Survey: people prefer Internet access to sex
Intel came up with a novel way to show how important the Internet and computing have become in the lives of Americans. In conjunction with Harris Interactive, the company conducted a survey of adults in the United States under the prosaic-enough banner “Internet Reliance in Today’s Economy.” But the first “key finding” from the study is a little more attention-grabbing. According to the study, 46 percent of women and 30 percent of men would opt to forgo sex for two weeks instead of giving up access to their precious Internet for the same period. More broadly, those surveyed said access to the Internet ranked highest among the discretionary spending items they could not live without. Cable television, dining out, shopping for clothes and gym memberships followed in declining importance.
Along similar lines, 61 percent of the women surveyed said they would rather go without TV for two weeks than lose access to the Internet for one week. Using the data as a means of pitching products fueled by Intel chips, the company said: “The survey revealed that 65 percent of adults feel they cannot live without Internet access, and even more — 71 percent — responded that it is important or very important to have Internet-enabled devices, such as laptops, netbooks and mobile Internet devices that can provide them with real-time updates on important issues including the state of the economy.” Harris Interactive polled 2,119 adults on Intel’s behalf.

the internet is always good but most times sex is bad and women complain all day about it.

If we’d say a day without sex or a day without Internet access, I’d choose to be without the ‘net.

Umm, folks use the internet because it’s a FASTER way to do your job. You can still operate like how people did before the interweb became a lazy-inducing tool. You know, dig through PHYSICAL libraries. Look through ACTUAL books and such to do the task needed to be completed. Unless your job consists of IT work or some other web-based operation, you’d be a nimrod to quit your job because you can’t use the net for two weeks. Obviously, you really didn’t like your job that much in the first place to do such a thing.
Not to mention that there are still a wide range of occupations that does not rely on the net for them to be completed. It’s far from “almost everyone.”

You can have sex if you have internet access. So you kinda get two for one with that answer. You can’t get Internet with sex though, unless you find some future robot I guess. That would be super-sweet.

This is a foolish survey, it can’t be answered properly. Indeed I would rather have sex one time a day during 2 weeks and no internet connection, though i’d prefer keep internet 2 weeks than get a hooker for one night…

A lot of the people that answered that they would rather keep their internet were probably single when the question was asked anyways.
People that have been married for a long time also know that there can be dry periods where they don’t get sex for around two weeks, etc.
Change the question to “Which would you rather have for the rest of your life?” and I think more people would choose sex.

Internet on the other hand… Well, it’d be harder to abandon it for 2 weeks, there are a lot of things that I check, read, do, etc. on the internet every day. I’m not saying I couldn’t live without it, but no internet for 2 weeks is worse than no sex for 2 weeks.

If the subjects were to choose from 20 minutes of internet access per day OR 20 minutes of sex every day then the percentages would surely differ.

Having sex with women these days is awful. Women are lazy as hell when it comes to sex. The best sex a man can have now comes from prostitution. Tell a woman she’ll get paid and you are assured great sex. Sad but true. Given the option of having sex for free- without ANY external benefit- or going shopping and/or doing coke- most women- the hot ones that is- would pick the latter. Also sad but true. Thus, for men who still have brains in their heads, prostitution is a much better option. However, to get prostitution, you now need the internet.

its a poorly worded article to be honest. Like people said – if you’re talking about a 2 week period you arent going to be able to have sex constantly for 2 weeks. You can do a hell of a lot on the internet in the same amount of time you have sex… and then you can carry on doing what you were doing without stopping.
Guarantee most people, after sex, dont take long before they’re on their PCs doing something across the internet!
