Super Bowl Halftime Show 2008 Tom Petty HDTV XviD-2HD

Well, now that the Super Bowl XLII halftime show has been pred, it should be a few more hours until we get to see the full superbowl release. (no guarantees I can post them tonight) The 2008 edition of the half-time show features a live performance by Tom Petty And The Heart Breakers. Being that this event is practically a music video, it’s 12 minutes long and 175MB in size. Being that 23 minute shows are usually left to 175MB, 2HD was left with lots of room to increase bitrates in the audio and video department, including an amazing 384k CBR AC3 surround sound audio stream. The songs performed were “American Girl,” “I Won’t Back Down,” “Free Fallin’ ” and “Runnin’ Down a Dream.”

I’d have to recommend that no one download the full superbowl, if it’s released. It really sucked, as did the commercials. Oh well. I mean, it’s good, because the team I wanted to win, won, but it still sucked…

To me it was better than when U2 and Paul McCartney did it.Although I wish he would have sung Mary Jane’s Last Dance while he dance with Hayden Panettiere in a NY Giants cheerleading uniform pretending to be dead while he grope her like in the video that would have been funny disturbing but funny.

The term “pre’d” in scene talk means pre-released. That is the first step in a scene group release. Once it is pre-released, then it becomes released.

@17 “This performance sucked and that is to say the least. Who listens to Tom Petty, besides rednecks?”
Have not seen it yet as I fell asleep before the show (as happens every year if I have no beer to keep me awake as it’s on middle of the night here in Europe)
But something like 1990 or so, maybe a bit earlier, all the regular-kind-of-girls (that is to say, the minority who did not prefer heavy metal) loved him so I started to like him as well hearing the songs lots, lots of times.

As for the haters/children/wannabees/neverwillbees, feel free to go back to your 50 Cent or Britney or whatever untalented flavor of the month is being foisted on a generation of asshats that can’t seem to appreciate any music more than a week old.

The Halftime show was AWESOME. Anyone who would post a negative comment about this iconic rock’n roll band definitely lacks good-taste when it comes to music. Just watch the response of the ENTIRE arena during the halftime show. Watch and learn!

CONCLUSION: NO, they couldn’t have picked a better band for this.

I would rather see a nipple blunder. The only reason Tom Petty sung was because he has a album and tour coming.Ask Tom what 2 teams were playing?bet he could care less. This is a football game and If Tom wants to promote his new album and sing some old songs.GO TO MTV.

this was the best halftime concert ever !!!

all you noobs should watch peter bogdanovich’s “runnin’ down a dream” and find out where the heart of rock’n'roll is !

and the stage was great with that arrow shaped like a d1ck moving across the entire field to penetrate the heart, haha, talk about a heartbreakers double-meaning
plus what other concert can you see the crowd running towards the stage when the band is already playing ?!? hope noone tripped and got trampled…

The heart pierced by the arrow shaped guitar is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers logo from their first album. The double meaning is obvious. The speed at wich the guitar pierced the heart was about the same pace the band moved at. It went in once and never came out.

I like Tom Petty and have a few of his albums. Well all of em if you include torrent discographies but I thought the performance was a little subdued. I wouldn’t say he rocked em hard. He looks like he’s been training with Keith Richards. Just my 2 cents. Not trying to stir it up lol

  76. not a show, but a band
    February 4th, 2008 | 12:12

So finally saw it, more like a regular concert than a “show”, nothing wrong with the music but it would be the same to listen to the record. Best half-time show of the ones that I have seen was the one with several bands instead of only one.

    @74
“plus what other concert can you see the crowd running towards the stage when the band is already playing ?!?”

They are not the crowd but part of the “show”

great halftime show, i liked it ! i’ll look for these songs and others by tom petty later on. i was surprised how good it was actually as i only knew tom petty because of his song, free fallin’. at one point we see a really nice and busty girl bouncing and dancing in the front row, wow ! great moment, too bad it only lasted 2 seconds ! :-(

i liked the game as well, especially the 2nd half, i was hoping for a close game, i didnt really care who won as long as it was close. that last drive by manning to go ahead was a fantastic moment though, i wonder if that over the helmet catch will get a nickname in the future ?? it really should ! :-)
