The Bridge. What a touching title for this new documentary released by LPD few moments ago. This title talks about people who decide to end their lives by jumping off the bridge. Off the big red bridge: Golden Gate. Although not exactly Michael Moore style, director Eric Steel does a very great job here too. He basically plays with the idea that noone, not even a suicidal is a lonely person – there are always family members, friends, co-workers and other people who will be affected by your decision. One of the better documentaries out there on stanrd 1 CD dvdrip release…
People suffer largely unnoticed while the rest of the world goes about its business. This is a documentary exploration of the mythic beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge, the most popular suicide destination in the world, and those drawn by its call. Steel and his crew filmed the bridge during daylight hours from two separate locations for all of 2004, recording most of the two dozen deaths in that year (and preventing several others). They also taped interviews with friends, families and witnesses, who recount in sorrowful detail stories of struggles with depression, substance abuse and mental illness. Raises questions about suicide, mental illness and civic responsibility as well as the filmmaker’s relationship to his fraught and complicated material.

I saw this on Mythbusters as well, you end up losing legs and stuff and the water becomes like a solid.
There are a few survivors…one of which is in the film and yes you get to see about 20 “splashes” then they interview the families of the dead (without telling them that they have footage of the suicide). Its a real interesting documentary but has caused a ton of morality arguments in film.

I watched this in a theater back when it first came out. Pretty interesting flick, though if some of you download this in hope of watching some Faces of Death type stuff look some where else.
This movie focuses on the person, why they jumped, friends, family, etc. I don’t think I’ll ever watch this movie again, once was enough for me. It’s not bad, it’s just the type of flick that can run you through a emotional wringer.

well i did cliff diving from 30 meters into water and its was ok , no problem, tho i jumped in my trainers. so dont see the point of that movie.

everyone should be made to look at the stuff on the ogrish forums, we live in a society where dropping bombs on other countries is like watchin a movie (shock and awe) where sites like ogrish shows the absolute horror it brings to innocent poples daily lives. if people where made to look at those sorts of pictures shown in ogrish they might not be as dumb as to support false wars where greed and power (domination) are the only true goals. and if anyone truly believes that with the amount of money america spends on protecting itself that a few guys with boxcutters (stanley knives) hijacked planes and flew them in to buildings on 9/11 on the say so of a guy who lives in a cave needs to stop beleiving in fairy tales. unfortunatly we live in a society where we are told how to think and feel about certain issues and everything is sugar coated. so i totally agree with sites like ogrish and thank god for them. becuse if these dissapeer then you only get one side of the picture, and with only one side of the picture how are you supposed to make informed dicisions about issues that really do hurt and abuse your fellow human being.. dont beleieve the mainstream media and buy in to the mass hesteria of terrorism. the only terrorist you need to be afraid of are the ones running your country and your life.

@jack white – I totally agree with you about Ogrish(to hell with LiveLeak). I’ve been going there for 3 or 4 years now and I love it because it shows the bad side of humans that no one wants to see. I also like it because it amkes me think who precious life is(to some people anyways) and how fast/easy you can be taken out of the world.
I’ve been waiting for this to be posted…from what I’ve seen about this film, it is deeply moving.

great movie! Sad, but great… on a side note… i actually knew one of the jumpers Gene Sprague via the internet… he was a gamer and was a creator of a greatly poplular mod for the game Unreal Tournament 1999 called “ROCKET-X” i used to play games with him all through 2002-2004… they actually had a “Virtual Funeral” for him online although i think that was going a tad bit far… anyways it was weird to put a face to the name of the guy called “FREEKBOY” in our gaming world… and shocking and sad to see him jump!

America is not that bad… its about the same or better than most of the world… but it has its share of mentally ill people also… i myself and manic-depressive aka “Bipolar” like the one guy who jumped and lived and when i was younger i tried to kill myself several times… all three times with pills… i’m older know and take my meds and don’t drink alcohol and im relatively fine now… the thing is getting over the suicidal moment to live another day! thats the trick… to trick yourself into thinking “I’ll kill myself tomorrow” and keep saying that everyday and that way “tomorrow” never comes!

“Suicide is a PERMANENT solution to a TEMPORARY problem!” truer words were never spoken!

I totally agree with number 33 ( konart ) “What’s wrong with this world ? ” The answer is that people see, only what they really need/want to see. Very few actually REALLY care about other people’s concerns.

all these people need lots of help, because although some people say they will actually do it. These people went through with jumping off one of the tallest bridges in the world. As usual its the families left picking up the pieces.
Here in the UK I think mentally ill people get quite good treatment, as its not the taboo subject it was say 50 years ago. I think if people generally feel there life is not worth living they shouldnt bottle it up but tell someone they can trust. Also I have learnt through life, you can have real shitty days but around the corner it can all change. Also although some people may not see it, life is precious as you could have died from leukhemia or cancer as a child, or even stillborn. Everybody has there purpose in life, and although life can be hard at times, please note that its only temporary and one day you will be in Heaven with God.
Is jumping off the bridge any more dangerous or desperate than being a kamikaze pilot; since both actions have survivors.
