The Bands Visit LiMiTED DVDSCR XViD-HLS
A very spectacular movie appeared today in a nice dvd screener from HLS. The Band’s Visit or “Bikur Ha-Tizmoret” is an Israeli movie which was premiered at Cannes and already received 10 film awards so far and secures an insane-high IMDB rating of 8.2/10. Audio is partially English, but mostly Arabic or Hebrew, so you will really appreciate included English subtitles.
An Egyptian band gets stranded in a nowhere Israeli desert town in “The Band’s Visit,” a warm and delightful take on cross-cultural relations that proves that sometimes a light touch is just what’s needed to address serious topics. Novice helmer Eran Kolirin has a playful eye for compositions and a fine touch with thespers, occasionally playing on the borders of cute but reining in before going to the wrong side of sentiment. An audience charmer that’s sure to sweep Israel — and Egypt too if allowed to open — offshore arms will be more than welcoming.

ok i will see if its not propaganda !
pretty lame name for a movie.
anyway life is not a film, and thank the holy spirit/wind for that.
i for once dislike israeli movie’s, most of them(98%) full of arzy fartzy philosophy shait, i love their bureks films though.
“hagiga basnooker”, “givat halfon”, “sababa” etc’.
“zohar” was great.(true sad story)
and of course the latest decent/awesome film is ushpizin, deep.
note however that the lack of votes means the 8.2 should be taken with a grain of salt

OOps … something wrong with my browser …. sorry for the dupes
after the simpsons, I am staying away from any HLS release
FYI: This film was supposed to be in the Oscars for the “best foreign language film” but was disqualified for containing “too much English”.
Does this have any warnings or black and white screens? Didn’t see any mention of it in the post or in the NFO so I’m just wondering
Anyone know where i can DL “Ushpizin”?
Been trying, but no seeders.
Martin,
I got the movie Thanks!
You mentioned that it includes subs, …not there.
Any idea where i can find them?
Thanks
kasio69: that’s weird, the NFO says they should be included but the release itself doesnt contain anything like that
8.2 rating with 147 votes doesnt say much, also the many awards comes from Award of the Israeli Film Academy, which doesnt say much either, since no one knows which other movies was nominated. However, im going to give it a shot.
Martin,
I know, i looked in the file listing and searched on the net. One of the sites actually says: no subs. Not sure how to watch this movie without the subs - some of it is in Hebrew and a lot in Arabic.
If anyone finds the subs - please post a note.
Thanks
not only are there no subs but WinRAR also said this:
! CRC failed in hls-tbv.avi. The file is corrupt
Worked for me.
Would love to get the subs.
It’s weird how english subs for israeli movies that already have a dvd realease with english subs are impossible to find ! Frozen Days : no subs to be found too !
PS : Ushpizin was quite nice
Rascal > try the mule
So is this movie in english or israeli?
Sorry about that, I meant to ask if this movie is in english or in jewish? Thanks.
Adam,
Let me correct you here - and please guys don’t start a whole discussion about it…
Exactly as you don’t ask if the movie is in Christian you shouldn’t as if it’s in Jewish. The Israeli language is Hebrew, the religion is Jewish.
The movie is a mix of English, Arabic and Hebrew.
Enjoy.
bvd> Thanks. I’m on a Mac today - but i will Mule for it!
Also waiting for Subs for this one… could be a long wait…?
this is a very nice movie, human stories are similar in any language, emotions don’t need words
not a propaganda in any way
worth its high imdb rating, only two weekends at cinemas in israel, worldwide releases probably will follow with all the attention band’s visit got : oscar, golden globe, and few important awards already won berlin/cannes
get it //with eng subs of coz

Kasio69,
Being Israeli doesn’t mean that you’re Jewish.

thanks Roi! despite all the small/crap talk , dissin and whatnot, lamers beggin 4 rapidshare links, people imposing their homosexuality on others(!), and generally bad behaviour, Roi comes up with the subs, making this movie watchable (hopefully the producers did as well!)
Thank You Roi !
Thanks Roi!
I am from Vancouver, Canada. This movie was on the show list of the 26th Vancouver International Film Festival which just wrapped up last week. I heard good reviews about it but did not have the time to go watch it in person. Thnx rlslog for this. It’s nice to see international films popping up on rlslog once in a while…
Being an Egyptian myself, this one should be very interesting, thnx alot for the post
