Real music lovers BUY cd`s (even vinyl!!)
1. They sound better than mp3`s
2. A cd is not a harddisk, so it won`t crash on you
and your precious music will be maintained. (agree with no.36)

And when your sick of all this so called “sh*te music”.
Don`t go mainstream, don`t listen to the f*cking radio
too often, where they rather play the same things over
and over again, instead of real good stuff.

Digital music is nice when you`re travelling, sporting or working on your computer, but cd`s and vinyl rule!

I still buy cds as gifts for birthdays, for the older family members, I think they got a few more years in them yet, CDs that is..

I buy CD’s pretty much every week. I love doing so, and have done it for the last 8 years.

What if you never back up your free and payed for downloads and you suddenly have a HD crash?? LOL

I don’t believe that downloaders are 100% to blame here as copy protection should have been compulsory and constantly updated since a cd could be ripped to a pc. I hate to sound old here but I hate what radio has done to the world and these silly TV radio stations. How much power is being wasted listening to a radio station on a TV set when it could just be played on a radio. Sky, Virgin etc should be forced to stop them in the interest of energy conservation. There will be no wonder if the world went into an energy crisis. The music on the radio never changes as if the DJ has left the station with a jukebox on shuffle and repeat. If I worked at a radio station I would probably blow my brains out having to listen to the same stuff every day and say I like it when we all know its just for a little green and a guest appearance. Because of this alternative artists aren’t being noticed and are missing out. If more alternative artists were played then the music industry would be revived with a little dignity. If more appealing music was played then i might hear something I like and go out and buy the deluxe cd with the added music video or whatever. It’s gotta be better than hearing that annoying song you hate for the 80th time this month when the airwaves could be put to better usage.Who wants to go out and buy a cd if you’ve heard it 500 times. It’s crazy

It doesn’t hurt movie stars. They get paid while working on their movies. 1 million in their pocket today, 1 million in their pocket tomorrow. But the music business is different. You don’t get paid daily or weekly. You get paid monthly, unlike movie stars. I know this for a fact, because when I was in my late 20’s, I got involved with a band. We thought our record company was ripping us off, with the way our payment was settled until we found out, we were just getting paid like regular rockstars. Nothing more, nothing less, always on time. I’ve never been a movie star, so I don’t anything about about payment they offer. If you were a musician, would you rather have people buy your music and support you or would you rather perfer people downloading it illegaly and not supporting you at all? You are right about paying for concerts. Every band/artist pays for their concert. You wanna play, you gotta pay. All the record companies do is record your music and get it out in the world.

As I stated, internet companies are thinking of charging 10 extra dollars. So it’s kinda like, your paying for your internet and the $10 is paying for every song you download. But as I found out on our evening news, instead of paying monthly/yearly they wanna start busting your bucks every 2 weeks.

i have bought one cd in my entire life. Comfort Eagle by Cake. I should buy Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness by Coheed, because it’s honestly the best effing cd EVER PRODUCED. so yea, +1 to this.

The poster who said he doesn’t agree with downloading music illegally but will download movies is a bit of an idiot. So it is OK to basically steal movies but not music?.. why the difference?. Movie stars are no different to pop/rockstars and the big movie companies are just as bad as the big music companies. In fact the music companies are even worse. A movie star sent around the world to promote a film does so at the expense of the movie company or the local distributer, they pay for everything. A music star has to pay for everything themselves, even their huge concerts are paid for by themselves not the music companies. Travel expenses etc. are all deducted from the money a star makes before his/her or their royalties are paid. The music companies are very, very corrupt and incompetent even more so than the movie companies.

I have a good job, I can afford CDs but why the hell should I pay for a 10 or 12 track CD at ten or fifteen pounds if I only want one or two tracks from it?.

Why the hell should I have to wait two, three, six months or sometimes even a year to see a film compared to other countries?. In the days of high speed internet access it should be fairly easy for a movie company to distribute movies around the world at roughly the same time to everywhere.

The record companies have at last woken up to the possibilities of legal downloads and are beginning to get it right, lowering prices, releasing at the same time around the world, removing highly restrictive DRM. It is about time the movie and TV companies did the same. Download a non DRM MP3 file and you can pretty much guarantee it will play on your computer, Ipod, Zune or any other MP3 player that supports MP3. The same cannot be said of movie and TV show downloads. Often movies from one company have a proprietry codec, or have restrictive DRM so the films you paid for are all lost if the company goes bust, or shuts down it’s service (a la Google last year).

Home piracy is killing the industries?.. I don’t bloody think so. Hollywood studios announced record profits last year, stars got paid more than ever, cinema attendances were up last year. Hardly killing the industry at all.

I download music and movies for convenience (both legal and illegal), to get the latest releases (sometimes months before the cinema release), to get round censorship and for various other reasons not because I cannot afford it and I am sure most people on here are the same.
