Stupid Australian pirates busted by police
Police claim they have smashed a $12 million-a-year pirate DVD ring in three raids on houses in Melbourne’s west. The raids busted Australia’s largest pirate DVD syndicate, with 170 DVD burners and more than 400,000 pirated discs allegedly seized, said operations director Neil Gane from the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT). Victorian and federal police and AFACT investigators first searched a home in Sunshine West following reports from the public of suspicious activity, Mr Gane said. More than 250,000 discs and 100 burners were recovered, he said.

A 49-year-old man is assisting police with inquiries. Two houses at St Albans were later searched, where 70 more burners and more than 150,000 discs were allegedly found. The same addresses were raided in November last year, Mr Gane said. The two alleged burner labs, running 170 burners 10 hours per day, seven days per week, could produce more than four million discs a year with a street value of more than $12 million, he said. The haul allegedly included copies of latest release films including American Gangster, I am Legend, and Alvin and the Chipmunks, which are showing in cinemas and have not yet been released on legal DVDs. These idiots misusing the scene for burning and selling the releases make me always sick, they deserve what they asked for.

wow
Btw yay first! lol… anyways.. i’m so surprised by this, what will this do for our future?
that’s one hell of a lot of dvd burners
all that money on that hardware and supposedly making $12mil a year yet they had to use a pallet turned on its side for a desk
It’ll do nothing for “our” future.
@armin (2)
ha ha, more like you wish you were first!!
gutted for these guys, didnt realise that was how piraters made all the movies they sell on the streets.
lol and i faught that my two burners re alot for one pc XD
No great loss, since they are the guys selling rips on streets and in markets. I’m kinda suprised the report only values 4 million discs at $12 million. I’m sure a long time ago before p2p was around, I paid more than $3 for such a copy. Well, now we have torrents, these bandits don’t really serve a purpose to our generation. Now if they were giving them away free, that would be a different matter!
Glad it wasn’t any of the important crowd!
Sounds like the guy who was caught gave up all locations and associates too. So much for taking one for the team!
peeps.
im sure that pic is from a bust in the uk a year or so back, anyway surprised there was no prostitution/terrorism or drug dealing involved with this??and im surprised you didnt call the guy Nigel hehehe
#9: it really is from the uk bust
WTF? that is a lot of f’n burners!!! the other day i was at my local computer store and saw a guy buy $2000 in external harddrives that were on sale it looked like he had a similar opperation going…
Me and my little downloading is nothing compared to these
people….
all i can say is wow….
What kinda fools dont realise that you can download this stuff for free anyways? =P
oh well. they were busted a year ago and then again this year. I guess next year we’ll read about them again.
I wonder if they had a Christmas party like other offices in December? That’s my random thought for the day.
“What kinda fools dont realise that you can download this stuff for free anyways? =P” The stupid ones ?
lol
lol @ 15 xD
@13 ReeGed
You’d be surprised mate! My flatmates had no idea what torrents were or that you could get free movies that way. There’s a lot of pirates selling stuff on the streets near where I live. On a Saturday they put all their fake DVDs on a blanket and crowds swarm around to buy stuff. I always laugh whenever I walk past. I love my torrents!
people who buy pirate dvd’s = n00bs = bare lolz
I’ve made copies for people before, but never sold them. Except once, I guess the gangster thought he was obligated, I took that $3 and tossed it in a donation bucket since I’m not in it for profit, but to share media that most would have never considered experiencing.
Has anyone on rlslog payed full price for a piece media, such as movies, games or music, and come to find out it’s fake? I have, and I hope these punks get what they deserve.
these a$$holes gives most of us a bad name, glad they got busted.
yeah i would have to agree there are alot of people out there who don`t know what torrents or newsgroups and are simply happy to go down to the local market and get what they need .
Downloading is one thing, but making profit from it, is where the line goes, they deserve it. 12 mill a year, Highly doubtful they sell everything they burn, so im sure its alot less. But hey there’s alot of idiots out there so…
hahahah owned
if they was selling alvin and the chipmunks that would have been a TS and to charge people for what is basically a cam is just wrong.
My buddy is a Comcast installer one of his first days he had to hook up internet and cable for some middle aged lady.
He walked in and she had porn dvds stacked up on her kitchen table with a DVD burner and a bunch of blank disks!
so I guess guys aren’t the only 1d0175 out there :\
Just goes to show that the best way to pirate is with the help of the internet
I once bought a pirate dvd in greece – was very cheap but the end was missing
Anyone want a copy of “Cloverfield”? It’s filmed in a cinema but it’s a good copy. $10. Order ‘em now before they’re all gone!
lol @ 29
@20 yeah im sure u took that 3 dollars and went and found a donation bucket.
@23: My thoughts exactly. They diserve whatever they get.
@31
Matter of fact… I did.
They certainly got what they deserved. But you guys are making out like they are ripping off the scene. How do you know where the crims got their source material?
If it was organised criminals I would imagine they have had sources for years and probably don’t always rely on downloading from the net. After all, pirate videos werearound in the 80’s, where did they download stuff from in 1983?!
I remember many dodgy pirate videos of ET going around school in 1982. I think they were cam versions even back then. Imagine trying to smuggle a camcorder into a cinema back then! The things were the size of a small country.
