Supreme Commander EMUDVD9-Unleashed
Supreme Commander is here! I’ve played the demo and I have to say it’s quite dissapointing. But then again I only play the exceptional RTS games like Company of Heroes and Soldiers: Heroes of World War 2. The game feels like Dune! That’s right, the very first RTS game ever. It all just feels static, whereas Company of Heroes has some amazing effects and cut-scenes that completely immerse you into the game. For all the other RTS gamers who might enjoy it though, here it is! Enjoy!
In the 37th Century, the galaxy is torn apart by three rival factions, each vying to eradicate its enemies from the universe, end the Infinite War and become the reigning power supreme. Supreme Commander represents the next evolution in the Real Time Strategy genre through its truly strategic and tactical gameplay and mind-blowing scale and scope, which is coupled with unrivalled zoom and control features.

Features:
-
Scale: Witness tiny assault bots get crushed underfoot by towering mega units, or watch as smaller attack bombers try in desperation to bring down a gigantic experimental unit.
-
Scope: Concentrate on individual ground battles or zoom all the way out in a single, seamless motion that reveals the full theatre of war. Plan and unleash multiple strategic attacks from this strategic vantage point.
-
Dominate your enemies by coordinating strategic ground, naval and air attacks. Initiate a crippling air strike with your attack bombers and support them with a ground assault of heavy and light artillery that demolish the opposing faction’s main base. Exterminate your foes once and for all by sinking their aircraft carriers with a surprise submarine attack.

System Requirements:
- Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2, Vista
- 1.8 GHz processor
- 512 MB RAM
- 8 GB available hard drive space
- 128 MB video RAM or greater, with DirectX 9 Vertex Shader / Pixel Shader 2.0
- support (Nvidia 6×00 or better)
- Sound card, speakers or headphones

I tried the demo, it was actually boring, your right that Company of Heroes is ten folds better than this game.
This is an awesome game, I agree so are the world war 2 war games but this is a totally different game so comparisions are unfair, but if you don’t like robots dont’t play it. Sequel to the just as great Total Annilation. Hmm feels like dune, I really don’t understand how it has anything similar to dune apart from that was an rts too. I expected a reviewer on here to have a sensible opinion and to not slate a game that you clearly know nothing about.
This game rocks.
You just have like it the huge way. It’s kinda slow in the beginning and can be over in seconds, but it’s grand scale is unprecedented. It’s a lot of strategy whereas CoH is tactic, although I have to admit the latter is one of the best games I’ve ever played.
blech,
the screenshots look horrible.
the only good feature is the water effects.
but the units?!
oh dear god,
i don’t remember seeing such lazy design in years. i mean come on, it looks like it’s made of painted cardboard.
and 6.1 GB ???
i’ll stick with starcraft.
i dont play games
I agree, i played the demo and while it doesn’t feel like CoH, it doesn’t feel like Dune either. This is a very slow-paced game however, so if you’re the kind who enjoys starcraft or CoH and loves getting your adrenaline up, then this will probably be too boring for you. However, i enjoyed it immensly, because it has strategic overtones that starcraft and CoH lacked, and a more relaxed atmosphere so that i can focus on tactics and not just spamming units.
req. VISTA ^^
so fucked up dudes..
thanx for the post cant wait to try it i heard good stuff about it
@Danman: Your understanding of the English language is extremely far below the average. You obviously did not get a single word I wrote down there. I’m not comparing World War Two to futuristic robot wars. I’m comparing the level of intensity.
Also, Vista is not a requirement. Dunno why they put it in the minimum requirements. Probably because if you have Vista this game is specifically designed for Vista. It’s “Games For Windows” game so it’s completely integrated into your Games folder in Vista. Google “Games for Windows” to find out all about the special features Vista offers games with this brand.
Vista is NOT a requirement for normal gameplay.
Vista however, IS required for DX10 gameplay.
SupCom is a really great game, I love how big the maps are and the extent of the teather of war, the only problem is that it requires a pretty beefy system to run it @ full graphics on the biggest maps (Early game is good, but endgame is laggy).
6gb huh. Sometimes I wish rips were still around, this is not a game where I care about movies or anything.
Oh, by the way, “Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2, Vista” does not mean you need both…

