The Cool Kids – The Bake Sale EP (2008)
We’ve anticipated the release of the Cool Kids’ debut EP, The Bake Sale, for some time, but now that they have the backing of new label Chocolate Industries, Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks are ready to make good on its arrival. The 10-track EP hit iTunes on May 20, followed by a June 10 release to brick-and-mortar stores and other digital retailers. A new mixtape, That’s Stupid, will precede The Bake Sale with a release via the Cool Kids’ new website in the next week.
The members of The Cool Kids met in 2005 when Reed found a beat on the Internet that Ingersoll had produced. The two met to discuss terms of the beat’s sale, and eventually ended up recording for two hours. They were inspired by hip hop in the 1980s and artists like Eric B. & Rakim. Ingersoll began promoting the new duo’s material, and it was eventually booked by Josh Young of Flosstradamus for a DJ performance. At this performance (in a venue called Town Hall Pub), the duo met the electronic musician Diplo who offered to release a mixtape of their unreleased tracks titled Totally Flossed Out on his label Mad Decent, though it was eventually released on C.A.K.E. Recordings. They also received an offer from the DJ A-Trak to sign to his Fool’s Gold label, which they did, but only for one single.
Until recently, all material had been released solely on the band’s MySpace page—their recording contract came after performances at the CMJ Music Festival and Pitchfork Music Festival, on July 15, 2007. Eventually, The Cool Kids signed to Chocolate Industries, another independent label, which had previously been the label of rapper Lady Sovereign. The band has revealed on its MySpace page that The Cool Kids’ debut album, When Fish Ride Bicycles, will be released in fall 2008. Ingersoll has been the producer for tracks released thus far, but both work in rapping and production. The duo uses music software program Reason from Propellerhead Software to produce their music.
They have been on tour, opening for M.I.A. and they will be also joining the bill of the 2008 Rock the Bells hip hop festival on select dates. One of the duo’s singles, “Black Mags”, was featured in a late 2007 Rhapsody TV commercial, along with Sara Bareilles. In the same year, the group collaborated with Lil Wayne and DJ Benzi through the Internet on a track entitled “Gettin’ It”, which will reportedly appear on the DJ’s future album Get Right. The band has been featured in the video games NBA Live 08 and MLB 2K8 with the song “88″, and in the episode “The First Cut Is the Deepest” from HBO’s TV series Entourage with the song “I Rock.” They were listed in Rolling Stone’s Ten Artists to Watch in 2008.

Really guys this is a GREAT hip hop album These guys are at Lolapalooza this year. New hip hop type sound!
There is no such thing such as a 10 track EP. Get your terms right m8.Even at 6 tracks is called a mini LP. EP is a single in duration only it contains various tracks instead of remixes of 1 track
cool rls tho
@7
have you listened to the cd? cause it sounds like a single duration with various tracks and not remixes of 1 track.
LOL @ rlzlawg
But anyway, nice one, thanks.
Finally Rlslog Log some good music, has anyone else got sick of the warhammer type metal posts. Thanks

For anyone that’s heard this and Totally Flossed Out, the repeated tracks, are they identical, or remixed?
this one has 3 new tracks.
For those of you who hate Rapidshare: http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1486496/24052320/
There are only two new tracks on The Bake Sale EP, Bassment Party and Jingling, but it lacks a TFO track in Pump Up The Volume. There are three unreleased songs on their myspace (hint) and two of them are to be on the upcoming five-song mixtape “That’s STUPID”.
EP means extended play anywhere from 6-10 tracks pre-release
LP means long play anywhere from 12-16 tracks
all depending on real albums length
Muhahaha, The guy on the left looks like Steve Urkel..
Now I’m going to have to consider what to call all of my albums with either 11, or 17+ tracks on them…besides damned good music, that is.
Oh, and that demonoid link leads to what is referred to (in the nfo) as a cd source, ripped using EAC.
I also notice that some uploads contain a varied 11th track, none of which are a part of any release I am aware of. And there are some differences in the versions of a couple of the songs. Most notably, Bassment Party, to which I have two different versions at the moment. One is 3:27, the other 3:43 with different mixes (check the intros) and with different endings.