If originals were sold at sensible prices the pirates would give up and go back to mugging old ladies.
lol @ St.Albans
I grew up there. It used to be a multi-cultural (European) neighbourhood but these days, it’s more of a Vietnamese ghetto.
Anyway, I know people whom pay $10 (Australian) for bootleg* copies of new releases (without case/insert/printing on disc), so I’d suggest the 4 million copies have a much higher real-world value.
*Some $10 bootlegs were CAMS and SCREENERS no less!
That is very good they got caught! I hate ppl who download scene rlses and make profit. FU(K compercial pirates!
Lol. I hate people who do this type of crap. Just get it on the net.
BTW, sorry for going off topic a little but the poll hasn’t changed in almost 2 weeks.
I dont think that photo is of the actual bust scene.. All the movies hanging up are fairly old… Underworld Evolution is like 2 years old isnt it.
I bet this was done by asians or wogs.. They’re the only races stupid enough to do something like this
I love these articles rlslog keep up the Fantastic Work
Mr.X Hasn’t posted in a while, maybe they found out where he lives =p
What it doesn’t tell you is that all of those DVDs are pirated episodes of Neighbours and Home And Away. Oh, and that Doctor Who episode with Kylie Minogue in it.
was it a decent copy of alvin & the chipmunks?
to quote Fonejacker…
“want to buy a dvd? 3 for a fiver!”
U WANT BUY DVD in my best chinese accent 100 percent
@ Snetter
You’d think that with Blu-ray on the horizon, the price of DVDs would drop. WRONG. Here in Australia, the average price of new-release DVDs has gone from $25 to $35 in the last couple of years.
Pretty sh!t, eh?
This filth deserves all they get. @39 i think they where zipperheads and nignogs actually.
I hate pirates. Except for me though. I’m a good pirate. These pirates were evil pirates. Good pirates rule.
any one got a good copy of enchantment, golden compass or rocky ill pay throught the nose for them
@39: yea caus no other race or ethnic group would ever or has ever done that. silly racist that you are
looks alot like my room.. did i get busted while i was out of town?
BURN THEM!!
Back in the day, the Bulgarians used to pirate CDs… but those were “true” silver discs, not recordables.
Pirates like the ones described in the article are the lowest form of life.
PWNT
ok guys hope this place doesnt turn into vcdquality!we all know stealing is a crime we are all doing it;) my young lad gets to see all latest films before most other kids, anyway my point being he tells his friends and they are jealous but hey their parents have differnt lives from us (and i certainly aint giving all the kids in the district free vds)ie they aint into computers like we are??so what do they do??they buy off looky looky men and nigels, soo what! get over it, supply and demand its human nature we are all to blame..oh and cheers martin for confirming that pic i knew i seen it before
atb with the site..incog
what a bunch of asshats. YOU DON’T SEll COPIES!
Also, Martin, would it kill you to act like the rest of the RLSLOG staff and actually post the links to your sources? You’ve honestly never been able to do that. WTF?
@39, yeah there so stupid they were millioniares
Selling warez are baaad.. I hope they’ll get a free tour to the chair with straps and a funny hat. These guys are worse than the movie industry. Can’t believe people buy that crap. I rather pay $25 for the original than $1 for a cheap copy.
cool burners
http://lifestyle.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=5276
@31, lets face it, its not like you have to search for a donation bucket anymore. Walk into almost any store and look on the counter, and there’s one or more there. Fund for someone’s funeral, cancer research, MS, local school, etc. If I gave $1 to each collection within 5 feet of me, I’d be bankrupt in under a year (okay… 1 week, but shhhh).
BUSTED!!!serves them right, these aholes gives Pirating a bad name…lol ehhh….but anyways really serves them right.
Making money is not what this is about, its about saving money,
and exploring the limits of your Bandwith and personal limits too.
movie ticket prices is going up in Australia as well, whata counter-effect to combat piracy -____-
@56, jeez, calm tf down! If you can find this website, I’m sure you are capable of googling: “australian police pirate dvd ring” and clicking any of the first five links which are all regarding this news item! They supply information/direction here, not wipe our asses for us! Thanks Martin.
Maybe we need a thread entitled “these are the post requirements you must meet or we’ll nag” that people can post on!
LoL, with that pc my backups would be a lot easier
I never really did understand the logic in bashing the sale of pirated DVDs but have no problem buying an ounce of haze from your local dealer. Everyone knows the majority of people dont share for the love of it, hence the reason public trackers suck and RS is on the rise. Nobody wants to seed back.
Theres still a big market for rips. Some people arent computer savvy,or just rather not risk it. I’m sure mechanics think the same thing about people who cant change their own oil so pay to have it done, or uber geeks that balk of the idea of someone paying to have their hard drive reformatted. It happens.
“The same addresses were raided in November last year”. That should tell you the operation isn’t too organized. You wouldn’t use a stash house that was already raided once within the past year. The amount of money is always exaggerated in the press. Happens with drugs too when they give the “estimated street value”. With the profits I’m sure they can hire a dream team, bond out, and be at it again serving the people that don’t know any better. Later to all you hypocritical hippie douche nozzles.
