Swedish traffic halves, no more pirating
Internet traffic in Sweden has plummeted after a tough new anti-piracy law was enacted in the country earlier this week, casting interesting new light on the extent to which illegal file-sharing occurs. The new law makes copyright holders such as record and entertainment companies to go through the courts to determine the identities of those suspected of piracy, via their IP addresses. The anonymity illegal file sharers have has hitherto made the practice widespread, although figures vary as to exactly how commonplace it is in various countries. However, traffic to Netnod Internet Exchange AB, a Swedish firm which manages many of the country’s key internet exchanges reported a drop of around half since Wednesday, when the law took effect. Throughput has yet to pick up.
Data transmission rates have slumped from a peak of around 190/200 Gbit/sec to daily highs since Wednesday of about 100 Gbit/sec. At the time of writing, the figure was around 80Gbit/sec. Along with its Scandinavian neighbours, Sweden has one of the most mature internet industries in the world, with a highly developed fibre-optic network broadband infrastructure. The figures will be a shock to many, pointing as they do to a potentially high prevalence of illegal file sharing. France yesterday showed its commitment to eradicate illegal file-sharing after passing a “three strikes law” which decrees that persistent offenders can be suspended from using the internet for a period of time. However, moves to get the law enacted at a European level have met with more opposition.

The figures will be a shock to many? Yeah right. We all know file sharing is a heavy consummer of online ressources. But what would be more interesting is to know how much of this is P2P and how much are RS, etc. downloads (and how the law plans to stop people who are not actually "sharing" directly)…
end of the world?!
Filesharing can only be stopped if they ban internet.
It will always be there
There's no way I'd slow down my downloads if my country introduced any such laws. Screw the Anti-p2p groups and money sucking RIAA/MPAA variants. I'd download all the more, just to spit in their face
[and hell, with fibre it'd be so much fun too!]
You did notice that traffic did not fall so much? In fact, its the same amount as Jul 2008 again, and it will surely rise again this month.
It's funny how it reinforces the stereotypical view of the Scandinavians as law abiding sheeple.
Filesharing made illegal? Ok, everyone lest just stop doing that overnight, even though it's no less immoral than yesterday. I mean, it's NOT ALLOWED from now on!…
maybe the answer to fight the new laws

@ newt : check out the very comprehensive "ipoque internet statistics" paper available at http://www.ipoque.de
there you'll find answers
If they take try to enforce and make a war on piracy, it'll probably go the same way as war on drugs, no improvement except making things worse, pirates will just find other ways of getting illegal stuff, there is no stopping it.
The main difference is that French people are not all the type of person to let a Government apply those kind of laws. I'm sure there will be a huge controversy and maybe some strikes.
It will be interesting to see if this changes music or film sales. Personally, I doubt it. My guess is that people will stop downloading stuff out of curiousity and focus only on the stuff they want.
Remember the Amiga days? Remember copy parties? They were fun, I miss them.
Erm, I don't think anyone with a brain has realised that many people have switched to a VPN in sweden when the law was enacted, I'm about to go VPN if the UK introduces any such law. even though I already source all of my media through secure private trackers.
Sweden has it has been stated has one of the best fiber optic networks in the world (along with S. Korea) so setting up VPN would be a piece of cake.
It's sad to be a Swede these days, I know, I'm one of them.
But there's hope. There are some VPN services out there so your traffic will be routed through their network. Sure that drops the speed pretty much but it might be a way to stay under the radar.
However, the Swedish anti-piracy bureau, claims to have some technology to see through this.
But I don't know. I'm taking it easy for a while to see what happens.
Leech while you can and run when they hunt you!
Keep the scene alive!
Peace!
I wonder what would happen if all the Swedisch people would quit their internet accounts with their providers… I think the providers would rather have people misuse their bandwith than that they are pennyless…
When laws are made, it`s our duty to burn them. Yes, im a nihilist.
The 3 strike french law isn't gonna pass. It would revoke the right for information. They tried to make it pass many times but human rights defenders always killed it.
And anyway, if they ever make any law that actually prevents us from using P2P (or whatever is your favorite download method), we'll just all merge into encrypted P2P… and the story goes again xD
example: freenet, a 256bit encrypted internet that works out of P2P.
dumb question probably but a program like Peer Guardian wont help?
the sweds shouldnt have batted an eye if everyone kept downloading theirs no way they would hand out all the arrests now they know the law works and will keep at it, here comes more funding.
i have access to 4 cracked wifis of my neighbors.
now what, b1tch?
