Unfortunately this show is not to be found anywhere on public trackers (if anyone finds one give me a shout) but I’m sure there will be some RS links up in the comments.

    Re: Post #8

That’s your opinion probably because your an American moron who only finds lame comedy shows such as My Name is Earl and Scrubs funny.
British humour is dry and witty, only the intelligent understand the cynicism and find the jokes funny. Obviously this is not you…

just watched 3 seasons of [smack the pony], so cracked me up///

  10. December 9th, 2007 | 02:59

@6,tom: Yeeeah I so agree with almost all of those. The Office, The IT Crowd, Father Ted, Spaced, Extras are some of my favourite THINGS of all time! XD

Black Books is another show I completely love. Dylan Moran is a genius :)

  11. December 9th, 2007 | 03:02

    @9,Andy: I think you’re probably right.

To appreciate English humour I think you need to have a fair bit of understanding of english culture and a decent brain.

That dosent mean that anyone who dosent like english comedy is stupid tho :P

Some ppl just dont enjoy this style of comedy.

    @14 Reginald

lol :) prison break is a pretty good show but it certainly isnt the best in the world. other countries have shows that get better rating but they never make it onto american television. besides prison break doesnt get released internationally so it cant be awarded for “being best all around the world”. american comedy is alot simpler than that of most european countries and is usually all about sex.

    December 9th, 2007 | 03:16

    @Reginald

LOL! By your reasoning, that would make Britney Spears & Jennifer Lopez the best musical talent that America has to offer. Popularity does not equal quality, it equals lowest common denominator.

You dont need to be british, you just need to have a basic education (and even thats not always nessesary).

If you check out one british comedy, check out Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace. If you have a sense of humor you will love that show.

Hence things like Scrubs and Family Guy. lol

Its on adult swim in the US soon i think

  27. jonnyBoy
    December 9th, 2007 | 04:48

I’m from the US and I don’t find many shows here funny at all. The Office and South Park are the best comedies on TV right now; The Office is good just because it’s very mundane stuff that happens in real life, and South Park is good because it’s intentionally stupid beyond all reasons conceivable.

I still like old “Britcoms” like “Are You Being Served?” – That is good comedy.

The Pythons are still the best, though.

  28. December 9th, 2007 | 05:01

I couldn’t agree with you more jonnyBoy :)

South Park and the US Office are the best things from the US rite now in my opinon.

@NuZZ: I’m workin on the invite. I have reaaaally crap upload speed, but im about half way there. You’ll get it as soon as I get one don’t worry :)

  29. fourth.
    December 9th, 2007 | 05:06

    South park is brilliant
not a fan of either versions of the office, i just cant click with it for some reason.

  30. DukeNuke
    December 9th, 2007 | 05:08

The best comedies from the US atm have to be the offbeat adult swim animations:

    - Venture Bros
    - Tom Goes to the Mayor
    - Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!
    - The Boondocks
    - Xavier: Renegade Angel

  31. fourth.
    December 9th, 2007 | 05:11

    venture brothers
    The Boondocks are both great

Tim and eric is hit and miss BIGTIME

  32. Andy
    December 9th, 2007 | 05:59

@14 We are talking about comedies here…

Seeing as the US Office is one of the best things to come out of US comedy, where would it be if british comedian David Brent hadn’t developed the BBC version of the Office.
Following the success of the show on BBC, it was redone with US actors for US audiences…

  33. fourth.
    December 9th, 2007 | 06:15

Its british comedian Ricky Gervais, David Brent is his character in the office. x

  35. fourth.
    December 9th, 2007 | 06:24

    easy mistake to make dude
hes a funny guy but apparently a complete ego maniac, the sucess of the office made him a dik aparently.

but its 5.43 and im lonely.

  38. December 9th, 2007 | 07:39

@37,fourth: A lot of ppl seem to think hes an ego maniac. Its a gag he does. Hes said he cant stand ppl who are full of themselves and does not know how to act when awarded etc. so he just puts on an act like hes the most pretentious ego maniac in the world.

    December 9th, 2007 | 07:39

ReeGed, you’re doing it again. You’re telling us about a show you enjoy and not providing a torrent. Serve it up or quit posting.

    December 9th, 2007 | 08:44

Instead of this boring discussion, could we please get a torrent link?

That way we can judge this show/British comedy by ourselves, instead of having to read through all these inane ‘opinions’.

  44. 2k
    December 9th, 2007 | 08:56

armstrong and miller are a bit hit and miss. sometimes the sketch seems to be all about making a point rather than being funny. kinda like a lot of these comments. the point being; you suck we rule. bleh! there are no new ideas, only execution, which is why “the office” us and uk versions are both funny with practically the same material but seen from different perspectives. Long live le difference!

this isn’t the best british comedy around. but it’s worth watching and has some good sketches etc.

does anyone have a torrent or rapidshare link for this episode?

Rapidshare links for the first 5 episodes are on posts 13 & 14 of this topic:

Keep in mind we don’t all like the same things. I find british comedy’s to be both funny and entertaining.

I’m from norway and we have only made a handful of movies (not shows) that is even worth mentioning :(

In my view, Sweden make the best crime (detective) shows,
The british ones is not far behind, and they also make funny movies and shows. American tv has something of everything. They make so much entertainment it’s impossible not to find something you like. Personally I think some of the high budget shows there to be really entertaining.

I simply refuse to generalise like ohh so many do here, and say that for instance amercian shows are crap just because I find csi to be extremly dull and repetive. Post shows and movies from all over the world Rlslog!! :P

Never seen this show but will give it a chance if it become downloadable

    @42

Stephen Merchant is his co-writer and plays his agent in Extras. As far as i’m aware they still get on fine.

If you read interviews or listen to the podcasts he (ricky gervias) seems a fairly nice guy. He puts on this character of being an arse for comedy effect. If you’ve seen the bits he does for red nose day in the UK where he pretends to plug his own dvd’s while doing charity you would get that it’s an act.

  50. rrpostal
    December 9th, 2007 | 19:20

Gervais seem OK to me. Just listened to all the podcasts. (http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3821956/Ricky_Gervais_Show_-_XFM_Guardian_Podfather) Although Pilkington is the star. I give Gervais credit for realizing how funny he is.

I like a comedy regardless of where it’s from. I think every country has it’s least common denominator type shows. Some of them are even OK still. Generally I dislike the common trend toward scatological stuff. You never really know what someone will find funny. I think “Malcolm in the Middle” is a fantastic show and also like “13 stories”. I rarely hear anyone talk about either of those shows and am happy the internet allows me to find any of these gems that nobody crows about.

But the Ukraine make the funniest shows all else are stupid and people who like them are ugly.

  51. fourth.
    December 9th, 2007 | 22:06

malcolm in the middle is a classic.
never heard o 13 stories but since you seem like u have a good sence of humor ill check it out.

Hey sorry about that. The proper name of that series is “15 Storeys High” not sure where I got 13 from? It’s a pretty dry brit comedy, I think it’s funny. Sean Lock is in it. Not sure what else he’s in. I see him on QI occasionally and I think he does stand-up. Anyway you may have seen it now that I gave you the correct title.
