Matt Damon returns as the trained assassin Jason Bourne for the latest showdown in The Bourne Ultimatum. In the follow-up to 2002’s The Bourne Identity and 2004’s The Bourne Supremacy–the smash hits that have earned over $500 million at the global box office–acclaimed director Paul Greengrass (United 93, The Bourne Supremacy) joins returning cast members Julia Stiles and Joan Allen and new additions David Strathairn, Paddy Considine and Edgar Ramirez.

All he wanted was to disappear. Instead, Jason Bourne is now hunted by the people who made him what he is. Having lost his memory and the one person he loved, he is undeterred by the barrage of bullets and a new generation of highly-trained killers. Bourne has only one objective: to go back to the beginning and find out who he was.
Now, in the new chapter of this espionage series, Bourne will hunt down his past in order to find a future. He must travel from Moscow, Paris, Madrid and London to Tangier and New York City as he continues his quest to find the real Jason Bourne–all the while trying to outmaneuver the scores of cops, federal officers and Interpol agents with him in their crosshairs.

These HD DVD rips are sweet, but the problem is you have to watch them on your computer unless you have sort of standalone media player that can stream it to your TV. I burn all my movies onto disc and until they come out with an HD DVD burner that can burn these mkv. files I find these releases pointless, but that’s just my opinion. I mean you can convert the mkv. files to another kind of file, but then you lose the High Definition. Oh, well.

    @27 Muzy

It will NEVER have true 720 res due to the aspect ratio of the film. To have it as ‘720p’ you would have to crop the sides and lose some of the picture - not going to happen.

A movie of this quality is very likely to have a 720p.DVD9 version ;)

I also noticed even though they are “technically” not PROPER (as the sizing rule in the x264 scene is not clearly defined), a lot of SEPTiC releases are often followed with a better version very quickly, due to SEPTiC using a too low bitrate in every of their releases…

ok, ignore my last, i get you now, you mean a DVD9 sized 720p release, ok i understand now.

i also see why it is banding, i hadnt seen it was only 4.42GB, that is plain stupid, i had assumed it was 7.95GB

for whoever asked, banding is where the colours do not blend from one to the next properly, and a rainbow style banding occurs, usually in the darker areas, look at the sky in that image.

If you compare it with the Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy 720p releases you’ll see about the same bitrate and resolution. I think it’s good enough. If you think it isn’t, you can still buy it :-)

You can stream MKV files using TVersity to XBox 360 and PS3 if you have a fast wired or wireless network connection. However, the best way to view the HD movies is to use Matroska splitter and ffdshow and a Windows Media Center device.

love these HD rips, 720p all the way! the best/easiest way to watch HD is just to plug your HDTV into your PC, I use an LG 32″ as my computer monitor all the time, just double click, and away you go, no streaming hassel, simple. it is worth researching tv’s that have built in VGA plugs as it saves the hassle and expense of an HDMI>VGA cable, i robbed my vga cable off a seminar room at university, and even then, they are dirt cheap!

With regards to watching the HD rips on TV, we bought a DVD player that has a USB port - then all you need is a big enough flash drive.

I checked the DVD Release and compared with this HDrip. It seems that the Director of photographz uses some postproduction techniques on the film negative and so the LOOK is not as sharp as Usual/720p releases. The DVD has the same @not so egde sharp look@

So for me this release is okay and it looks nice on a beamer

    Thanks again

does anyone honestly no the bitrate of a pure hd-dvd or bluray

cause these dvd9 8.4gb rips are usually like 3000-4000 kbps

and the dvd 5 4.4gb rips are like—1500-2700 kbps

so whats the real res for hd —–in kbps

Well what I do with MKV files is that I use MKV to VOB and play them directly in my PS3 2.01 firmware. I burn the VOB file as data on a blank dvd or any usb stick with enough memory to transfer to the PS3 without compromising the hi def video and ac3 audio.

I can confirm that the compression quality on this release is flawless. The earlier screenshot demonstrating the supposed “banding” is way off. Either his codecs are hosed for it to play back like that, or the jpg compression used in creating the screenshot caused the banding. I went frame by frame through that entire final sequence and at no point was any sort of compression artifacting or banding present. So if you are on the fence about this release, don’t be. I’ve already seen this film so I didn’t watch the entire thing again but of what I did watch, this copy is a perfect HD rip.
Good movie too. Maybe not as good as the first, but it’s definitely worth watching in HD if you haven’t seen it already.

There isn’t anything wrong with any of the pieces. If your pc corrupted it then just force a recheck and download that one again.

i grabbed that 1080p version…. took forever to get and once completed, it had the file extension “.bc!” on the end and would not play correctly, my guess is that it was originally downloaded with something like flashget as that uses that file extension for downloads in progress, and was not complete when it was put up as a torrent :(

Muzy scribbled: Its a bad rip, first of all it does not have the full 720p res, second the video bit it toooo loowwwww for this great movie. for god sake release the DVD9 size HDRip, with higher bit rate and true 720p res.

I got a better idea. How about 1080p?