What a bunch of p*ssies, just because thier ISP will give out thier names to anti piracy groups they stop sharing… been like that since the beginning in the USA and that hasn't stopped us, chalk one up for the good 'ole US of A's filesharers
F**K Sweden, it´s like living in North Korea!!!
People in Sweden are a cowardly people who never dare to say or do something when they get offended by the Government.
The think that they are a free people but they arent.
It´s sad but it is true.
@16 The french already passed the law in a rushed midnight vote when most of the people voting against it would be asleep.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3id4d9d8e33174af5a6cf956b9466954a0
file sharing can never be stopped as hald of the users on the http://thepiratebay.org/ are from sweeden!!!
so it will slow down public torrents but private oens will still carry one usaul!
Usenet was here before p2p and will be there afterwards too. Maybe all the tards who thought it was 'too hard' will give it another look? Encryped d/l is a beautiful thing!
The nightmare is coming to pass. Complacency combined with daily invocations from the mainstream media to be good little citizens, reinforced by tv; manhunt, cops, and cops with cameras, amerikas most wasted, all chasing poor people not wearing shirts for minor offences, while leaving the blokes im suits stealing billions alone, has created this awful mindset. Peeps will sit back and whine while the internet becomes a policed environment just as our roads have become. But they won't do anything.
The last Tarantino flick 'Death Proof' brilliantly illustrated how dull and controlled highways have become. The scene where the two 70's muscle cars barrelling down the highway as we all used to do, emerge on multi-lanes of noughties traffic – suv's nice sedans n sport trucks all moving at the same legal speed, that mirrored how we sat by and let the bureaucrats and pols take our road freedom away. Incrementally.
That is how the net will be. Incremental loss until there is nothing left. Pretty soon it will be considered theft to go onto a commercial site while running ad blocking software. That will be easy. You think that is ridiculous? Less than 20 years ago the notion that you had to pay a separate fee to the publisher not the artist when you listened to the same song on different media ie vinyl and tape, that seemed unbelievable. yet here we are.
The only way to stop this is for people to band together and things will have to get much worse first.
All day everyday we are being given the message that banding together is stupid, immoral, illegal and unamerikan.
Kids who have never had the pleasure of belonging to a real trade union can spout off all the right wing clap trap about unions being bad that they got from faux TV, The Sun, channel nine, nsnbc or any of the other myriad media conglomerates pushing out the message to get us divided and weak.
Blogs have been neutered. Typepad and the other back ends have put all sorts of restrictions on blogging applications now which restrict how much can be written, what links are allowable and how many of em etc, while the media blog sites censor most of what is written to make it balanced eg if 5 thousand peeps write into the NYT in amerika or the Independent in england attacking net censorship and 500 write in supporting censors the papers will argue for balance by publshing all 500 in support of censoring the net, and only 500 of those against the notion. Hiding the fact that most ordinary peeps all oppose something which suits the rich, by misusing the notion of balance.
Nobody even seems to be aware or care that this is happening, much less resisting it.
So when all you can do after you go online is read the same vanilla flavoured garbage as everywhere else, when email costs to send and receive each message, when the ISP collecting your money prioritises connections from big corps and slows down yer connection to small co -op sites until it disconnects you from the small site because it has unapproved content, but you still get your isp bill because the lobbysists convinced the pols that was the only fair thing, then maybe peeps will decide to take action. Except they won't be able to any more because the only accessible means of communicating a message of solidarity is totally under the control of those we need to fight.
But you get that. Oh well too bad.
Now where is that can of Pringles?
rapidshare links plz
It always makes me laugh on how many people still use slow arse torrents!!!
Newsgroups with 256bit ssl connections are the way forward!!!!
Well, in France the battle is not over apparently .
The law has to go through the Conseil Constitutionnel, which destroyed the last law against the internet !
So there's hope.
What people need to realize is that its not if the transfer bandwidth is lowerd that matters, what matters is if the industry has sold more media in sweden, Have they or will they?
I hardly think so, I live here and as for me, im gonna ban everything untill they change or remove IPRED.
