The Bands Visit LiMiTED DVDRip XviD-HLS

Hi all, I’m Bleez, a 22 year old guy from Israel, and I will inform you about movie releases here on rlslog.net :) Now let’s get to my first post:

The Band's VisitGroup HLS brings us the limited DVDRip of Israeli comedy/drama “The Band’s Visit”. Personally I haven’t seen this yet but it’s been very successful in Israel, winning the Israeli oscar, and is also highly rated on IMDB and *extremely* highly rated on Rotten Tomatoes with a perfect score of 100% fresh tomatoes! This film has Hebrew, Arabic and English in it, but you need not worry as HLS provides subs for the release.

Israeli filmmaker Eran Kolirin’s debut feature, THE BAND’S VISIT, is a subtle, heartfelt, and humane work that goes a long way toward dissolving the incredibly complex cultural divide that continues to plague the Middle East. When the Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra flies from Egypt to Israel to perform at the opening of an Arab culture center, they are left stranded at the airport. Their leader, Tewfiq (Sasson Gabai), orders the handsome violinist, Khaled (Saleh Bakri), to solve their predicament, but it turns out that he’s gotten the wrong information. By that time, it’s too late. All eight members are left standing alone in a quiet desert town far from their intended destination with no way to get where they need to go.

Genre: Comedy/Drama
IMDB rating: 7.8
Directed by: Eran Kolirin

Interesting point… but out of 191(in the un?) countries, only 22 recognize the armenian genocide. It is not that clear cut. Here in Canada, only 2 provinces (one of which I am in) recognizes the genocide. It would be silly to assume that if i go to the next province I am against the armenian genocide and when I hop back I aknowledge it (yes, simpsons in austrailia reference).

i hate to interject politics here

but at a time when european universities are banning israeli academics out of protest against israel’s policies, i have to ask if it is appropriate to encourage zionist participation and the promotion of zionist products on this site

to do so is to pretend nothing special is going on and it is ok to accept israelis as members of our community at the same time as they are daily murdering palestinians and defying the international community

    To Aydin (81)
-FYI no european university is banning Israeli Academics(may be is your wish)
-If you want to ban israeli academics start but no using more than 50% of medicine and also many of the israeli academic inventions that save your live daily
-Just yesterday palestinians from Hamas (banned by the UN By the way)launched 58 rockets on civilians, mostly around 8:00 am , the time kids travel to school and are more vulnerable
-this is in response of israeli killing 13 armed palestinian fighters
    So who is the murder???

  82. aydin
    January 17th, 2008 | 19:55

    @83

another lie, typical of the zionist disinformation campaign that pretends there is no opposition to genocide of the palestinians

    look it up yourself
    from AP

On April 22, 2005 the Association of University Teachers (AUT) in Britain voted to boycott two Israeli universities, Haifa and Bar-Ilan, and to blacklist their faculty. (Exemptions are offered for individuals who actively express satisfactory political views.) Delegates also approved resolutions mandating further inquiry into a proposed boycott of a third Israeli university, Hebrew University, and consideration of a proposal for a comprehensive blacklist of Israeli academics.*

    An egyptian here too.
The film is so good. I’ve watched and I think it’s a very good one. It really presents a very good view of how arabs and israelis are really no different in terms of human feelings and relations.

    Keep up the good work.

  86. euronix
    January 18th, 2008 | 00:29

@ 81 aydin: I would be of your opinion normally, but this movie is different. You will know that even in Israel (with a big line under the “even”) there are people who think different. Some of them make films to express themselves. Its a parable, of course, meaning there is much ore sense behind the “first level of action”. Probably because the director knows the art of storytelling, and probably because nobody listens anymore if you just say “Israel’s politics toward the Palestinians is bad” or the contrary.
I must say the real miracle here is that they found the money for it and a producer with the courage to actually produce it. Chapeau.