HATERS. IF YOU WAS MAKING THAT MUCH MONEY YOU ALL WOULDNT BE SAYING SUCH THINGS. IF I WAS SELLING THEM AND COULD HAVE A CLIENTELE LIKE THAT I WOULD BE HAPPY.
Hahahahaha!!!11!!!1One Pwned
There is a chick who sells dvd’s at my local for $5 – $10 & I always laugh at the fools who buy them. Long live torrents!
LOL @ Most of you!
What do you think this is all about? I don’t know wether any of you have noticed but we are not what you would call poor and the people releasing this stuff are no Robin Hood’s.
You can fool yourself into believing that the uploading/downloading of copyrighted material is some sort of anti commercialist revolutionary act but it’s not.
I download and watch movies because it costs about £40/$80 to go to the cinema where I live and I think thats unreasonable. I have no moral objection to downloading and watching in the comfort of my home where I can drink, smoke, not be sat next to idiots etc..
Could I afford it though? Yes and I could afford to buy all the classics too, £3.99 on dvd is hardly robbery for a piece of Kubricks genius.
At the end of the day, life is expensive and any chance I get to ease the burden of that expense (aside from all out armed robbery), I am going to take and I suspect the same is true of most of you hypocrites.
These people were trying to make a bit of money. Do you really begrudge tham that? I’ll bet 99% of you guys have considered selling films/software at some point. I know I have, what stopped me was the risk involved, not some moral obligation to the lords of filesharing lol.
At the top of this hierarchy (I meen the scene) there will be people making money. You know why? Because if there wasn’t profit in it somewhere no one would get involved. What about the advertisements on this site? I guess all the revenue goes back into hosting lmao.
Get over yourselves and accept that these “criminals”, just like you “revolutionaries”, were trying to keep their pockets full and make life a little bit easier.
p.s. That $12 million sum is a (vastly inflated) figure based on 100% turnover and not representative of any real revenue.
Still people buy dvd?
the pic was obviously just stuck into the article to reflect the story, not sure why everyones so picky, but damn even here in australia we have massive amounts of fake dvd’s being sold. i thought all that stuff came from china
But yeah anyone who makes money off theses scene releases pushes their luck. Sellin these movies is just asking to get caught.
@69
Prendergast_Fool…
Very well said…
@69
Prendergast_Fool…
Very well said… : )
there’s better ways to get rich… I recently bought a new site and it will be online on feb 1st, http://missnudemyspace.com we have already projected due to our requirements and such an est. gross of about $499,200 first year.
i dl movies for my own purposes.
Well said Prendergast_Fool. I totally agree. I download movies for the sake of saving money and fully enjoying the experience. If I really like the film, I’ll try to buy it on DVD to help the just cause. But other than that, good point.
lol @ 2 …. stupid aussie pirates… the ideas not to get caught
wow i live in melbourne :S
why didnt the guy just say the were backups or just for personal use or summat?
@66 I think most people don’t seed as much due to bandwidth ristrictions and fear of being caught by the mpaa/riaa etc. Otherwise people would be happy to share… I mean, why not?
$3 a dvd I was selling em for $4, bastards undercut me again ;P
Good, these f*****s ruin it for everyone.
Not to nitpick (I usually dont mind grammar) but its not:
These idiots misusing the scene for burning and selling the releases make me always sick, they deserve what they asked for.
Its:
These idiots misusing the scene for burning and selling the releases always make me sick, they deserve what they got.
Otherwise the meaning changes, and I hardly think they wanted to get caught:)
Their genitalia should be caressed by a blunt rusty axe.
“These idiots misusing the scene for burning and selling the releases make me always sick, they deserve what they asked for.”
What can I say but ditto. These pricks need to burn.
im a media student thats just finished writing an essay about dvd piracy, i tried to include all majour cases and now this happens the day after i handed it in. wank.
As they say in America… Don’t do the crime if you cann’t do the time…..
@69
Exactly what I was thinking as I read the comments along the way.
What hypocrisy …. oh those peeps were pwned!!!!!!
But yet we are all a bunch of thieves here as well.
But.. but…but…. they’re selling it for a profit. Get over yourselves what your not profiting by keeping that money in your pocket. They were profiting just on a larger scale.
If your gonna be a crook at least have some accountability for it.
And for the *I sold it once and tossed the 3 duckets into some donations buckets.. lmfao
WOW!!!! that was really righteous of ya… C’mon your a crook just like anybody else here.
What do you think that big guy upstairs is going to read RLSLOG comments and say oh well JimmyJoe guy did pirate that DVD once….lol
But he did in his OWN mind donate it to charity after words…
lmao yeah right you know you kept the money just admit it, otherwise you wouldn’t have been compelled to even sell it for some dollars.
If for some actual reason you did feel compelled to sell it for the benefit of charity. I say get that person a pair of green tights, a bow & arrow set, and legally change your name to Mr. Hood…
still lmao….. Did you claim the donation on your taxes cause if you did that still makes you a crook anyways……
These guys are going to hell.
