TechTool Pro V4 6 2 DVD MAC OSX-HOTiSO

Another Mac-app for you Mac-users out there :) This time it’s TechTool Pro, released by HOTiSO. This program looks quite handy, actually. Read on for more info..

TechTool Pro 4 is a complete Macintosh repair shop in a box. In fact, it’s so good that Apple includes a copy of its sibling, TechTool Deluxe, in its AppleCare Protection Plan. If you have ever experienced a system bomb, freeze, crash, or indecipherable error code, TechTool Pro 4 can help you get your computer running smoothly again.

You don’t need to be an expert technician to run TechTool Pro 4. The interface allows you to easily perform a comprehensive suite of tests unattended, so even novices can run the program with just one click of the mouse. At the conclusion of testing a detailed report is generated. This report summarizes what was done, alerts you of any problems that were found, and instructs you how to proceed in that case.

ImageIf you are the type of user who wants to explore the inner workings of your hardware and software in depth, TechTool Pro 4’s detailed tests and reports will delight you. Almost every type of test you can imagine is available. TechTool Pro 4 even includes data recovery routines. These can often rescue important files from drives that no longer mount. If you wish, TechTool Pro 4 will also monitor your computer in the background, alerting you of developing problems so that you can address them as quickly as possible.

Changes:

  • Addressed -108 error in Directory Maintenance.
  • Additional improvements to Volume Structures test.
  • eDrive will now create a 12GB partition required by Mac OS X 10.5.
  • Improvements to the File Structure test.
  • Added new machine and video card information strings.
  • Added Chinese localization.
  • Added DVD compatibility for new Macintosh models up to Summer 2008.

NOTE: This release requires Mac OS X 10.4 or greater.

Nice to see apps for OSX posted, but, honestly: I have no clue why I would need something like this on a Mac. As mactard already said, it ‘just works’
I guess this software was developed by Windows users… ;)

HAHAHA: 1.37 GB – Bloatware is invading OSX!

BTW: Lets not forget OSX setup disc has almost 8Gigs! LOL! And they say Vista is bloated! :)

    @ 6. philips14c:

Don’t know if you’re using OSX yourself, but I think you forgot how much useful programms come with OSX. Compared to OSX, a brand-new installed Vista can do absolutely NOTHING.

OSX burns CDs, plays video DVDs, offers dictionaries and programms to organize digital photos… without having installed any 3rd party software… so think about it once again… ;)

    To each his own…

I run a Mac, Vista, XP and Linux in my lappy and each one can pretty much accomplish what you want to do. Bottomline is, just use whichever OS you prefer ans stop bashing someone else’s preference just because you don’ want it.

You run OSX on a laptop?
    I highly doubt that…

(Don’t get my wrong, I’m a Mac user myself (MacBook), I know that it’s technically possible to run OSX on Intel-based systems, but if you have at least a clue of what you’re talking about, you have to admit that it is _not_ possible to have a stable OSX running without bugs on a non-Apple computer… and much less on a laptop.)

    @Jako

Are you being naive or plain stupid? If you don’t backup what you are saying without doing some research then do me a favor stop using the internet it’s not for you.

Stop using your Mac. You’re giving Mac users a bad name. I must admit though that there are some bugs here and there but for the most part its just as stable running a variant of Windows or Linux or BSD or whatever.

If you still don’t get it Google is your best friend. If you don’t know whether it’s not possible to search it in Google then there’s no cure for ya.

I run xp, vista and mac (on amd x2) and there is nothing wrong with that. I use every each of them simultaneously. Im very happy with mac and i can even play on it (successfully installed & play counter strike source) Dont forget. Even mac can brake so that kind of programs r very useful.

Is there anyone around with real experience using this software? I would like to know if it is really useful and if it is worth it installing this.

Zenzio, it’s very useful for diagnosing if there’s a hardware failure on your mac. You can boot from a dvd image of techtool and it runs tests on memory, hard disk, motherboard..that kind of thing.
    Always in my mac toolbox.

@ #18 and to backup the opinions of #19, I have been using legit paid versions of it for well over 5 years. It’s an excellent program, and has no equal imho by another manufacture. Micromat, who makes this program has a nifty Firewire based version that comes on it’s own portable Firewire based flash drive. It boots off the external drive and allows you to conduct triage, repair, etc from the external drive.

Take what I’m about to say with a grain of salt, because it’s been years since I’ve used this program (my last Mac was an Mac Pro 9600 – or something like that). Anyway, unless they had a major restructuring, this software – as it was back then – was a sneaky little system destroyer. It had all of this fancy lights and magic going on, gave you lots of “insight”; even had you believing it actually made progress “fixing” your system. Then you turn it on and find that it has completely obliterated everything. I’ve had no less that 4 machines so completely trashed by Techtool that I had to do a complete reformat, and couldn’t even access the drives from an external boot disk!

But maybe things have changed? I’ve been a Windows user ever since Apple’s bankruptcy (just before the first G3’s and iMacs came out) so who knows? One thing that keeps me believing there probably isn’t any miraculous improvement is I had a similar experience with Norton – but it’s problems carried over to the Windows platform (trashed every Mac and PC I owned from a Mac Performa to a Windows 2000 PC.

These are old experiences, so maybe tey don’t apply… but then again, if they are just re-using the same old code…

    RS links already dead.

Paleeze, non further Mactel-Wintel discussion. There is nothing to discuss. It is a waste of time. Really there are more important things in life then discuss why you use this or that OS. Who cares anyway….