I wont support those kapitalist bastards who are only out to make a tiny bit of more money, greedy pigs is what they are.
Always hated the swesubbed rips anyway so good riddance! If the swidisah ppl accept this like a herd of tamed sheep, it's their loss. World will move on.
this is not good. it just proves that action like this works. i should think isps will support this too as they will be able to offer 'unlimited' packages without worrying about filesharers using up hundreds of gb a month.
i should think after a month or two people will stop worrying and start sharing again though..
VPNs are not going to solve the problem; ISPs could and (probably will be) eventually be forced to disallow VPN traffic between consumers unless the connection is to a licensed VPN owned by a large institution. Governments will argue that VPNs are being used for criminal activities and therefore must be licensed and controlled.
What is needed is a form of 'covert P2P' where the P2P traffic is hidden among 'ordinary' internet activity. And it would need to work in a way that it cannot be digitally finger printed. ISPs neither have the time nor money to go to the lengths of working out if a user actually IS engaging in illegal P2P or not. They'll just take the quick option of blocking any activity that is suspected of being illegal just to keep the media moguls happy. it won't be long before standalone ISPs are a thing of tha past and all internet connections are provided by either your telco or your combined telco/TV service provider.
If I couldn't dl movies free of charge, doesn't mean I'd go buying them asap, nor to go through the trouble of going to cinemas. 99% of flicks are crap anyway and as matter of fact, I'd be better of without seeing them at all.
So if my ISP is reading this, please send me a notice to stop downloading stolen material. I'd be a good boy and do just that. But for now, I'll just keep stealing crappy movies and cook my brains by watching them. Be well.
But what you don't see is when Sweden is gonna bring this law in other countries will be next.
But i am sure the internet companies will loose so much money over this. And its gonna bite themself in their assses when that happens. And then they will regret it.
Humanity can't survive without internet
this is bull…. there is 1 question everyone should ask themselves: will the music industry and movie industry earn more money if no one share movies and music online. i dont think so
Sweden sucks, the Swedish are cowards

Just some info to those who think this is true.
They seem to base piracy on amount of Gbytes used.
everyone should have downloaded twice as much when the news came out – (using their equation, file sharing = non existant?)
SSL Newsgroups and IRC.
I highly doubt this law will be enforced in Norway.
I must say this, That news post is so way off its unbelivable and the internet company that you linked as the source is the smallest company in Sweden, i don't even think i've heard of it, the biggest companies in sweden when it comes to ISP is Telia, Tele 2 and Bredbandsbolaget so that statistic is way misguiding!
what would be fun, would be if everyone stopped illegal file sharing and also avoided the theaters and cdroms for a decent amount of time to allow the newsmedia to ask how come the movies and recording industries still can't make a profit once they no longer have p2p, etc. to blame. maybe they'll blame sunspots next?
This is actually very serious. Sweden has been at the forefront of the digital revolution for many years, and now it sets an example that other countries are sure to follow, if it does generate money…
These powerful corporations are trying to butcher this emerging source of knowledge, known as the internet, simply to make a few more billions each year. EVERYONE has to gain from free information, except a select few huge companies. Most artists are pro-filesharing you know.
That's why we must NEVER EVER pay for new media again. That would encourage and finance these actions further.
I'm from Sweden and I don't care about this stupid law. I download more now just to compensate. LOL.
not gonna stop me for from downloading my daily pr0n. the addiction is a disease, and they can't possible send me to jail for a disease!?!?!
I hate living in Sweden now… Someone please save us.. ;__;
#42, Nauti. Those are just ISP's, they route their network through Netnod.
I find that this is only happening because these u.s. based groups are putting pressure on the other countries, and because the u.s. is the most feared, the other countries are following in line like sheep.
So wouldn't it be logical to host from a country that will not cave in to the u.s. laws ?
I know that was THB's intentions when they hosted from sweden, but come on, we all knew eventually sweden was going to cave under pressure when THB's success and profits came to light. They have the money and resources to move THB, and others should consider this when starting a site.
Also, seen as how the new fad seems to be terminating torrents, then I feel that sites like THB, mini, etc. should be taking some of that money that we all made for them and coming up with a new type of file other than torrents that the world can use to share with. We had a good run with torrents, but now it's time for a change.
