Sunshine 720p Bluray x264-SEPTiC

Here is another popular movie, “Sunshine” available in HD, released by SEPTiC… Enjoy.

Plot: Danny Boyle has excelled in nearly every genre he’s touched from the family film (MILLIONS) to the zombie movie (28 DAYS LATER) to the drug-fuelled drama (TRAINSPOTTING). With SUNSHINE, he brings his style and verve to the futuristic world of science fiction to great success. In a mere five decades in the future, the sun is dying, and Earth is running out of time. After the failure of a previous mission, it’s up to the crew of the Icarus II to reignite the star with a stellar bomb. But the crew faces more than just the blistering heat of the sun and the freezing cold of space as they grapple with the limits of the human mind and heart. As in Boyle’s previous work, the visuals in SUNSHINE are stunning. It’s a beautifully shot film filled with contrasts, juxtaposing light and dark, sound and silence, and life and death. SUNSHINE resides in the respected realm of smart science fiction films such as 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and SOLARIS. Alex Garland’s fine script never dwells on the specifics of the technology, but instead spends its time on the characters. For these roles, Boyle has assembled an excellent cast that includes Cillian Murphy, Chris Evans, Michelle Yeoh, and Cliff Curtis. Like the classic 2001, SUNSHINE’s appeal extends beyond its genre. Though it’s packed with special effects and heart-stopping action, it’s an intelligent film that should be enjoyed by everyone who loves movies, not just those who like science fiction.

@6: Don’t troll the contributors. That’s not what he said, you can’t spell league, and 2001 was slow and boring compared to this.

The music to this film is amazing, some guy ripped the audio from the film because the Soundtrack has been delayed because of legal reasons. Listening to it now, great job they did too.

You can’t watch it on a normal DVD player, you can fit the file on a standard DVD and play it on your PC though with VLC player.

Mine is connected to my TV – that’s the best way to view MKV Hi Def files.

I wonder if anyone can help
When a Playback most DTS HD MKV files like this one I of get often small breaks in the DTS sound that is sent to my amp through my SPDIF port (I use AC3 filter set for SPDIF output and have a Realtek HD sound card)
This can be fixed just by unchecking the DTS box on AC3 filter and it plays back in DD 5.1 but it would be nice to have full DTS without the sound breaks.

you can watch this in normal dvd player – just use convert x to dvd this preserves surround sound / subtitles etc. but slight lessening of quality (unless you use DL dvd)

    @Super stuff
I very happy with the PC playback of these HD MKV files on my HDTV and I wouldn’t want to down sample to DVD
It’s just the sometimes I get a 1 second drop-out in DTS signal output
Really I am looking for the perfect setup settings for AC3 filter or an AC3 filter alternative

is this scientifically correct? I mean how could a bomb replace that much hydrogen, not to mention the heavier elements as stars start to fuse those. is it worth watching if you have some knowledge of fusion or is it total bs? stargate was fun to watch cause they had some solar episodes and it was sorta believable and scientific

    March 20th, 2008 | 17:39

It’s a lot closer to something resembling real science than Stargate. Seriously you know nothing of fusion. Anyway if you watch movies for their scientific veracity you’re missing the point.

    March 20th, 2008 | 19:56

Great film, tempted to grab it but it will probably be on TV soon and I don’t want to burn out on watching it.

The science isn’t terrible, the only reason people complain is because it doesn’t blatantly avoid scientific explanation like most films do. People will happily watch the Core because that was never meant to be realistic, even though it’s a horrible movie.

The idea is that an entity called a Q-Ball is upsetting the balance and causing the sun to structurally fail. That’s not made up, it’s a real theory. People just assume that the sun has “run out” of fuel, which is where things start to go wrong.

In the film the sun isn’t dying, so the bomb is absolutly not supposed to replace Hydrogen or whatever. The bomb just cause boom for something else… :

The plot does not revolve around the sun dying in the normal sense: this is not due for around five billion years based on our understanding of nuclear fusion. It has instead been “infected” with a “Q-ball” – a supersymmetric nucleus, left over from the big bang – that is disrupting the normal matter. This is a theoretical particle that scientists at CERN are currently trying to confirm, and was one of the many contributions of the science advisor. The film’s bomb is meant to blast the Q-ball to its constituent parts which will then naturally decay, allowing the sun to return to normal.

  26. koala
    March 20th, 2008 | 20:17

So the sun has been changed, infected, and the bomb in some way ables the sun to return to it’s normal state.
The quote in my post above is just from the trivia in imdb ^^.

    *********************************************************************
    *********************************************************************
**** BREAKING NEWS FOR ALL THE BLURAY B00NS OUT THERE ****

    *********************************************************************
    *********************************************************************

If you can play a downloaded file on your DVD player DEPENDS ON YOUR PLAYER, NOT on the rip SOURCE.

Most of the DVD players out there can handle all the common containers like mpeg, avi, e.g. as well as the common codecs (XviD, DivX, e.g.).

So, if you download a DVD Rip of a movie as an avi, you will be able to burn it onto a DVD and your player will play it. If you download the same movie in another format, such as mkv (Matroska), you will still be able to burn it onto a DVD as long as it fits there, but YOUR PLAYER WILL NOT PLAY IT BACK, since most of the currently available players DO NOT SUPPORT .mkv YET!

Why .mkv then? The container is more effective, allows better compression with less visible drawback,s thus the picture quality is an overall improvement to avi.

So what is the bottom line?

LOOK AT THE FILE EXTENSION, NOT AT THE SOURCE: As long as you have the right codecs installed, your computer will play anything you download. The combined community codec pack (CCCP) for instance will allow you to watch anything as long as your PC is fast enough. I have an Athlon XP 2500+ with 1 Gig RAM. It plays 720p rips well enough, but jerks with 1080p rips.

LOOK AT THE FILE EXTENSION, NOT AT THE SOURCE: If your DVD player can handle .mkv format, you will be fine. Most of the currently available players (if not all) can not.

And last but not least, for all those who are incapable of reading or usually don’t like to read more the three letters in a row, there is the last quintessence of what I wrote:

THE SOURCE OF A RIP DOES NOT MATTER! IF THE PLAYER CAN HANDLE THE FILE EXTENSION, YOU CAN PLAY IT.

P.S.: Spread the word. Post this answer where ever this question pops up. THanks for listening. Missing Link out.
