Super Bowls Greatest Commercials 2008 PDTV XviD-FQM
The American Super Bowl XLII (42) is set to be broadcast next weekend Feb 3rd. The New England Patriots (16-0) will be facing off against the New York Giants (10-6) at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The half-time show is nothing that our generation would care about, as Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers perform (warning, opinionated statement). With the posting of this greatest super bowl commercials 2008, I wanted to take the chance to prepare those in advance for when the super bowl has finished airing.
Don’t fret about missing the game on TV, because shortly after (within the next day or earlier) there will be scene releases of the super bowl. (so no crappy home-made taping is required!) Also the scene releases will give you an opportunity to archive, burn and watch or examine the game at a later date. Also for people who don’t have the proper TV channels or just don’t watch TV and download it, this is the way to go. Typically, the PDTV version will arrive first (which was 3CDs in size for the PDTV version last year, by GORE. Shortly after this, the HDTV version should arrive, which will be in WideScreen 624×352 rather than 512×384 FullScreen. The HDTV rip will also be 3CDs or 2100MB, like last year’s release by FQM. For those with modern CPUs, you will be able to playback the high-definition version of the super bowl, which this year should be released in 720p x264. Note this version will be in the multiple giga-bytes. This release should arrive last, but if you can wait then you will be rewarded with perfect high-def quality.
Second, due to the long running time and file sizes of the scene releases (in order to preserve quality) public torrents will just not cut it, unless you want to wait a week for them to finish downloading. The fastest ways to get the rips will be to register to a good private torrent site that uploads TV torrents. Private torrent sites force you to play ‘by the rules’ and this way everyone can download fast, rather than public trackers that newbs use and can’t figure out why their downloads are so slow all the time. A good place to look is here.
Greatest Commercials 2008 of the Super Bowl, does not show the commercials for the current 2008 superbowl, rather it shows past ads. Since almost everyone watches the super bowl on tv, the cost of a 30-second commercial is set at USD $2.7 million. That’s $90,000 a second! Every year, (including this year, blah blah spoiler stfu) The Coke ‘Mean Joe Green’ wins.

A retrospective on the most memorable ads aired during the Super Bowl. The best commercial is chosen by viewers who vote via the Internet. Hosts: Jim Nantz and Daisy Fuentes.

“the cost of a 30-second commercial is set at USD $2.7 million. That’s $90,000 a minute!”
Wouldn’t that be $5.4 million per minute?
it just sucks to watch the game and already know the result. it would be hard to miss the superbowl but if you cant get the channel for some reason, try http://myp2p.eu . this is how i watch all of my out of market celtics games live as they happen. the wuality suffers but honestly id rather see it live than HD…ideally id have tivo and start the game 30 minutes late so i can skip all the commercials…though not with the super bowl
he meant 90k per second, just a typo
Tom Petty being nothing that “our generation” would care about? You are a complete moron Mr. X. Tom Petty is legendary and there are tons of younger kids that still listen to him. Check his album sales – he’s one of the top artists of all time.
You are an idiot who needs to run spell check, and think before you submit stupid comments.
Yawn……. a torrent for commercials huh lmao
I belive that the Superbowl won’t be as lopsided as everyone might think.
Go giants…
Superbowl commercials are just as much part of the GAME
the superbowl is thy most watched show on earth!
Dont get all uptight bout it. Mr X just doesnt know much about music i guess, he’s not a musician either i take it too because any musician in “our generation” would surely know Tom Petty.
I dont think the Superbowl got Tom Petty because he was last option and no one else would do it, you should erase that Mr X.
If they is trying to cater to all ages then why would they get him to perform at all.
‘our generation’ i mean 16-24, not 50 years old and lame.
i’m 22 you idiot. I happen to just know (and care) a little more than you about music I guess…
then go listen to your britney spears record and watch american idol and chronically masturb4te turd burglar
I’ll gladly go do that.
Who is Tom Petty?….. i am so serious haha
Tom Petty is in no way even close to Britney Spear or American Idol.
Hip Hop is killing music nowadays. No one even gives a crap for the real good music, they just listen to their simple rap beats that just copy lyrics/samples off one another.
