There’s no way you don’t know this movie by now. PUKKA did us a great favor back in late January, when they released a high quality DVDSCR that had very little annoyances. If you had to wait for the retail DVDRip, you now get it courtesy of DiAMOND. Surprisingly, they chose to release this 116 minute film on 1 CD with an average bitrate and MP3 audio. You’d expect a great group such as DiAMOND to at least squeeze in AC3 sound to compliment a Musical. Still, best quality available. Have fun.

Synopsis: With its rivers of blood, this adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical isn’t for the faint of heart–or stomach. But thanks to the black humor, impeccable production design, and gorgeous music, Tim Burton fans will want to sing after seeing SWEENEY TODD. For his sixth collaboration with the director, Johnny Depp stars as Benjamin Barker aka Sweeney Todd, a barber falsely imprisoned by Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman). After leaving prison, he comes back to Victorian London to find his wife poisoned and his daughter held captive.

    Downloaded the dvd screener of this a while ago, what a waste of time that was. Couldn’t get past the first 10 minutes of this utter drivel.

    LOL….. I may of overated it a little bit saying it was excellent quality ThatOneGuy, it is good quality overall, but then again it is not a Blue-Ray quality copy is it now lol!

    Note: Someone said only an idiot would share a 2 hour flick on one cd well first off this flick is 1:56 minutes, and should not need to go on 2 cds that is a waist of time in most casses! I have over 4,000 movies in my Private collection most of them high quality DVD-Rips to say the least, so I don’t need to hear that BullSh*t from an idiot that does not know what they are talking about!

    Qwerty I am not sure what your argument is also, but the 1 cd version is just fine several people here keep complaining about the quality of that copy hey its free that is the bottom line friend! I also downloaded the REPLiCA DVD-R 4.3 gigs hours ago and sure it is higher quality da, but many people here don’t have the Speed to download a file that size like me and others that share Movie and or Apps Uploads and Downloads with the masses over the net my friend!

    BOB, my argument is that while DiAMOND usually share some of the best scene releases, this one is far from perfect, and far from the standard quality the group usually delivers. The video bitrate is low, the audio bitrate is low and the codec is bad, and both of these, especially the audio, affect a movie of this genre, in particular when it is such a good movie that should be enjoyed in high quality! Yes, I have seen the sample.

    That said, sure, it’s great that we get this for free. DiAMOND just doesn’t give us what I, at least, expect.

    My bottom line is, if you can spare the bandwith and temporary HDD space, get the DVD-R, or better yet, buy it. This movie deserves it. :)

    blah blah blah….diamond is capable of much better quality than this. A n00b could do a better release…anyone with ability to d/l autoGK and use it properly could release this movie with much better quality.

    Anyone with a dvd-rom, HQ/DVD source, & AutoGK can rip a movie! so why does everyone give release groups like diamond so much credit? Give credit where credit is due! How hard can it be to put a dvd into your computer and load a program then hit START!

    A 16 yr old retarted kid can rip a dvd and encode to xvid!

    I downloaded the official dmd-sweeneyt-sample.avi file. It’s the only part of the release I’ve seen, but it’s there for a reason: So people can see the quality. The full release isn’t better. This release doesn’t satisfy me, that’s all I’m saying. :)

    Well… Musical film should be released with the best sound possible, meaning AC3 or 5.1!!!! Release from Pukka had excellent audio!! It would be a waste of time to hear this film with low bitrate so I’ll wait for a 2 cd release instead :P
    Thank Diamond for this release but you could have done a better job :D