I played the demo. First impression wasn’t very good, but playing the skirmish showed the power of the game. Does anybody knows is there a REALLY significant difference between graphics in DX9 and DX10 in this game? I have 8800GTS, and I don’t know if its worth to install Vista…

to @fca: i don’t want to install Vista as my primary system (its far too crapy), but I have a spare HDD. So I’m asking again: is it worth the trouble?
Wow, I’m surprised by all the negative comments in here but I’d like to add that PCGamer and PCGamerUK reviewed this and gave it a 91/100. It is one of the biggest PC games of the year and from what I’ve played in the MP beta, it delivered. The resource management in the game is a little frustrating but once you get used to that, its a lot of fun.
this game is fkn awsome! you need to have a few games, atleast 1hr or more to get the basics down pat.
remember you can adjust the speed of game using the “+” and “-” buttons. The speed goes from -10 to +10.
have fun! this is a great day for RTS with warfront TP is also out!
Ehm, dude… The DirectX 10 driver isn’t even released yet. Supreme Commander also doesn’t USE DirectX 10 so there’s no reason to get Vista for DX10 because Crysis will be the first true DX10 game and that game is still MONTHS away.
@Jooboo
dont even trouble ur self with vista right now!
stick to xp/
and if u want to try it on ur spare hhd go right ahead its preety nice o/s “still glitchy do!
Don’t forget War Front Turning Point and War Rocks are also released
No need to start throwing insults kevin, I did read what you said and you played the “demo” hence very different to the actual game, especially the multiplayer aspect of it. So don’t bother writing a review in future just copy and paste the game details. Enjoy!
to @Kevin and @fca: thanks for the advice
. I’ll stick to XP, as you said. Thanx again! BTW I won’t install Vista until I really need it.
@ Jooboo
You won’t need it until UT2007, Crysis etc.
At first I didn’t like this game because the demo campaigns sucked but if you play skirmish you see how awesome this game really is.
Company of Heroes is awesome, but it can’t come close to the kind of battles this game has mostly because there is no unit cap!
PS I can play with everything on high , 2xAA, 1280×960 with my 7900GT CO and Opteron 165. The graphics aren’t as detailed as CoH but they are good enough for such large maps and the battles are fairly epic.
Thanks for the review Kev, I hated COH though, but Supreme Commander has gotten some good reviews so far so I’m gonna get it.
UT2007 doesn’t use DX10 either.
And Danman, your the only one bothered by a bad review. People who start whining when a reviewer doesn’t have the exact same opinion as them are freakin retarded. Reviews are there for the reviewer to publish their opinions, not to please your ego.
You havent played the game though!! Reviewers don’t review a game until they have played the released version. Demo doesn’t count, end of discussion.
Kevin.
You did not write a review, you wrote your opinion.
Neither a review, nor your opinion do matter for readers of rlslog.net, so just keep both to yourself, collect the usual quick-facts and everyone is happy.
Everytime you guys try to make some classy comments, it doesn’t seem to work out right – but hey: it’s YOUR blog and I’m happy it’s there!
I never said it was a review I simply used Danman’s definition for the header. And I don’t write the header to make a difference in peoples life’s, I write down what ever I feel like writing down and I just don’t care what you guys think about it. Saying it’s irrelevant is fine, but so are ALL of your comments. I could choose not to check the comments, and I often choose not to reply when things get out of hand, because your comments are irrelevant. If you people would stop commenting it’s not like RLSLOG would die. To the contrary, we’d have a lot less shit coming from whining people like you.
I second that.
Were not whining, just basically stating facts about your written opinion. Its not an attack at you, your the one who is getting out of hand calling us “whining” “retarded” “crap at english” oh well what does that make you? Keep digging….
okay nVidia, the first DirectX 10 game is here, so where are those release drivers? Vista64 drivers? get your asses in gear!
AMD/ATI… ummm… you don’t even have a DirectX 10 card out yet? pathetic!
this will be the first DirectX 10 gaming video card benchmark, so should be interesting to see how DX9 versus DX10 performs and the different in performance between XP and Vista.
