Synopsis: Peter (Reece Shearsmith of the comedy troupe The League of Gentlemen) is a real wimp. He’s got a domineering wife and even a fear of moths. So how’d he end up holding a pottymouthed gangster’s daughter (Jennifer Ellison) hostage in an isolated country cottage with his brother, a hardened criminal (Andy Serkis, The Lord of the Rings) From writer/director Paul Andrew Williams, this horror-comedy is an about-face from his gritty, award-winning debut, the crime thriller London to Brighton. From the beginning, every step of Peter and his brother’s simple plan goes wrong.

    I enjoyed both this and severance equally. As long as the language doesn’t bother you (not that it should :D), I would definitely recommend this film.

    Quality comedy-horror. Lot’s of bad language, but if people cutting other people up doesn’t offend you then the language shouldn’t either. I thought this was better than Severance (which I also enjoyed).

    There is a perv-factor here. You should see this just to see Jennifer Ellison in compromising positions and kicking so much ass this could just about be considered soft porn. OK, maybe not, but she looks really good in a tight white t-shirt and pink sweat pants. Really good. I want to help her pee while tied up… There’s also some nudie bar shots that are very nice.

    As far as a horror flick? Nah, but there is some seriously brutal, bloody action in it, with one “monster” that looks and acts pretty goofy, imo. This is a comedy thriller at best.

    Not sure from the comments if this is the screener that has been out for a few weeks, or a dvd rip as the title says, but I trust pukka to know the difference. FYI: the screener has a small scrolling message every 15 minutes, followed by 10 seconds of b&w footage. Not too bothersome.

    I’m going to grab it just to take another look at the, ummm…, “monster”.

    For the film, it’s highly unpredictable and very funny (espicially if your english)

    100% recommend.

    This is definitely not the screener I had already watched. Much better ratio, sound and color depth in this one. A keeper for sure.

    I totally agree with thazandril that you would do well to check this one out. Very entertaining.

    I’m telling you that I have seen the movie more than once and it’s not a horror film.

    If you believe what rlslog tells you, then you may need a herder like me. Cute how you have to resort to petty name calling just to ask a question. That usually ends once you graduate middle school. Good luck!

    It is a comedy spiced with elements of horror and gore. It’s a comed-horror :)
    And it’s a good movie. Highly recommended.

    I enjoyed cottage but severance is far better imo.

    It clearly is a comedy-horror (just like black sheep, dog soldiers, severance etc) - just because it’s not a gorefest doesn’t preclude it from the horror genre.

    What exactly is UNRATED about this release? It’s exactly the same length (91m) as the DVD screener released about a month ago which is what was shown in the cinema.