If you can’t respect Tom Petty a little bit, you are pathetic and know nothing about music. One day it’s going to hit you, and you will be wondering why you’ve been listening to crap all along.
to 14 – you’ve heard his stuff. Just check out American Girl. You’ve had to have heard it at least once.
What is it with people getting on a poster’s case for their typos, opinions, etc.? If it wasn’t for posters taking the time to post, there would be no blog. If you don’t like a post, let it go!!
I appreciate Mr. X and all the others taking time out of their lives to keep us up to date on here! I check this site multiple times daily and can honestly say that I would be missing it if it were gone. Thanks!
Mr. X…i generally agree with you but how can u say our generation doesnt care about tom petty…i am part of “our” generation and I love tom petty…grew up listening to him…he’s a great singer and songwriter and much better than the packaged pop crap that is shown every year…heck i would rather watch him then janet jackson’s floppy titty any day…
@16 american girl is good but ya gotta listen to refugee…its a classic
19 – That’s good stuff. American Girl is just a common Petty example. Refugee is good stuff. Get a Greatest Hits CD and expand your library if nothing else!
http://www.mininova.org/get/760414 to get the torrent for his Greatest Hits.
got the greatest hits…lol it was one of the very few cd’s that I have actually bought and worth every penny
Payton’s pep talks have got to get it. Some of them are hilarious. Would console Eli too when he loses if he knew his bro won ad competition. Mr X isn’t a complete sleaze after all, loving the football posts. Any ideas where one can find regular season games as they happen with rs links? For next season obviously. I’m non-US so i’m not just being stingy, and myp2p is starting to annoy me.
by ‘as they happen’ i mean, within 24 hours of the game taking place, just to clarify.
Mr X is right for once. I DON’T care about Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. He hasn’t had a hit in over a decade. Same with Prince last year. Maybe next year they’ll get Cher to perform and everyone will be treated to a view of her wrinkled meatflaps.
Meet.The.Spartans.CAM.XViD-HooKah
is out.
and i love these commercials…
let me get this straight…
we’re pirating the COMMERCIALS now?
@25, really ???
yawn at NFL.
@27, yes really.
idk if its on any public sites yet or not… but im gettin it right now, and the sample looks GREAT!
Mr X
you’re just always sticking your foot in your mouth!!
TOM PETTY ROCKS! try to remember that all types of music lovers DL from this site too! try thinking about what you write before hand..why dont you tell us who you listen to, that way we can criticize your choice of music. GROW UP!

I know u are not saying Prince has not had a hit in years. He has had 5 top selling singles in the last four years. He has had more hits in his career than most of your top so-called artist of the under 30 crowd has had all 2gether. Most singers and rappers but mostly musicians are greatly inspired by Prince, Tom Petty, Bruce Springstein, Stevie Wonder, Mike Jacko, David Bowie, Billy Idol, Madonna, Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, Elton John…and on and on. Some are inspired by some of these people and don’t even know it.
There are only a few original artist out there now. That’s why the ones I named still can put albums out and go platinum. The people that come out now a days are entertainers and that i only. I like artist who know how to entertain. by the way – i am in that young crowd but i know the art of music.
“One Love”
btw, thanks for the super-mercials mr x
the only way Mr X can ever be right, is if by some miracle the whole left side of his body was missing!! BTW i love the commercials during the super bowl! too bad the COWBOYS didnt make it!! anyways, GO SPURS GO!
Who is Tom Petty and the heartbreakers?
Was it one of those bands that hit in the 80’s?
hey

Who is Tom Petty and the heartbreakers?

Yes
Why would anyone want to watch that?
“The American Super Bowl XLII (42) is set to be broadcast next weekend Feb 3rd.”
It’s not the American Super Bowl, it’s just the Super Bowl.
“The half-time show is nothing that our generation would care about, as Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers perform.”
Really? So you think only one generation uses this site? You speak for your entire generation?
“Don’t fret about missing the game on TV”
Isn’t one of the best part of watching sports, watching a game live?
@8 More people watch the wold cup than the Superbowl.
So more people watch this crap than The soccer world Cup and The Olympics huh? wow.
