“Superman” camera sees through clothes

A British company has developed a camera that can detect weapons, drugs or explosives hidden under people’s clothes from up to 25 meters away in what could be a breakthrough for the security industry. The T5000 camera, created by a company called ThruVision, uses what it calls “passive imaging technology” to identify objects by the natural electromagnetic rays — known as Terahertz or T-rays — that they emit. The high-powered camera can detect hidden objects from up to 80 feet away and is effective even when people are moving. It does not reveal physical body details and the screening is harmless, the company says. The technology, which has military and civilian applications and could be used in crowded airports, shopping malls or sporting events, will be unveiled at a scientific development exhibition sponsored by Britain’s Home Office on March 12-13.

“Acts of terrorism have shaken the world in recent years and security precautions have been tightened globally,” said Clive Beattie, the chief executive of ThruVision. “The ability to see both metallic and non-metallic items on people out to 25 meters is certainly a key capability that will enhance any comprehensive security system.” The technology works on the basis that all people and objects emit low levels of electromagnetic radiation. Terahertz rays lie somewhere between infrared and microwaves on the electromagnetic spectrum and travel through clouds and walls. Depending on the material, the signature of the wave is different, so that explosives can be distinguished from a block of clay and cocaine is different from a bag of flour.

Wow, I guess it goes without saying that “יסמין גיל” there is a Jew, who can’t seem to understand that nobody in the western world cares for Israel, and would actually be relieved if it where gone. Think back to the Israeli bombing of Lebanon in 2006 – The Brits and the French arrived to aid the Lebanese!

Don’t forget that the Israelis bombed a U.N. station post to cover their tracks – like cheating, faceless cowards!

Anyone can be a “Terrorist” if you put them in that context!
Except where the jews do it, they call “counter insurgency.”
There’s no hiding what it is, and calling it by a different name doesn’t excuse the jews for their crimes against Humanity!

Another device to invade our privacy. And where will they place these camera’s. Recently in Holland an undercover reporter discovered that in the month that he
and a friend who worked at Schiphol Airport could smuggle stuff in and out a plane for a whole month. He even was able to place fake bombs without being checked properly since they were employees. While in the meantime civilians do get checked to a point that it is ridiculous and even can’t take something like toothpaste on the plane.

My fear is that if this device isn’t used properly it will only cause harm to innocent civilians in stead of helping them.

And could this device also be used on ship containers at harbours. Because that is the place where the most drugs come from. The amount of drugs that people carry with them that are going through customs at an airport is so small and laughable that in my opinion isn’t worth the trouble.

In the name of acting out against terrorism they come up with all sorts of measures. But have they actually helped and caught a terrorist or prevented something. I don’t know.
Freedom is a very precious good. And if we will continue to invent devices like this we will lose our freedom step by step.

This thing is SCARY. Great now in 5 years or less (especially if you live in England) it’s feasible that you could be walking down the street and get arrested a month later for the dime bag of pot you had in your pocket. Hello Big Brother. The road to facism has gotten much shorter. Grats fear mongering politicians. “Terrorism” is achieving its goal of destroying freedom. And its not the terrorists who are doing it.

educator – thats about as off topic as it gets! But while we are there…The British government has bought in hundreds of new laws over the last 10 years that have gradually erroded our civil liberties and our rights – most of time justified by the “war on terror”. This is just another example. Stupid thing is that the general public in the UK only ever see media controlled by 2 or multinationals, our views are molded by them to their own best gain. Yet we are too weak to vote them out or choose independance. Thats probably another reason why many countries hate us – for being dumb and not seeing the bigger picture. PS. I agree that Israel is out of order in may ways, there will never be peace in taht region until the UN makes both parties respect basic human rights!

Did anyone take time to actually read about T-Ray before commenting?? Did anyone even read the original post? Is there an ADD issue that causes people to read keywords in the title sentence and them give up? I don’t get it.

I work in the security industry and have seen this tech for a while now, though this has only just been developed for civillian use.

@2 – That’s the whole intent, and the way that UK courts allow street level cameras today, there is little doubt they would accept this too. It would be very useful at football stadiums where people are on the move and don’t need to be stopped to be checked.