Just my 2 cents … which is probably only worth 1.3 cents in today's economy.
capitalism is god now, and if you were in the right chair collecting the money–what would you care?
it's the end of the world as we know it, and feel fine.
i live in sweden end whene the hell did the law come i havet heard about thet so who the hell have say thise rumors.
as a Swede myself – i personally agree that IPRED really sucks. and so does FRA, which is another sh*t thing that we have to deal with. and we have IPRED2 to 'look forward to' as well.. yeah, i also agree that Sweden harbors a whole bunch of cowards that don't speak up or stand their effing ground.. but then again, name a country that is so much better? USA, France, England to name a few – you guys have a whole lot of things going on too; cause we are ALL being monitored and watched! we just 'don't know it' because we can't see it. sure many Swedes will prolly lay low for a while and stop up-/downloading/sharing a bit – but that's just temporary. most people wanna check the temperature, so to speak, search for alternatives and so on so that we can continue up-/downloading without getting busted & sent to court. fines ain't that much fun, especially if you're rather "innocent".. even IF you do not upload/share material – someone in your area may do so, and remember that many peops can hide behind the same IP, but do THEY care about that? uhm, NO. new IPRED law beautifully says; YOU ARE GUILTY until proven otherwise. sounds like so familiar.. but can't put my finger on it. [sarcasm]
@-leroy "Sweden sucks, the Swedish are cowards"
Dont you forget – they're the ones fighting on the frontlines for your piracy – at least don't say things like that about them.
The game developers and film makers are not those who are against piracy, not all of them. It is those who gets the most money of games, movies and music. We all have to pay taxes so you know who i'm talking about. For example, Usenext, is a way for goverments to direct piracy to these paysites by making laws against pitacy and so they get the most money from these sites. And we think we are paying to somebody else,LOL. It's all about goverments not getting so much money they wan't. I have not anytime seen anywhere a statement from a game developer or movie poducer saying that piracy has infected their income. They are all rich, not poor, is there piracy or not. And i think allso that those who download games and music from internet, would not buy them from stores if downloading would be banned. They just wouldn't buy them atall.
Usenet ftw!
yep, and old confused punkinhead is back with his conspiracy theories. He neglects to inform you that both the NYT and the Independent are both going under and the banks give the NYT less then 2 years before they close their doors, and the Independent less then 3.5 years before they have to make massive job cuts and raise the price of their paper to almost 2 pounds per, just to keep their doors open according to the Bank of England and the House of Commons. Or that the US has a bill that will be passed this year requiring ALL isp's to upgrade so that their customers can get 8mbps minimum unrestricted broadband access and if you are below the poverty line, then you get it for free like welfare or the dole. As for censored blogs? maybe in Europe, but the Daily Kook (daily Kos) allows threats and death threats against people who dont agree with a poster. They actually were taken to the 9th US District Court and made to give up real names of people that had made death threats against Democrats! As for suits stealing funds and unions, PUH-LEAZE. Tell that to Madoff and a thousand other "suits" that was caught stealing money and were sentenced to prison that they got away with it. Yet not one thing is said about the Union heads who whine about the imagined injustices yet make darn near 5 to 10 times what a line worker makes, sort of make the complaints from the Unions ring hollow dont it? And what about the theft of Union dues to be given to the Democrats on a regular basis even though federal law makes this illegal, would OCP explain that? Oh and it is Msnbc, not Nsnbc, not to mention that this is a very left wing TV channel and they freely admit same. Not to mention that according to the neilson ratings (the people that keep track of what you are watching for the advertisers) has shown Fox news to be the top rated News Channel for the last ten years and counting. Even ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN and the BBC cannot make that claim. And the rest of the Old Idiot's rant is so beneath the intelligence of a 2 day old child that there is no sense in proving it false as only a moron would believe a thing this fool has to say.
But what I want to know is where are all the "Europe is better cause we can do anything we want on the net" crowd? You people insisted that the MPAA and the RIAA could not get to you because you lived in another country and were told that as long as they signed the treaty or allowed the Interpol in their country; they could get you. Now you are finding out that this was the truth and it wont be long before the EU MAKES ALL it's members follow the same rules as Sweden. THEN what are ya gonna do? Move to Asia or Russia? I should laugh at you and your simple mindedness, but that would be cruel.