THAT MESS UP..IF U CAN MAKE MONEY OFF THESE MOVIE WHY NOT DO IT(BETTER THAN SELLING DRUGS)…THEY SOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN CAUGHT..WHO THE HELL SNITCH
ROFL at Comments #78 #80 and #82
are you talk about honor amongst thieves yabbadabba,
comment #87
These guys are just stupid, but still they pale into insignificance when compared to the rogue trader who defrauded Societe Generale out of $7billion, thay guy must have had the biggest pair of nuts on the planet lol
I just realized something. The appendix STV stands for Straight to Video, right? Shouldn’t it be Straight to DVD…then it would be STD
:D Hahhah Sexually transmitted disease
LOL
callin me mates in wallagarung stupid? flamin wallabies.
@91
what????
oh yeah we are all so honorable here.
Heck we got a modern day robin hood… downloading for the poor!!!!
Some revolutionaries…. doing it to break the biz!!!
and some that say I just download them for my kids that’s not stealing is it…
You need to read my post again cause it was more about hypocrisy than anything else…
reminds me of a place i used to work
While in Romania back in 2003 saw pirates selling games and movies, porn etc. everywhere. When I went back in 2005, I thought I’d join in the fun for some extra cash having pirated a gazillion things, and carrying them with me on the plane:) Unfortunately the dastardly Romanians had moved on, the price of broadband was getting lower and more and more people were getting very savvy bout warez, meaning that there were few takers for the stuff. Just sold a few games to some peasants for a few bucks
) Sigh, jumped on the wagon too late!
Seems it would have been better to stay and flog these things off to the more ‘advanced’ Australians instead!:))
Yes it suck when people like that do work against the sharing
community by selling stuff making them as bad as the money
industry and give us all who share more problem.
They deserve what they got but its okay for hundreds of thousands of ppl to down load them illegally? Your the pot calling the kettle black buddy.
@89 – you know that’s very true… It’s certainly is better than selling drugs – funny thing is tho, you generally find just as many, if not more people selling drugs than pirate DVD’s…
With what an internet connection costs down here in Oz its almost cheaper to buy a $3 bootleg than to download a movie.
the image u have posted is a fake and it’s not related with the news
file date and time : 2006:04:07 10:41:26
hey u all have heard of maVen??did u all love maVens releases???
According to the police, Geremi Adam had been selling copies of movies on the internet using the alias ‘maVen’ (asking between $300 and $1,000 each), go figure idiots;) we get them just after chinese/new york silver makers
http://www.p2pnet.net/story/14235
if people wanna download and sell, fair play to em, like any illegal activity, don’t cross the line, and you’ll be fine, the second you get greedy and reckless, you’re f**ked.
I don’t begrudge people who download for profit, hell sometimes it’s easier to just buy a disk then fuss about getting it yourself, perhaps you dunno how, perhaps u don’t have a PC.
the way I see it, as long as noone gets hurt, and you’re not funding terrorism or pushing heroin, i could care less.
but to get caught, oh well… I mean you guys can get on your high horses and shut them down for doing it if you want, but as I say, as long as they don’t cross the line, there no different to you or me.
wow! i want at least two of those PCs!
@69
Prendergast_Fool…
really good point. Don’t expect this lot to get it though
@89 jamaican lover,
also good point -better than smuggling drugs too. In fact, I might try this myself
sorry that was a silly comment about chinese/new york silver makers..as i said before hope this place doesnt end up like vcdquality
Did anybody stop to think that some people just don’t download to keep from spending the money, but instead do it in contempt for industry?
Well, I don’t burn for friends anymore, but I still d/l since the industry had the nerve of asking me for my opinion. So as far as I care, the industry gets what they deserve, empty pockets.
@ Martin
if there is a line between stealing for your own entertainment, and stealing for profit then it is a pretty thin one.
if this kind of thing “makes you sick” you must feel pretty bad about yourself.
ALL OF YOU IS A BUNCH OF LOSERS & HYPOCRITES !!!!
WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU’RE BETTER THAN THOSE GUYS?
They’re just as bad as all of you people, the difference is they’re smarter.
You can throw stones at a thieves if you never steal. But the reason all of you here (including me) is we are all thieves.
Put aside all the reasoning, such as we can’t afford buying originals (well for argument sake you could rent for $2, this you cant afford??? it’s not that we can’t afford, but we all like free stuff don’t we?), we are actually doing more damages to the movie industry than those guys.
Let me fix your loose screw in your brains.
1. Damage to the movie industry
How many dvds do they sell a year? How many movies do we ALL downloads every year? Im sure our figure will make them look like a grain of sand on the beach. Regardless whether they’re making money and we’re not, WE are still doing MORE damage to the industry.
2. Making money or personal use?
Let me ask you a simple question. There are 2 thieves, one thief who steals TVs and using it for personal use, and another thief steals TVs to be sold again to make some money. Is the first thief better than the second thief? I don’t know, but I know for sure that the second thief is smarter.
SO ALL OF YOU WHO POSTED ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENT YOU’RE ACTUALLY A WORSE PERSON THAN THEM. WHY? DO YOU SEE THEM COMPLAINING AT YOU GUYS BECAUSE YOU DOWNLOAD MOVIES? SO WHY ARE WE COMPLAINING ABOUT THEM?
Im so dissapointed with all of you guys.
I thought you were better person than this.