@8 – Re: skin colours etc. No hope, it’s a different technology than X-Ray, if anything, you’d appear blue, green or orange (similar idea as with an Airport baggage scanner).

@11) When you finish ‘wandering’, you may find that standing still and wondering helps. LOL (Just a cheap poke, my typing is horrendous)

@17) No. Doesn’t work that way

@18) Shpping containers are a but of an issue due to the amount of ferrous metals used (not good for T-ray imaging), but similar scanners are used already, with the technology and accuracy improving all the time. That is a key intent of such technology.

@22)You need to find a KKK forum or go to Iraq for a few months with a stick in hand.

@25) Sorry, but you’ll have to stick to the shoe cam in the ladies changing rooms.

    That was fun, NEEEEXT!?

Hello again Boys and Girl its ur old pal Educator again come to bring you the second word of the day, “K/i/k/e”.

A jew, in a racist, discriminatory sense. According to Wikipedia, the term “k/i.ke” was at first a discriminatory word used by Jews who lived in Western Europe (France, UK or Germany) to refer to those who lived in Eastern Europe (Poland, Romania or Russia), whose family names often ended with “ki”. The term was later used by Christians and non-Jews against the whole Jewish population, so the term became a general ethnic slur against Jews in general.

1.- Mr. Manilowski did it, huh? Must be Polish, that d.amn k/i.ke…
    2.- You’re going to Auschwitz, you f.u/cking k/i.ke!

According to My old friend Mr. Oschlin, k/.i.ke means
“C/ockroach” in Arabic meaning they are everywhere you cant get rid of them you hate their breed and want to eliminate it out of its existence. therefore jews are referred to as “k/i.kes”

    da/mn k/i.kes they are everywhere!

And don’t give me the “that land belongs to the jews as said in the bible”. The bible is bloody fiction. I’ll write a book tomorrow claiming that the land where Israel is placed belongs to all black people, and then allow all africans to slaughter you and put you in camps. Maybe you can already try to find a jew who lived during WW2 and is still alive, he’ll explain you how to put up with it …

Hello once more Boys and Girls ur Old Pal Educator is back once more to give you the last word for the day so listen up and learn. Lets us now define the word “S.p/i.c”

A S/p.ic is A highly offensive racial slur referring to any Latino/Hispanic person. Latinos feel very strongly about this slur, it is basically the equivalent of calling a Black person a N/igg.er. If you call a Latino this word expect a fight!

    BillyBob: Hey S/p.ic!
    Latino: Que Maricon!
    BillyBob: Speak english, you s/pi.c!
Latino then knocks BillyBob out for being racist.
BillyBob arises from his state of consciousness, gets his gat, and busts a cap in the latinos ass and says “Take that you b.itch ass sp.i/c!”

At least Judaism is about excluding other religious groups and discouraging individuals from attempting to join the fold. While Islam and Christianity make a point of trying to impose their religious and cultural beliefs on others. Let’s see, who do I want as my neighbor… The fundamentalist loony who thinks I’m going to Hell and would probably help me get there given the opportunity, or the non-proselytizing, well educated, properly socialized to keep their religious opinions to themselves, European-American acculturated Israeli?

I’m guessing no one likes to be railed at about religion or pestered into salvation. I’ll keep my Jewish neighbors, thank you. At least I know they aren’t going to blow up my family shrine or call me a filthy pagan.

It is this form of complacency that will lead to the complete loss of our freedoms.

Bit by bit our liberties are chipped away, only small things, little infringements we can afford to let past as “It’s for our own benefit”. These build up.

There will come a point when even you will realise things have gone too far but by that point we will be powerless to do anything about it.

If you look at the original story from the BBC website and the company’s own website you will see that this is different to similar products that already exist at some airports. Existing cams of this type use low level x-rays and there have been health concerns with their use. This camera system does not and is therefore completely safe (even if the health effects of low level x-rays haven’t been looked at yet). The company also say this isn’t as intrusive, cameras that use x-rays can see all your naughty bits, this claims not to. Shame really, if I was to fly through an airport with that i know has an x-ray version i’d take a couple of viagra before hand :)
