nothing less. Some great CGI in this one and seeing all the water and ice in 1080p gives you a very realistic feel of the movie.

Quality: Its 1080p so is it even necessary to talk about quality? Its all here, great bitrates and DTS audio is what you’d expect from such a big release.

This movie takes a big-budget, special-effects-filled look at what the world would look like if the greenhouse effect and global warming continued at such levels that they resulted in worldwide catastrophe and disaster, including multiple hurricanes, tornadoes, tidal waves, floods and the beginning of the next Ice Age. At the center of the story is a paleoclimatologist (a scientist who studies the ways weather patterns changed in the past), Professor Jack Hall (Quaid), who tries to save the world from the effects of global warming while also trying to get to his son, Sam (Gyllenhaal), who was in New York City as part of a scholastic competition, when the city was overwhelmed by the chilling beginnings of the new Ice Age. In addition to all of the other challenges Dr. Hall faces, he’s also going against the flow as humanity races south to warmer climes, and he’s nearly the only one going north…

    This movie really does not have alot to do with global warming. About as much as Godzilla has to do with evolution and radiation hazards.

    Still it is an amusing flick with nice fx.

    I too hate the mkv format but rather than converting mkv files is there anyway of downloading a mp4 or avi file instead?

    an .avi with these specs whouls be like 30 gigs, if the XViD or whatever container could even handle it. mkv is mp4

    All these movies have been on TV this week, I gave Die Hard With A Vengeance a miss until the hi def appears.

    Only a couple of good moments in this rubbish film though.

    Use PS3Video9 to convert x264 to an MP4 files… takes about 5 minutes on my PC and the files play perfectly on PS3.

    I don’t think you can do it for 1080p files though, as the PS3 has a file size limit of 4GB afaik

    happy to be proven wrong tho…

    8 You can use PS3video9 by red kawa or gotsent that i use just use google but both have problems converting 1080p from what i last read but gotsent i have never had a problem with 720p

    Liking all the Blu Ray Rips but links just aint coming

    The “point of no return” is 2015, you’re 3 years off.

    this movie was made by the same people as independence day. Independence day was a much better movie imo, it’s here on rlslog it was released a couple days ago.

    Also made by the same people is 10000 BC. Hope a dvdrip/bd comes out soon

    You can use MKV2VOB which is FREE to transcode mkv x264 to a format that will play on the PS3 and it will still be in 1080P

    You can then transfer the file to the PS3 internal harddrive which has no limit (the external drive is limited to 4GB as its fat32 the internal drive is not fat32) using WMP11 or tversity or twonky

    You should change the info about the movie. Their NFO clearly states that the bitrate is 9 Mbit, not 12 as you stated.

    Just connect your PC to your TV and watch it like that. Burning this to a DVD wont help you, I guarantee you that your DVD-player can’t play h.264.

    At 31 I would use ConvertX to DVD as shown here. Its very easy to use for someone starting out.

    But don’t download HD rips if you want to only convert to regular DVD’s as its a waste of bandwidth & you can’t retain the HD quality anyways. I would only download XVIDS or DIVX’s for that purpose. Hope this helps………..

    Too bad they couldn’t have gotten better actors with the budget this movie had.

    @adamr. I agree, convertxtodvd is good. Set it for “slow encode” and burn at 4x speed. Be sure to download from trusted uploaders. Superfundo.org is a torrent site that has a descent list of scene and non-scene groups that upload the movies in xvid.

    Screen caps should really focus on some more high quality or at least INTERESTING shots of the movie, not some guy sitting in his seat in an airplane… some of the special effects would be nice…

    My god, this movie is awful. The plot is awful. The caricatures of Bush and Cheney are awful. Quaid’s goofy impression of Al Gore’s accent is awful. Quaid, Gyllenhaal, and Rossum are all decent actors but they can only do such much with the awful script. Some of the special effects are good (it’s fun to watch tornadoes rip apart L.A.), but come on folks, we’re talking about a movie where the villain is a slowly approaching cold front.

    PS3 has no limit on VOB sizes. I used mkv2vob on transformers hd 1080p and I have a 18GB that streams fine to my PS3 using tversity. I justed watch the whole thing the other day. No Problems.

    No point getting this in 1080p as it already looks soft in 720p. I mean, just how sharp can blowing snow get? There’s the odd scene that looks far nicer at 720p than the DVD, but those are few and far between…