Don’t they have internet downunder or are people still actually buying pirate dvd’s like they were living in a poor country?
I can understand why they do it in africa and so, but Australia?
As a matter of fact ‘hey’ (@ post 111), Australian broadband is quite a poor service at the moment. Quite expensive for very little bandwith. Many people still purchase DVDs, as broadband/cable connections are not as accesible/affordable as other countries. This is something the newly installed Government has promised will be a thing of the past, it will happen, just depends on when. Australia is a long way behind the world when it comes to affordable high-speed Internet. This isn’t because, as you may think, we are sinking as low as a ‘third world country’ but more so a combination of specific businesses monoploizing the industry and inadequate Government assistance.
@110
Just because one person’s ethical opinion varies from your own, doesn’t necessarily mean they’re hypocrites. I know I have my reasons for d/l and that’s all that matters.
FAIL.
Good thing they got busted, my motto “give for free what you take for free”
p.s. the above ‘figure of speech’ sounds better in my native Language, Dutch. It should say “Wat je gratis krijgt moet je gratis geven”
that sucks.
I hope the cops kicked them really good in their faking smart ass…Selling them and making profits is a big crime..I download movies but I never sell them for profits…As micheal moore said sharing them with friends is not a big deal but selling something that you didn’t make/produce is a crime…I hope they fuc this kind badly so that he can’t walk again..
“These idiots misusing the scene for burning and selling the releases make me always sick, they deserve what they asked for.”
Now to me atleast piracy is just as much of a crime wheter you make profit of it or not so can’t really feel bad for the “scene”.
kinda feel sorry for them, they had nothing other to do then sell free stuff to gullible people,…they should visit their local college and get a degree…in computer engineering…at least then, they could be useful to society…same for gangs that import drugs…with all of their tactics, they could get a real job helping society…not assisting people’s habits…
Thanks for that MNB *A.K.A. Oprah!*
I love how you threw in the “Stupid” bit in the title RLSLOG, nice touch…
Okay so from a pure moral standpoint these people are a bit worse than the scene but really how do you justify what the scene does, which is basically taking what someone else put money and effort into with the purpose of selling and then distrubate for free (yes studios wanna make money this is how capitalism works and theres nothing bad in it).
I personally download night and day but my concience can actually live with that and I really wish more could rather than making file sharing into an ideology trying to justify their actions left and right.
I read that vista sp1 was do out in the 3rd quarter of of ‘08 and sp3 a couple months after that, so if the timeline has been moved up, I will be really happy to get sp3 sooner than later, and vista and its lameass wannabe service pack can go to hell where it belongs.
I am looking forward to win 7, hopefully it will be better then xp. I don’t want to be stuck with a outdated OS for the next 14 years.
lol all i can say is thank F*** i live on the other side of melb.
damn I clicked the wrong link lmao.
Although I agree we’re all pirates and thieves here and therefore there’s no honor amongst us, I think the point that crap like this is bad for all of us is still valid.
I don’t think me and my 5 movies a week is somehow better or worse than the millions of discs these guys crank off and sell in the streets, the difference, is in the ammo this gives to the entertainment industry.
It’s a lot harder for the American government to pressure the other powers of the world to crackdown on pirates when the face of that piracy is a bunch of greasy guys in a garage with piles of scary computer equipment and not the greasy teenager in the prime ministers finished basement.
Maybe it’s not the fact that they were making money that we should be mad about it’s the sloppy operation and the bad press making things harder for the rest of that should be the focus of the anger.
happy sailing.
can a admin or something delete my 2 posts in here and copy/paste it to the vista sp1 thread please
.
Busted! China has more of these burners
Well there can be honor among thieves but still pirating only serves or own egoistic intrests, theres no doubt about that.
Good thing they got busted imo… its annoying seeing all those pirated cds/dvds being sold.
But as for the “harm” we do to movie companies is not that big.
I do download many movies but i still go to the cinema and watch lots of movies. I Wouldnt download a movie if its not good quality and i prefer the big screen. I will also buy dvd movies i like and i have quite a collection of them. Would i ever go to the cinema or buy all the dvds of the movies i download? I guess not. I download most movies beacause i can and not because i want to steal from the companies. Most of them i dont even get to watch them anw.
The scene is against these guys.Guys who make solid cash by ripping scene stolen material hey it’s nicked in the first place so what right do any of us have to condem these guys.Thats life making money crimanaly or straght whatever its all the same thing and prison these days aint all that bad so the risk is defo worth it.People buy cams on the street for as much as £4 a go the profit is big yea sure we all know its free but some of the cattle don’t.13p a disc wi some ink is that not over 300% profit christ coke dealers take more risk.I don’t personaly condem any criminal as i am a criminal in other ways myself. Also to the scene Feck you all stick your scene rules up your sisters a$$es you rip we rip stick your hipocratic rules where the sun don’t shine.
To all those who believe that this is perfectly fine to do: go ahead and do it. The rest of us will be laughing when your in court, facing serious copyright and fraud allegations.