By the way, Tom Petty had an album in the billboards top 5 in 2006 and an album in the top 10, 2002.
Ner!
@38 I think you mean the ‘World’ Cup?
lol, trust rlslog staff to get excited about adverts, lol!
@ Mr. X “The half-time show is nothing that our generation would care about, as Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers perform.”
Mr. X,
You assume everyone on here is in “your generation”. Don’t be so sure!
Kind of like Tom Petty.
Will watch.
Wasnt it called the X generation that was around when Tom Petty was the man.
@ #8
Being that your entire world in the USA… that might be right.
I do enjoy watching it, and im from Portugal, but, it cannot be compared to the real football, not your american football.
Most of the American based games are filled with cheap thrills and easy ways to score, also with alot of points being given. That’s why when I hear or read about you people talking about, the sport that you gave name, soccer, calling it boring, and that there are never goals, and that games can end in 0 – 0, or 1 – 1… Makes me think how can so ignorant people be one of the most powerfull nation,
I don’t care about the Super Bowl at all.
Most of the world but USA dont care about it either lol
Why are you USA people so excited about f* commercials? Doesn’t matter if they cost 100 mil, it’s still very sad… :’(
#44 You like the rest of the American hating world just show off how jealous you are of us and our lifestyle. I happen to think soccer is a great sport. In fact The Tampa Bay Rowdies was my favorite team back in the day and I played soccer all the way through high school. But “American Football” is a more exciting and easier game to follow from a spectator standpoint. You and Mr X should move in together!!!
PS if it was not for the U.S. most of you would be speaking German or Russian because you couldn’t fight your way out of a wet paper bag
Superbowl sucks my wang.
And americans are all ugly.
Halo 3 is much better than superbowl
hahahaha11!!111!!!!!11!!111!!
Typical American comment.. “if it was not for the U.S. most of you would be speaking German or Russian because you couldn’t fight your way out of a wet paper bag” lmao!
I agree. The Super Bowl is more about the commercials than the game. The Giants gave the Pats a good fight just before New Years. I hope it’s a decent game. But why does this board always turn into an American bashing session? Sure most of the Europeans are happy where they are. But look at all the Mexicans, Arabs, and Indians who come to America. Most of the brown skinned people seem happy here. Why not let them enjoy it?
@52: haha, youre kidding right? look at all the discrimination thats happening in america… unbelievable… and by the way: in europe theres a lot more foreign people in a country and they are much happier than Mexicans, etc. in America…
NFL is thy most contact pro sport out there!
Soccer is more international!
Nfl is a high scoring game because thats part of the game there can be different kind of points etc… its part of the fun
#48
I’m not, like you said, part of the American hating world, like in all things, there are some parts that I, and we love, and others that we hate.
“But “American Football” is a more exciting and easier game to follow from a spectator standpoint.”, thanks for proving my point that Americans run on cheap thrills and basic emotions.
I just cannot belieave that America is one of the most powerfull nations having so many defects.
And i’m glad that you can apreciate a true sport that doesnt invole contact as a primary objective.
About the WW2 comment, i would like to point out that America didnt had a choice of being or not being in the war, sooner or later they would be involved. Btw, looking at the bulk of the all the wars America been recently involved, I would like to risk that you people arent that smart or great about wars, and you tell us that we couldn’t fight our way out of a wet paper bag.
Mr. X please respect the classics and yes its been 25 years the 80’s are classics. I listen to all sorts of new metal cant stop listening to BTBAM’s Colors. I am 24 I have been pirating with my dad since the BBS of 1988, so i am more part of this generation than you Mr. X(BTW just got the simpsons reference). I’ve grown up listening to Tom Petty and he is one artist who never sold out. Im gonna go out on a limb here and guess that mr. X’s favorite music is Barbara Streisand and that hes probably foriegn
Super what?
Bowl. As in, load a bowl and spark it up!
what’s all the fuzz about this game anyway ?
is it like the champions league soccer in europe ?
i’m gonna dl it out of curiousity .. thx to rlslog
offtopic .. to all you home-loving-american twats -> europe watches Michael Moore to you know
this show sucked ass
Finally proof that Mr.X is a 13 year old running rlslog!
im only 17 and tom petty along with bob dylan, hank williams, and many other are my favorite singers!! the completely rock. especially over then stupid pop/rap singers!!!
