NEPTUNE delivers one of the best releases of the past few days. HLS brought us the full screen DVDRip a while back, and many of you were waiting for the WS version. It is now available on 1 CD with very nice video bitrate and standard MP3 audio. The movie has been bashed to hell by critics, but it’s maintaining a great score on IMDB with over 3,600 votes already.

Synopsis: Solid performances from an all-star cast bring this ensemble drama to life. As parallel stories unfold, the viewer discovers unlikely connections between several seemingly unrelated people. Though the film is divided up into segments entitled “Happiness,” “Pleasure,” “Sorrow,” and “Love,” the mood is melancholy overall. Splattered with violent acts, THE AIR I BREATHE touches on the aforementioned themes and more, pondering the meaning of life and death through characters who live on the edge and risk everything for the thrill of joy, chance, and escape, even if that means death.

    Since you obviously didn’t bother checking, this release is not a dupe of the TRG release. Furthermore, this 2 CD version is far superior in terms of quality to the 1 CD TRG release.

    Please, look at the facts before coming here to bash and harass.

    It is a bad movie, well, I was expecting something like “Crash” or “Hawaii, Oslo”, but no, it´s pretentious from the get-go and full of temporal plot holes. I´d watch it if only for a few good scenes (Gellar on the Roof + her bf getting shot (that was unexpected) but otherwise, nothing to write home about…

    Might as well just forget about posting the RT rating, imho. They either rate movies 10%, or either 85%, there is like no between. Also not enough voters to be accurate.

    I don’t care about how much rottentomatoes gives this movie or any other movie because they never rate fairly! Even if this movie is bad, it should be rated higher than 14% because the directing and performance of the actors were good. Look how much they gave “Shaun Of The Dead”, 90%. I’m not saying that the movie is not good but diffidently not worth the 90.

    I would say always take the rating of other users especially when more than 1000 subscribe and statistically they would rate any movie much more accurately than a bunch of critics who never make sense of their judgments

    RT is wrong. As always to be honest. Dont most people only go by IMDB anyways? ‘8.0′ on IMDB is very impressive. Considering ‘No Contry For Old Men’ got 8.2 and thats oviously a movie of great quality. Which it is and I love it :-) this ‘The Air I Breathe’ is also a good film. The only bad thing is its slow. But such a great overall film. Acting is great, as you’d expect from some pretty much top stars. Download and enjoy… :-)

    Is it just me or is the audio corrupt on this release? I have a 5.1 setup and it echoes around my room because the right channel audio dissapears in large parts of this movie. If i switch to right channel only its completely silent. I’ve tried in both WMP and VLC. Could my audio codecs be corrupt or is it the movie?

    No, I have the same problem with the sound.
    Pretty bad and annoying. I can´t a rather bad picture, bad a bad sound with missing channels is just meh.

    i watched half of this movie and i rather like it so far but the sound issue is pissing me off
    the sound is very quiet and there is something weird with channels
    someone NUKE this or something
    i would like to see a proper release, and i don’t want to download 4,5GB version…

    it is as #40 and #41 mention: At times the right channel has no signal at all, at other times the right channel has the atmospheric sound, but no dialogue. The same is true for the left channel.

    But that happens only every now and then. I have a 2.0 setup here, and it is not so very annoying. Though it is not nice neither. The guliverkli Media Player Classic (MPC) has an custom channel matrix mapper in the audio options. I used it to quickly mirror the left channel signal to the right channel output at times when the right channel signal went blank. Obviously at these times audio is only mono, but since the movie itself is pretty much something that I like, I was happy to put up with the audio hiccups.

    No A/V synch problems though.

    I have not tried the Neptune Repack of this movie, since there wheren’t sharehoster links as good as those for the original Neptune widescreen release.

    I gave it a solid 8 points on IMDB, feeling like 9 points could also be right. Some segments remind me of Magnolia (that glorious Paul Thomas Anderson movie from 1999), especially with some of the music.

    As far as for my statement that there are no A/V asynchronicity problems, I need to mention that I watch the AVI on a PC, I do not transcode them to Video-DVD. So I can not vouche for a problem-free DVD-Video transcode.