Also those duplicators shown in the picture can be bought from most online traders and dvdr shops what the hell are they selling them for in the first place surely we all know that there built and sold legally for making multi clones from these guys.Any1 got any numbers on how many dvdrs were sold worldwide in 2007 coz i bet 90% of them sold were not for recording the news.We all want money some people destroy countrys others rip and sell the latest porno or scene rls whos the criminal???
one more thing im into sharing but one of the other comments said about the money industry that 90% of all of us work in you can bet i might share a rip or 10 but when its comes to my hard earned that goes to my family Feck yours mine comes first.Nice thought about the money industry tho.I couldn’t live without the money industry id have to pay my broadband connection with high grade grass since its a naturally grown product.
is it any better than what you disgusting yank pigs do? least we dont get sued day in day out. we dont sodamise and rape our cousins. we dont go to war for stupid reasons.
heres a thought too STOP ADVERTISING THE SCENE ON THIS SCUM WEBSITE ! WAKE UP PLEASE. no wonder the scene hats people like you. RLSLOG = DIE .
The reason these people were caught was in fact that they’d made over 3 million bootleg copies of Are we Done Yet, starring Ice Cube. Though the technology and organization was up to par, the individual in charge of market analysis was seriously impaired.
@67 completely agree with you
and!
if prices at australia are really 35 bucks a dvd. THen lol! yeah they are making 12 million a year because demand would be super high, releases would be way faster, and far cheaper….
just wish i had my own thing going lol
noooot…any one who advertises crime gets caught…that is why you don’t go big, these poor feelas fu(ked up
“They deserve what they get”
Sounds like someone’s jealous because they didn’t think of it first, lol.
message to WMD @134 go fu(k yourself, don’t come to a website you don’t like…..you see me at laker games no, cause im a fu(king kings fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

heres a thought too STOP ADVERTISING THE SCENE ON THIS SCUM WEBSITE ! WAKE UP PLEASE. no wonder the scene hats people like you. RLSLOG = DIE .
@134
“The Scene” can go fu*k itself for all I care. It’s a stupid monikor adopted by a bunch of girlfriendless geeks to make them feel less like criminals and more like.. well some kind of new age Che Guevara stickin’ it to the man activists.
The scene is a clique within a clique within a clique, a bunch of jumped up, self obsessed, pimply teens, desperate for the merest feeling of self importance. They may get spat on at school, laughed at by the opposite sex, they may be socially awkward, unable to hold down well paid jobs due to a lack of people skills, they may be physically disadvataged, sickly, weak, perhaps hideously ugly? Whatever, their skilled computer users and they use their skills and their connections to do the only thing that gives them a place in life.
The fact that the scene is exclusive goes against the very fundementals of what you “champions of freedom” profess the scene is all about.
Answer this, why was AXXO hated by “THE SCENE!!!”?
lol @ Malveus
They were probably caught trying to bury copies in a landfill, much like ATARI’s E.T. pit.
ROTFL
I guess you could say they got “Burned”
Its funny to see this posted on here. In one of our newspapers here “The Herald Sun” they run one of these types of stories at least 2-3 times a week! It seems that the AFACT group is shutting down 10,20,30, up to 100 million dollar a year “street value” pirated DVD operations that are “linked to a crime ring” each week. And yet I still see people at the local markets, outdoor swap meets and private sales doing quite well.
AFACT is nothing more then the Aussie branch of the MPAA, complete with false facts, bad images and news stories that are intended to scare people into not buying, downloading or looking at pirated films.
But like it was said before, DVD prices are rising higher here, Movie ticket prices are rising higher here. So its no wonder the pirated film “ring” here is a big market.
But hey, people who get busted are idiots. It’s the little fish that will always swim free of the net.
totally agree with ya toms_thumb,an worst part bout them is they are always conning, an conniving ppl,at DVD factories an video shops to get them movies, telling them what they want to hear ,makethem feel important and they are “contributing to the greater good” by “sticking it to the man”,long live P2P…
Of course this is IF all those burners were run 24/7, though I am not sure I think for the price of that set up you could pick up a good used automated duplication system, instead of having to manually load/unload ALL those burners
THIS is where they should be focusing their efforts anyways
You gotta love the holier than thou attitude everyone seems to share. I say if these cats want to make a few bucks selling movies to others who don’t have the technical know-how or means to download them, so be it. It really has little effect on the scene or even p2p at this point. If all the commercial bootleggers suddenly up and quit, do you really believe the MPAA would say, “Mission: success. Now we can just leave file sharers alone.” Anybody who says these guys got what they deserve are potential snitches in my book.
Here in Mexico theres markets that sells copy like that everywhere, and police walk by and do nothing
most people here cant afford computers and internet, they hardly got enough money for food and rents, so its a good thing for poor countries.
agree with #69
yep yep….
haha thats funny. idiots.
Is venturislife (Nr. 100) an MPAA/RIAA employee? He has no idea what he’s talking about. The movie industry is not ‘losing’ money at all unless you mean the fact that they posted less profit last year compared to the year before. Oh no what a loss!!!!!! Now I’m going to have a nervous breakdown because a few billionaires made a few billion less last year.
Anyway we know who runs Australia: MPAA/RIAA and the FBI and who said Australia wasn’t an extention of the US? I would like to congratulate Australia on a job well done, whine your constitution is invalid because it was imposed on you by a foreign power and therefor don’t have to pay your parking fines. Please solve this problem by renaming your country United States of Australia, no more confusion which is good for all.