Simple – This will only allow someone else to come up with some encrypted sharing scheme based off of Edonkey or Bit Torrent.
For those that are TOO STUPID.
TA DA – USE NZB/NewsGroups dumb asses.
@32 stopping VPN connections for customers will never happen, almost all companies use client-to-site VPN connections for it's employees.
@33 yes 99% of movies do suck, out of all the movies being released this year I only plan to see 3 out of almost 100+
If music filesharing ever dies, I bet the following year the music industry will post record low profits since noone will paying thier crazy high prices for physical media.
I also believe f*cking RIAA/MPAA and other anti piracy organizations around the world will start targeting usenet within the next 2-5 years once more idiots starts blabbing how good it is. So STFU about use usenet kthxbye
It's just propaganda to try to discourage illegal file sharing and make it looks as if they won. It's a smoke screen.
For you ppl who believes this heres another thing you might be interested in,

file sharing is illegal in the US but lot's of people still do it, just like the swede's will. Plz don't talk crap about the swede's they have most beautiful women I've ever seen, there.
yes! now that's a victory for free enterprise!
No encryption will help on p2p, it doesnt work like that with this. What they do is they just goto p2p networks and download files from peers to gather evidence, thats all they need. They get the rights to download the files from the companies that owns the rights in order to catch the pirates.
So basically uploading can get you busted, and that a problem for bittorrent where uploading is big part of the system.
This is just another pointless law, do people honestly think that half of sweden stopped downloading stuff? Yea right.
the scene is happy. the isps are happy. the artists are happy. and netload, rapidshare and all the others are happy.
Obama is trying to control the Internet in the USA now with new bill. http://wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=93966
Get a usenet provider with ssl encryption. problem solved.
Reading throung the responses the not stereotypical, but real differences between nations pop up. To react to the French viewvpoint, not surprising, alson on a sidenote to Amiga copy parties, they still can do it, their own dial-up somewhat of countrywide intranet is still kicking despite the internet.
I'm also sure some nigerian emigrants will really become princes in a way that their buddies at home will rent servers for trackers in Scandinavian countries, and also offer a static IP-address for their users to mask it, from that point on, it will be an international conflict and we all know, 419 scammers are so afraid of Western authorities, not like they imitate the FBI in spam-mails:d
But on a serious note, in our country, there is a common acceptance. Since being a postsocialist country, people offer their services and if they get caught, they will even be saluted as heroes for fighting the unwanted government
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid the big companies will win sooner or later.
The people with the money have the power – and the laws will be changed to suit them. $$$££
My advice is to download as much as you can – while you still can – and enjoy the golden age we're living in.
erok71, you do know WND (world net daily) is a very conservative website claiming to be independent? I take info from their site with a grain of salt
@ HH : I think you're right I mean if it stays like it is today who's gonna buy anything over a year of 20??? Everyone will be getting content for free. So they probably do something drastic one day. But I hope it isn't gonna be soon.
Cause 20euro for 10 songs which you don't know if they are any good is just ridiculous.
People are still music though, despite everything.
I think education is the way forward.
Encourage people to support the artistic endeavors of the
musicians and bands they really like – by buying their
records and going to see them live.
I'm not against file sharing. But I think if you claim to be a fan of a band, you should put your money where your mouth is.
This is more or less disinformation spread by the media. There is no clear link between the new law and a claimed decrease in internet traffic. That this piece of information has become so widespread is a pity, there is no truth behind it.
Well, the drop is only temporary. We're workin' on spreadin' the VPN. Revenge there will be!
Swedish traffic halves, no more pirating.Says who … Releaselog ha ha ha ha …. grow up.
a small instruction on bypassing internet censorship. maybe it help a bit.

@71 – file sharing is not only for music, mp3. I don't care for music at all. But I do care about software and movies somewhat. If I can't download it, I will not buy it as well as 80% of population. They can even take away internet from me. I will still not buy it because I cannot afford it. I can always do what I did 20 years ago, to buy pirated software from some random street guy. Right now it's just easier to download EVERYTHING from the net and fill up 1 TB space of hard drive in two weeks. In some sense all these laws will help me not to clutter my hard drives with all garbage and have just a few good movies in collection and few great software packages on my computer. The rest of the time I will spend with my family, friends and enjoy my life. So, thank you government, thank you RIAA, MPAA and other agencies to make me human again!!!!
