That Mitchell And Webb Look S02E04 WS PDTV XviD-RiVER

When I first started writing for rlslog, my “niche” so to speak was British TV and underground music. Since then I’ve started doing pretty much all categories apart from apps, so I think its time to go back to the roots and fulfill my destiny of introducing British comedy to yall. That Mitchell And Webb Look is a show that I’ve only been watching since the beginning of season 2, although I have been aware of its existense. This is a sketch comedy show which ranges from pretty funny to hilarious. The basis of this show can be compared to The Armstrong and Miller Show, which I posted on rlslog before. Great quality as usual from one of my favourite groups RiVER! Enjoy!

    If you are tired watching US slapstick shows, you should get: Only Fools and Horses, Allo Allo, Monty Payton, and Little Britain. I will check this one.

    Brit here, these guy are worth it for sure. Not everything works but it’s like that with every sketch show. Very, very funny when it works however.
    Season one is a classic, even if you’re not feeling this one.

    Hey ReeGed,

    I was hooked to this sketch comedy : “Kelsyey Grammar presents The Sketch Show” – it was 2o minutes of un-interrupted laughter

    but that show went off-air after 4 eps.

    I tried to find similar shows; Amstrong Miller Show, Catherine Tate show…. none of them were as funny as Kelsey Grammar.

    Could u recommend me something more like kelsey grammar?

    Armstrong and Miller are geniuses compared to these two. If you’ve not seen any, go and grab them from tvtorrents or wherever.

    @ ReeGed

    honest reeged these 2 are another couple of rich kids give a shot at telly -at our expense
    they are as funny as colonic irrigation.

    now thats some sweet ass monkey! thanks!

  16. March 14th, 2008 | 00:28

    @steveo:

    I’m not sure why you’re mentioning Jimmy Carr, he’s mainly a standup comedian..

    This is a sketch comedy show.

    IMO Jimmy Carrs Standups aren’t that funny. Too many cheap sex jokes that are safe bets to get a couple of laughs. Also he just does “classical” jokes. Theres no story or red string to his standups. Then he throws in a few cheap shots at audience members every once in a while.

    I’m not saying hes never funny. Just my two cents.

    @ReeGed (16)

    - i literally couldnt agree with you more. cheap comedy from that jimmy fellow. i think russel brand is also guilty of playing to the lowest common denominator. i think both of them are witty and clever enough to be MUCH funnier, if only they didnt underestimate their audience.

  32. miles
    March 14th, 2008 | 04:53

    i liked it apart from the fact that “numberwang” was clearly a rip off of adam and joes “quizzlestick”… dont copy mitchell and webb, you are as bad as pirates!

  33. bish
    March 14th, 2008 | 05:16

    @miles (33)

    i think theyve mostly dropped the numberwang sketch now. there was a reference to it in the first episode with a pastiche of the da vinci code mystery-thriller trailer style, but otherwise i dont think theyve done it again.

    it was clearly a shameless rip off, but it was also one of their best sketches in the first series. thankfully from what ive seen so far, this series is better – i was a bit disappointed by the first series, had a few too many continuity gags and the humour wasnt really as black as id expected.

    i find the new episodes funnier, anyway.

    These guys can be quite funny. The show isnt proper gold, but they have their moments.
    poss best sketch they have in my eyes is the ‘SS baddies’ one.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsNLbK8_rBY

    funny as. But if you like british humour I would suggest finding ‘The Fast Show’, ‘Monty Python’ (who DOESNT know that one…) and any ‘Ali G’ before he became recognisable. Just realised how many crazy sketch shows we have…

    I watched first episode of “Peep Show” and “That Mitchell And Webb Look” and I like it somewhat. I am kind of missing “Little Britain” perversity. This is surely not for everyone; Therefore most North Americans i know are not going to have fun watching it. Anyway, nice pick. Post something else funny from Britain.

    @48 tubbs – too right, first series or two of monkeydust were incredibly dark and very very funny. shows little britain up for the lame catchphrase-based crap it really is. oh and peep show is way better than this too. but this is getting better.

    All the people saying that Armstrong and Miller are funnier, might be surprised to learn that Mitchell and Webb wrote a lot of the material for the Armstrong and Miller show. Which is why they are so similar (and also so hit and miss).

    I’d recommend Ideal starring Johnny Vegas. Not a sketch show, but a sit-com about a small time pot dealer played by Vegas, and set in Manchester. It’s mixture of off-the-wall black comedy and sharp as a breadknife wit, only serve to create a series that will find you hiding it as your dirty little secret. It’s devilishly funny, wickedly exciting, and fully recommended.