Now all these guys have to do is claim the constitution is invalid and therefor can’t go to prison due to false and wrong laws. LOL @ Australia.
Does the ‘invalid constitution’ argument also work for rapists and murderers?
let me get this right… a website full of illegal torrents for peeps to download and someone gets caught selling and you call them dumb? Martin look at what this site promotes, there is no fine line, you break the law as much as the next guy, you may not profit but you break the law simple. Comments like you made are the ones that look DUMB !
Piracy is Piracy and we all take a risk no matter how small or large our operation may be.
One question to all of you..
Ever been to Bali?
gents: gotta love the attitude on this thread, and it’s time we all admit to being thieving scumbags too.
sure, the industry puts out crap and we should really get a refund after having to watch/play/listen to some of the crap they sell so well.
sure, we should all get better demos and more realistic trailers that don’t promise but never deliver.
sure, they can cut down the packaging and save me some space and the environment too.
sure, the real artists would still play/write/produce even if the suits didn’t pay them in drugs/cash/ego/fame.
sure, film and music is overpriced (just look at where the profits go) so they only have themselves to blame.
and sure, it’s not the best use of a good brain to go copy someone else’s hard work and sell it for your own gain. so yep, those dupers are stupid.
but they are thieves just the same as you lot. and me. this site is a dupe centre – it’s not a private scene hub sharing a few newly cracked games. it’s a public, ad-funded website that links to copied content. just because there’s no rlslog carpet on a city street, covered in cut-price dvds, doesn’t mean that this is a charity.
so, stupid they may be. hypocritical you are (and you know who you are). love this site though. love the releases. and guess what. if they started charging $5 bucks for a movie, or $3 for an album, I’d start paying.
in fact, sometimes it’s more convenient to pick up one of those discs and stick it in the old-skool dvd player while my laptop is busy downloading even more crap.
Given it’s the western suburbs, I’m suprised it’s not drugs. But these services are not uncommon, and I hate to generalize, but they are usually in found in melbourne’s poorer suburbs and suburbs with higher levels of immigrants.
Firstly the people involved were very likely AUSTALIAN RESIDENTS< giving the fact was are one of the most multicultural countries in the world.
Obviously they thought they would find save haven here for their operations
And true, how come if they are making 12 million a year, they have not relocated to some inaccessable location in a corporate high rise or simuliar.
12 million a year people, think about that !.
Obviously they were not making 12 million a year. Cop’s just LOVE to boast about big numbers, they do the same rubbish with all statistics…. crime reduction, drugs bust e.t.c
I like that you say that making profit from the scene is bad – yet you support a site which makes 5.000$ a month? … On advertising.
haha
there are many peeps in Sydney that do this and go around warehouse areas to flog em off. the idjuts at my old werk used to buy the flix for AUD$10 a pop!!! I must add that these ones did have a cover and picture disc (presented in a plastic bag, Thai style). This blokes “story” was that he is a pilot (pfft, yeah, thats why he drives a piece of crap and dresses in the stuff I threw out 5 years ago) and every time he goes to the states his ‘hook-ups’ in the film industry would give him advance dvd copies of films!! a bigger piece of b/s I yet to be told. I even told him to his face what he was doing was a joke, he said ‘what would you know’, I replied “I know I got all the movies your selling a long time ago, and for nix”
oh well, he looked like a lonely man
I felt real down when I read that like they in jail like I know em. Then I notice this happend in Australia. Saying will this bust hurt U.S on bootlegers with stronger penalties.
Who knows but looking at those pictures I think its making it here to us I just bought that. Its still bogus and rlslog holds links to the same pirated films sorry to say.
We are true bootlegers in heart anybody can break out and sell some disc. Why cause we are smart enough to be on rlslog is good search tactics to all. They not stoping me Im gone get it but sorry boys.
Remember they did bust em in a raid in the house so I still feel crazy damn guys.
Do anybody feel like they shouldnt be doin this same stuff cause of an Australian bust U.S.A baby im back to it and gone.
I’m a bit split in two over this.
1. They are tools who are making a profit from the scene.
2. But what is the difference in buying a burnt DVD from guys like this and downloading a DVD from P2P.
Apart from the fact somebody is making a profit its the same thing you are still getting hold of a product that is not intended for the market at that time or for that price and the producer/owner isn’t making a cent.
Don’t get me wrong however.. I am a massive fan of the scene and what it brings to us all.
Just cause they were australian residents does not mean they are real stubby drinking kangaroo riding aussies, just means they fell off the last boat that immigration didn’t catch
Sunshine? Yep, that’s all Vietnamese.
I seriously hate pirates who sell crap quality products. I only download if a movie has not been released, or is banned. If it’s available for rent, or it’s out in cinemas, I’d rather pay to see it – unless it’s something like NORBIT.
And only DVDRips. CAMS suck hard.
I know a lot of people who sell bad quality DVD, and I know a lot who buy them. They must be blind because they don’t see a diff between a CAM and a Real DVD.
What brand/make and modell of PC-case are those drives housed in on the picture?
