Terrors Advocate LiMiTED DVDRip XviD-PreVail

Just woke up and found this had been released during the night, was kind of surprised it hadn’t been posted already. Terrors Advocate is a french documentary film about the criminal lawyer Jacques Vergès who has defended some of the most notorious terrorists and criminals in the world. This film has received very good ratings overall. 83% on Rotten Tomatoes is very high and 7.5 on IMDB as well. One of the reasons I’ll be watching this is because you get to see archive footage of interviews with Klaus Barbie, the gestapo lieutenant and other criminals. For some reason I always think its interesting to see what bastards like that have to say for themselves. Enjoy.

Quality: This is a 2 CD DVDRip with good video and audio quality. Unless you’re hoping for HD there wont be a better quality version of this rls. Subtitles are hardcoded (French is spoken throughout the documentary).

A documentary on Jacques Vergès, the controversial lawyer and former Free French Forces guerrilla who has defended unpopular figures such as Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie and Holocaust denier Roger Garaudy.

    Carlos (the terrorist), Pol Pot, African dictators, S. Milosevic, they’ve all been defended by Verges.

    More recently, he tried to become Sadam Hussein’s lawyer.

    This guy is the definition of scumbag, and puts shame on us french. (yet once again :p)

    February 17th, 2008 | 15:16

    @finish him… You’re missing the point. Vergès is a master lawyer and a driven individual. By defending seemingly impossible cases he raises the bar for all of us who still believe in the separation of the executive, the legislature and the judiciary (Montesquieu’s division of political power). He has also defended individuals that you would more easily side with, in other high profile cases.
    The point is, by ensuring the absolute fairness of a trial for the most distasteful individuals, Vergès and other like him help to guarantee a fairer trial for lesser mortals charged with lesser crimes. If you believe that the rule of law in a democratic system should prevail, you’ll thank Vergès for his contribution.

    Are there english subtitles yet for this documentation?

    Or is there maybe even english audio available (e.g. voiceover)? Unfortunately, I don’t understand french.

    @17 desperado:
    Your comment does really show some brains. I am positively surprised.

    ReeGed: Please read the Article before asking questions! It clearly says subtitles are hardcoded.

    ooops, SORRY! I wrote my comment hours ago, and I have accidentally sent it just a minute ago.

    I see #23, the Sapphire release, has english subs.

    ReeGed: READ THE ARTICLE DAMNIT :P

    Yeah, but Saphire released this about a month ago with NO SUBTITLES INCLUDED - and now this release comes out and it has hardcoded subs.

    It’s a bummer for those of us with Saphire’s release who still have the 1.37GB sitting on our hard-drive and now he have to download another copy just because Saphire forgot the subtitles in the first one and PreVail decided to hardcode them.

    Damn it.

    Correction: I’ve read elsewhere that SAPHiRE did include the subs, but loder (the bot who runs all this stuff to PirateBay) didn’t include them. Goddamnit.

    Anyway, I’ve found the softsubs now thanks to another user.

    I cant see the subtitles, i’ve tried it with 2 different players.

    Whats wrong ?

    ReeGed: You’re downloading the wrong release. The PreVail release has hardcoded subtitles, i.e. if you can play the movie file you will definitely see the subtitles.

  37. english language
    February 18th, 2008 | 13:02

    @37 The Guy:

    The Prevail release has hardcoded subs, they are part of the video image. So if you see the video, you do unavoidably see the subs.

    The Saphire release does not have hardcoded subs. #33 Gaius has posted the subs for the Saphire release in bitmap format.

    If you have the Saphire release, then rename the subs or the AVI such that both the AVIs and their respective SUB/IDX files have the SAME FILENAMES (except for the file name extension). Also put them all into the same common folder.

    This way, the guliverkli Media Player Classic and Video Lan Client VLC both will automatically load the subtitles. In VLC you might still have to enable the subtitles visibility (via the context menu).

    It’s people like this that has made at least some kind of democracy survive so far.
    The day we start making special rules for people in court just because we don’t like them or think they are “obviously guilty”, that is the day that country stops being a democracy and becomes fascist instead.
    Human rights and democracy can not be defended by removing those whenever they don’t fit, then we are as bad as the people we are fighting against.