NZ is doing this too…
Soon our ISPs will be forceed to disconnect you if warner bros etc finds out your ip is downlaoding their movies. The isp can get massive lawsuits if it refuses….
The good thing is that the movie companies dont sit at rs hq and look for the ip's downloading their files- good old privacy clauses for premium users
@58 (h1pp0)
No what I said was VPNs would become licensed technology, not banned. By licensing VPNs authorities effectively can outlaw the use of VPNs unless used by authorized institutions.
@39 (gandalf)
It's not based on Gbps alone. It's well known that most of internet traffic these days in P2P traffic. Therefore a big drop in traffic in relation to the legislation is a reasonable assumption that many people stopped/reduced P2P activities.
However, I would expect the internet traffic in Sweden to rise as people learn how to use proxies and/or VPNs.
@49 Time To Clean House
China is your answer.
@80
China is not the answer. China is clamping down on priacy also; they don't want to upset their trade partners in the West.

WELLINGTON (AFP) -
New Zealand Monday withdrew a controversial law which could have forced firms to disconnect Internet users accused of illegal use of material such as music or films.
The Copyright Amendment Act would have put the onus on Internet service providers to ban users accused of copyright breaches, even if allegations were unproven.
"Section 92a is not going to come into force as originally written. We have now asked the minister of commerce to start work on a replacement section," Prime Minister John Key told reporters.
The new law was due to come into effect in late February but it was postponed for a month following widespread protests from Internet users.
The delay was meant to give time for Internet service providers to come up with a code of conduct to make the law workable.
"There is a need for legislation in this area. Some progress was made between copyright holders and the ISPs but not enough to agree a code of conduct," Key said.
"In our view there are a number of issues that made it difficult to complete that code of conduct without fixing the fundamental flaws in section 92a."
The government will re-introduce a new law following a review.
Key has previously said the government would not allow the Internet to become the "Wild West," where copyright holders had no right to payment or recognition for their work.
What we need is a way to do P2P over HTTP. ISPs are never going to block HTTP. Need to make every packet look as though it's a HTTP request/post. Even if it is an inefficient way of doing it; it doesn't matter because connections are getting faster all the time. Just as with rapid applications development, the functionality matters more than good programming because CPUs are so fast now there is no need to write super efficient code.
Do any of you know what the weather was like in the southern(most populated) half of Sweden during the second half of the week? Spring came, and if you know how long and dark winters up here can get, you'll understand that this is probably a larger reason for any (if any) drop in traffic, I'd say.
Folks, it's really depressing to read your stuff, you need to look out the window from time to time. I'm never clicking "comments" again. No hard feelings though.
All the best and good luck to all of you!
Denmark might get into it too!
It will TOTALLY suck if they do!
Not that i share files but i download , and it will probably effect that too! UGH!
Last thing denmark did was to block Piratebay torrent share …
Suckers … …. blaaaaaa ..
With Blackcats-games.org any body get the PM . Whats my new ID?
Any links to download this?
@ jay whether you're a fool or a charlatan is irrelevant one thing is for sure your silly attempt to divert from the issue is transparent as well as specious.
Whether or not the NYT and Indie are going down the tubes is irrelevant, the way they censor their boards is the same on nearly all major blogs (especially DKOS where any views which challenge standard zionist thinking are deleted and their author banned).
The bill you refer to is a standard piece of amerikan congressional legislation ie it promotes exactly what it claims to defeat. See any of the myriad bills claiming to regulate the financial industry that in reality gave them freedom to do as they please – the results of that are having to be borne by the whole planet. Oh that's right! The rising unemployment around this planet is just another conspiracy theory.
The greedy buffoons that Jay wants to place so much trust in continually put short term gains for themselves ahead of the long term welfare of humans yet Jay still reckons they are above reproach. Sad really.
ISPs will be allowed to shape traffic according to the models which benefit them the most commercially and that will inevitably mean big corporate sites will get priority access ahead of smaller less conventional sites.
Incidentally China the country we are continually told is doing so badly at the moment has suffered a bit of a reverse. Yep it's annual growth has slipped from 14% to around 9%, rather better than most nations were doing at the height of the noughties boom.
