I have not seen it yet but find it difficult to believe from the reviews above that it is awful Steve.. Maybe your taste in movies is bad.. or you like “oldstyle” movies.. either way I dont think your remark is accurate!

Seems it will be very good!

I was a kid when I saw the original for the first time and became one of the few to be indelibly printed in my memory. This was a very different ’sci-fi’ movie from the ones made today that are all about visuals and nothing about story. Back then these guys sure knew how to tell a good story in spite of limited technology. Coincidence or not the director Robert Wise later made my still favorite Star Trek movie, the first one, also with a great story.