“I expected a reviewer on here to have a sensible opinion and to not slate a game that you clearly know nothing about.”
“So don’t bother writing a review in future just copy and paste the game details.”
I’m sorry for interpreting these sentences the way you intended them, insulting.
I’m done here.
Keep doing what your doing Kev, I for one love your slant (your normally right) and I get the newest stuff without having to trudge through BT or PB all day. Thanks!!
yeah kevin dont let those guy press ur buttons!!!lol
ur doing an amazing job keep up the good work bros!
“T
“TO ALL THE RLSLOG TEAM , U GUYS ROCK HARD, DONT LET ANY1 BREAK UR BALLS.
I GOT UR BACK! RELEASELOG! LOL\
I Agree he is doing a great service for everyone on this board
Thanks for the support guys, you’re the people I’m doing this for! The three of you have gotten a little surprise, check your mail.
great! thanxs alot kevin check ur mail i send u a lill message
******IMPORTANT********
Comparing Sup Com with CoH is a bit like comparing apples with pears, they might both grow on trees but have a very different taste. I played CoH and found it rather boring (which is, of course, my personal opinion, I am sure other people like it alot), while SupCom is fun for me to play. It requires alot more strategic thinking than the rts games that came out lately (and relied on tactical action mostly).
Supreme Commander WILL use DX10 after a DX10 update arrives in March. UT2007 will support DX10 right from launch as well. Age of Conan, Hellgate London, Frontlines: Fuel of War, Alan Wake and Crysis are other DX10 titles
Ok the demo IS boring. The game IS NOT. The game, once you get to the higher tech levels, is just about the best rts experience since starcraft. Plenty of action, plenty of strategy, AMAZING innovation (ferry waypoints, draggable waypoint spots, auto repair, tactical defense systems, etc). There is SO much to this game that the demo doesnt even touch on. So before some idiot reviewer bases his opinion on the whole game based on the demo, check it out for yourselves. And I found CoH to be a great idea, excellently executed but in the end, horribly boring. Im only to the end of the first races campaign in Supreme Commander so far, and Im loving it. I cant stop playing, its just so sweet. NUKES BABY NUKES YEAH!. But the fact that nukes arent even the biggest threat in the game is so sweet.
This game is big, realllly big, as big as it look. Probably bigger than you expected. Its amazing what theyve proven is possible with this game. I say this is the game of the year just because for the past 3 years the only thing ive played as religiously is world of warcraft. Thats saying a lot.
“The game feels like Dune!” That must be one of the most ridiculous statement about Supreme Commander ever. Dune was awesome. SupCom is much better, but it sure doesn’t feel like Dune.
“It all just feels static” I take back what I just said. Now THIS is the most ridiculous comment. Are you sure you played the game? At all?
(no personal offense intended)
Game sucked, dont waste your time with it.
fuck you you fuckin fuckass shitass cockass slut
suck my………… very nice grammer
Hi,
got the abovementioned release via torrent, mounted the .mds file in latest Daemon Tools, but it does not install. If I run setup.exe it does nothing, except printing (if run from command prompt): “Program too big to fit in memory”. From the properties it looks like an MSDOS program. Quite weird!
I’ve seen this problem posted already elsewhere: http://supremecommander.filefront.com/news/POTD_Problem_is_Fixed;34311 , but no solution yet.
How can it be fixed? Please help!
I am getting tired of these unworkable torrent releases.
I found the solution right after posting the problem. I happened to have PowerISO installed, so I also tried to mount the image with that. Now the setup started and hopefully it will install fine now. Although .mdf and .mds also appears in the open file dialog in PowerISO you have to select .mdf (gives error with .mds).
Versions, just for the record: PowerISO: 3.7. Daemon tools: 4.09 with STPD driver 1.50 (http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads/). I don’t have alcohol installed but I guess it would work also with that.
I tried to enable all the emulations in Daemon tools but that didn’t work.
Hey..
I downloaded this game in .001, .002 form. I joined it with hjsplit. I then mounted it and the autorun opens.
However when i click install nothing happens, setup.exe doesnt work either.
I have tried poweriso., same thing. Any ideas would be sweet..
