I don’t know what you guys see in spybot.IMO it’s outdated.The power of this tool,is similar to kaspersky.I mean it uses Api request similar to kaspersky for more in depth search.This means that if it’s got the signature for malware it will see it and probably remove it.I don’t say that this will discover all the malware but it’s definetly got more chance than other scanners.I don’t use it,for realtime protection i trust my avira guard,and of course i open all warez in sandboxie first.
After I did a complete scan w/ SAS, I scanned w/ Spybot and it found 6 threats.
I’m sure they ware cookies,and those are not threats even if sas also scans for them.Choose whatever you like.if u didn’t have problems with spybot,stay with it.If it ain’t broke ,…..you know the rest.
gentles relax, every software has different advantages. i m using spybot 1.5.2 – ad-aware pro 2007 7.0.2.7 and SaS pro 4.1.1046
sas real time protection is cool. and i recommend kis 7!

I tried it a year ago.
- Nod32/Kaspersky found no virus or cleared them
- Spybot found ~10 spyware/virus (and cleared them)
- Spybot found no spyware/virus in the second round
- SAS found 4 other spyware after Spybot and cleared them
I liked it.

well i think avorax shield is very good,spybot mysteriously dissappeared from desktop maybe a hacker go through it open ports??someone should make a taskmanager shield,reg shield and a system 32 shield that all we need isnt it lads???apart from that avg and mcafee does the job really well,dont download norton rubbish it froze my pc up like the bush speech war on terror

So basically Martin infects a whole lot of people, then finds the one tool that removes it, all for free and then the next day they post the cracked version of the professional program by this small company? Yeah good way to go Martin. Talk about screw over the people who helped you. Shows how heartless RLSLOG is.
Thanks for post, the problem with these apps is I can never really tell which anti virus/anti spyware is better. For a good free alternative there is always avg, they offer anti virus and anti spyware, I had previously been using nod32, avg detected viruses on my system that nod32 missed.
Oh yes, that’s a good one. Thank the software maker that removed your malware by posting links for people f.cking rip off the professional version of their product, nice.

Well, in this case, i’ll stay with the free version. I won’t be d’loading this pro version, just to show my support for this company. The free version itself is very nice and lightweight. When i get paid next week from work, i’ll go buy the professional version or just donate something to keep the free version free.
Some things are worth paying for once in a while. Folks, at least just donate something to the company..geez.

I downloaded the pro version yesterday after reading Martins article and it definately finds more malware etc than other spyware progs ive tried. I’ve got that running through a date cracking type program but i dunno if its working or not ‘cos theres no daily countdown: so ill be downloading this just in case….ta very much
@ stewie : Some ppl may never buy the product,, but others of us do. Personally, i like to give apps a good 6-12 month testing; then if theres been no problems ill buy it. I reckon this one will end up getting paid for; it really is very good
Sorry for being off topic, but I have nod32 v2 and i feel like i need the new version, but there are no good working cracks for it, so I see everyone here or mostly everybody loves avg, now is there a new version of avg and what group released it. Also, is avg better than nod32? and the truth please! Also does avg make mmy pc go slower, I like how nod32 doesn’t take up much of my resources, i forget i have it running in the background

Help!! Our family computer has a trojan downloader hidden in my Java application data. Nod32 is no help at all. Neither are this program or Spybot. I really don’t want to do a fresh install. Does anyone know a good program to remove this infection?
@54- As far as antivirus goes, I’ve been using the patched version of nod32 2.7 that resets the trial every 30 days. I would use avg for free if I wasn’t using this b/c any cracked antivirus will shortly be blacklisted.

Theres a few programs out there that let you run programs from the date YOU specify ~ very good for making fully equipped trial versions last forever. I’ve a few 30 day trials ive been using for months that are still on day 1

Since I was informed of VirusTotal.com a few days ago on this site (WinRAR incident), I’ve been checking most of the software installation files that I “collected” over the years.
Turns out more than half of them got multiple hits from some of the 32 anti-virus programs at VirusTotal.
But Most of those programs did NOT catch Most of virii. Seems like just one anti-virus program — even the best one — is no where good enough.

@ 43! I use no virus protection at all and haven’t had a virus for 2 years or so. You just have to know how to set up your pc for safety and know exactly what your installing. I’d rather spend 10 minutes making my pc secure after an install than have a niche market operating system that supports a tiny number of games and apps by comparison. When are you MAC users finally going to concede that your using the Danni Minogue of operating systems and always will be. I work at as a computer technician and when people come into our store I take great pleasure in literally telling them to go away if they come in with a MAC

Stop comparing it with NOD32. This is an Antispyware, not Antivirus program.
@#55 – delete your java cache – you are using Sun Java I hope? – control panel – java – general tab – temporary internet files – settings – delete files……this is old style from “byte verify” type that is in java cache (protected)- hopefully should work – rescan after delete….

I’m constantly blown away by how dumb some folks can be. People get a virus from pirated software, then download a pirated anti-virus application to fix the problem. I’m willing to bet most of those whom got infected by WinRAR use all kinds of great top of the line security related software, all of which happens to also be pirated as well. Geez, no wonder bad sh!t happens to your PC’s! It’s like trusting a hungry wolf to guard sheep for heavens sake!
I’m not saying I’m perfect either as I use pirated stuff too. I try to avoid it if there are any good alternatives that are free though, preferably open source if possible. I draw the line at security programs. If any kind of cracking is involved, I won’t use it for example. I will run a keygen (sandboxed of course) for one though. And despite my hard line “saftey comes first” stance, I’ve never found myself forced to pay for a single program due to a lack of options. I’ve been a computer geek since the days of the Apple II+ and have never in all those years been infected, not even once. Must be doing something right, eh?
Sorry if my comments sound harsh, but it’s not like this is rocket science we’re talking about. Just simple basic common sense with a dash of logic. Sigh…
Anyone who uses AVG deserves to get infected. This program isn’t bad. I’ve used it before. Much, much better than Spybot.

Don’t waste your time dowmloading after a couple of days crack doesn’t work and it goes back to the trial version