If we don’t watch the Superbowl, the terrorists will win
i’m used to the bashing that goes on about the US, and a lot of it comes from our politicians with their heads up their a$$es.
i don’t generalize and put other countries down with the “we’re better” attitude. i’ve come to know people around the world, and enjoy learning about things that aren’t US-centric. I enjoy both kinds of football, and can’t wait for the next champions league games at the end of february (they do take long enough between these two rounds)
i apologize for feeding the troll with my earlier comment, i should have known better.
cheers
for all the sports fans, if you prefer to watch games live (or almost) a site i’ve used to see many premiership games on my pc is
http://myp2p.eu
has links to all kinds of sports around the world as well as links to the programs needed to view them. they will have the superbowl live if your cable doesn’t happen to offer it. i also have used it for out of market american football games.

@5 you said it best — mr x is a moron, tom petty is quite possibly the most talented artist to play the superbowl half time show — i listen to mostly metal, but i listen to all type of music and im 24 years old (part of our generation)
but i bet Mr X. would also say that nobody in our generation listens to the beatles
or that led zeppelin is for old people
@14 (ZonaJona) –
“Hip Hop is killing music nowadays. No one even gives a crap for the real good music, they just listen to their simple rap beats that just copy lyrics/samples off one another.”
wow. so mr x is wrong for not showing tom petty a little respect, but its ok for you to rip on hip hop because you dont like it? like all genres, hip hop has its good and its bad. some artists are merely bandwagoners, and do indeed just rip off other peoples lyrics and flagrantly use samples in a fairly boring way. id say kanye west is one such ‘artist’ but a lot of people would disagree with me, and fair enough.
but the point is, you cant condemn a whole genre, just because you dont like it…
and personally, im 24, i like a diverse and eclectic range of music, i am a musician and producer (guitar keys vocals drums and clarinet), i make or record music of all kinds of genres (rock of all shapes and sizes, hip hop, dance, etc), and i actually agree with mr x – i think tom petty makes lame, middle of the road stadium rock (ideal for the superbowl really)…
mr x was wrong to generalise his tastes to ‘our generation’, but ffs people, what is it with all this righteous indignation? someone says some off the cuff remark you dont like and suddenly everyone’s shouting them down! grow up! opinions are just opinions, and if you dont agree with someone, thats not a reason to go to war with them!
cheers mr x, for posting something which i would not otherwise have glanced at – and for providing some useful info on when to expect the game to appear.
oh, and @67 (suicidesaints) – dont go putting words into other peoples mouths. i like the beatles and led zep, maybe mr x doesnt, but what does that matter? stfu.
Alright everyone, I read all the comments and I believe that I have made an over-generalization about Tom Petty, and I apologize for that . But I hope those of you can remember that this still is a blog, so editor’s opinions will be allowed at all times. Thanks for understanding !
Tell Mrs. X i said HI! and thanks for breakfast
the greater question: is tom petty emo?
Ahhhh…. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, another great group that got even greater because of MTV:
“You Got Lucky”, “She’s A Woman In Love”, “Damn the Torpedoes”, “Don’t Do Me Like That”, “Refugee”, “Runnin’ Down a Dream”, “The Waiting”, “Don’t Come Around Here No More”, “I Won’t Back Down”, “Free Fallin’”, “Mary Jane’s Last Dance”.
“Don’t Come Around Here No More” is still one of the best Music Video I ever seen on the original MTV!!
@71 (tucker)
- lol! emo!? nah, id say more MOR
A drive anyone
I want to know more about the private torrent site references made. Are they really faster? I tried sceenleach and funkytorrents and am very disappointed.
1st im 30 and I agree, tom petty is a has been
I also agree that hiphop/rnb is ruining the music industry
but, I really want a torrent of al yesterday’s ads (now that demonoid is dead it’s really hard to find those non scene releases), i could not care less about the game itself as football is probably the most boring sport(after curling)