Things aren't as good as they were in China but their economy is still growing. That isn't the impression the western media likes to put though. They hit on China to avoid discussing the fact that most western economies not only have stopped growing so fast, they are shrinking – getting smaller.
Most of Jay's heroes have had at leat two quarters of negative growth, and amerika has had 4 which is past recession mode into depression, yet the corporate media and interweb neatly avoid such tiresome realities, preferring to concentrate on specious froth like Mr and Mrs Step'nfetchit's european tour.
But hey peeps, don't listen to me or Jay – let your fingers do the walking and google some of these issues -just remember to go past the first couple of pages to places you may not have seen before. Read all sides of an issue then form your views while you still can.
This is a lie, swedish newspaper went out later out with the correct data from netnod.
Cannot beat the system? Break it! Share as much legal stuff as you can, share linux, be a gnu mirror site, what will they do? filter daily millions of gigabytes to find a few pirates?
(not defending linux, I think it's a crappy desktop but love many free apps (a kinda nice server, thou))
You can even just share crap among Sweden just to screw with their filtering system, hog useless bandwidth now, it's your patriotic duty
they only way to stop pirate ban the internet.. ahah or or they stop giving high broadband internet connection.. the hightest speed will be a phone connection
see old big brother has the peeps living down there in the North of the planet -from today's BBC site:
"Details of user e-mails, website visits and net phone calls will be stored by internet service providers (ISPs) from Monday under an EU directive."
this is more invasions of privacy from the global war on terror©
The bit I don't understand is that when I lived in england in the 70's there were far more terror bombings and everyone handled it, refused to let their lives get turned around by it.
The amerikans were funding the IRA everyone knew it and amerikan pols refused to so anything to halt it because they didn't want to alienate irish american sociopaths.
amerika gets hit once, about as many people get killed as a tough day in baghdad mid 2006 – suddenly the sky is falling in.
Consequently the whole world is bullied cajoled and blackmailed into passing laws that severely restrict everyone's freedom. Laws that are used to circumvent people's protection from government intrusion for all sorts of reasons completely unrelated to terror -see iceland getting it's assets frozen in england using anti-terror laws.
Muslim business men have to use banks instead of their traditional financial infrastructure which meant they could be clipped by USuk bankers just like everyone else, even though they had nothing to do with any terrorist group.
If you have an islamic name forget about flying in amerika, you will be on a watch list that you cannot get off.
When are peeps in europe and amerika going to protect their privacy by opposing these repressive laws?
Soon it will be too late and our offspring are gonna pay dearly for our weakness.
Everyone in sweden use Oneswarm
great software!!!

erok71, you do know WND (world net daily) is a very conservative website claiming to be independent? I take info from their site with a grain of salt
*Guess then you also dont believe in CBS-who allowed Rather to try and take down a President with BOGUS information they got from a made up source? Or NBC/MSNBC who continued to do business with and sell items to the Taliban when they were killing Americans and other Soldiers and then sucked the teet of Obama to get him elected? Even other newspeople said this was embarrassing and obvious. Or how bout ABC who REFUSES to deal with both sides of an issue fairly who will shove the Global warming myth down your throat and yet clearly ignore the 70,000 Climatologists that say this is bunk as well as the chunk of ice in the polar regions three times the size of California, or that 2008 was the coldest year in over 50 years, or that the south pole has 3 miles of new ice that was not there before, or that the glaciers are starting to thicken or even the proof of NASA that sun spots are fewer meaning less activity and less heat produced, thus cooling the earth instead of heating it up? Guess you are going to believe a news channel instead of NOAA and NASA and the ICCC? Check the sources dude and you will see that the bill mentioned DOES exist!

Old confused punkinhead…PUH-LEAZE go take your medication as you could not make sense on anything even if you were reading from a script! The ONLY fool here is YOU! And as for specious, have you read your posts? First you go from being brain dead and reality challenged with your conspiracy theories, and now when it seems that you cannot get any worse; you find a new low with showing your racism. Zionist's and Mr&Mrs Stepinfetchit? I bet your mother is soooo proud of you right now. I checked your "sources" and they confirmed that you are a liar as well as being completely ignorant. Here's to hoping that the Mods will finally tire of you and your tirades and ban you so you can slither back under the slime covered rock you crawled out from.