Toms_Thumb Axx0 is hated by the scene cause he just steals releases and reincodes them to 1cd and ruins the movie.takes credit turns gold into crap
and “!” you can f(uk yourself and your country you yankie morbidly obese sack of feces.i hear bout school shootings day in and day out in America and i laugh my butt off until i pee a little cause your country deserves it
you think this problem isn’t worse in your country? rednecks in your country do this day in day out and get caught every single time.
i laugh even more at the hypocrites that are rlslog that advertise releases so much and just over feed on situations like this like suckling pigs.your not only hated by the scene your hated by private trackers.
you download movies your already doing something wrong who gives a crap if someone sells it.
@85 fourth,
“im a media student thats just finished writing an essay about dvd piracy, i tried to include all majour cases and now this happens the day after i handed it in. wank.”
If your essay is anything like your message above, you’re going to flunk.
As to commercial piracy: I’m in the US and I have a friend who used to buy pirated DVDs on an almost weekly basis. He would go to a flea market every Sunday and there would always be 2-3 sellers with boxes of bootleg DVDs. Each was in a slim-line case with a badly printed insert, some discs had artwork, some didn’t. Most were crappy cam copies. Back in 2005, he paid $13 for a bootleg of the movie Serenity. Besides the obvious lack of quality associated with cams, there was the back of someone’s head sticking up about 1/3 of the way up the screen and the idiot who filmed it couldn’t keep his hand off the focus control. Every 30-45 seconds, the image would go out of focus, then back in, back out, back in, etc. Besides the flea market, bootlegs were also available behind the counter in a little asian convenience store and there was a guy who used to come into local area bars selling them. To be fair, he did buy the official Serenity DVD when it came out, as did I.
My friend stopped buying them mostly because he ran into unrelated money troubles. For the last year, I’ve been downloading various movies and making him copies. Making playable DVDs takes too long, so I usually just record them to video tape. He’s completely clueless about computers, so he couldn’t download his own movies even if he wanted to. Not only does he not know anything about computers, he has no desire to learn. He just wants new movies to watch and can’t afford to buy them anymore.
The photo is definately old, seen it in another article
“Just cause they were australian residents does not mean they are real stubby drinking kangaroo riding aussies, just means they fell off the last boat that immigration didn’t catch”
My previous post was deleted for acknowledging that. Bloody Viets, no doubt.
Yay!!!
Maybe now that those dirty punks are gone, I can step up my own local operation, and get my own dvd burners.
Ofcourse, I’ll stick with 50 or less. Im greedy, not stupid
If only people asked themselves, where do they get these DVD copys from so early??? They would figure out all they are doing is making money from something which is the scenes work and free.
These idiots should stop selling.
@ 164 Rekrul you are 1 idiot ive never laughed as much in years and i quote”Making playable DVDs takes too long, so I usually just record them to video tape.” hehehe what an idiotic thing to say rotflmfao you obviously havent a clue lmfao ohh and 1 thing i dare say theres a screener of the new rambo film about you will prolly find it getting sold at flea markets car boot sales and maybe pukka or someone affil to pukka will purchase it this week some time off some scum bag seller and it will get pre’d on some top site and eventually filter down to p2p gooo figure
incong your a joke go home.
@ww2 i am home funnily enough and your point??
Hi Guys,
I dont mind if you all want to download a copy of Windows Vista for free as my lawyers want to butt rape you for doing so.
Thanks
Bill
@ ww2 Don’t be rude (permban) lol think calling me a joke was a tadd rude ww2(me upset)
btw whats ww2 stand for??ohh i know wanker twice lol
They are stand alone duplicators, you put the master in the top and then the blanks in the bottom.
Anyone can bye them.
Happy pirating
Martin, rlslog makes money from the scene.
Your comment about these ‘pirates’ is hypocritical.
With an Alexa rank that hovers around 2000 rlslog is making good money from scene releases. And that ad money is mostly coming from scumbag companies, at least these guys got their cash from providing people with a product for a reasonable price.
@163
Axxo was hated because he took new scene releases and made them available to EVERYONE. They did not just get passed around private ftp servers so a group of sad teens (the scene) could earn brownie points with each other.
Also, I am not from America lol.
aXXo isn’t hated in the scene, he’s barely even known. Most scene groups don’t care if a p2p group (or individual) reencodes their stuff. It makes no difference. It’s not like aXXo leaks their releases, or compromises security in any way.
Was Captain Morgan a pirate? ARRRRGH. He’s tasty. pour another.
I d/l movies. But I don’t go the the theater. I don’t buy dvds. I don’t sell dvds.
So who am I stealing from? They wouldn’t have made ANY money off me anyways. (by going to a theater or the video store)
It’s the same as waiting for the movie to run on HBO (which I DO pay for, so I actually AM paying for the movie, right?)
>2 pennys<
why ppl are so freakin dumb ….
I agree with you, Martin. They should not have been selling them like that.
@169 incog,
A 90 minute movie takes 90 minutes to record to video tape. Converting the AVI to DVD format takes at least 2 hours for me, more if I want the best quality and set the software on 2-pass with all the optimizing options turned on. That’s using one of those 1-click conversion programs, most of which, the authors were too stupid to include an option to fit the output in a 4.5GB blank. So then I need an extra step to compress the 7-9GB output to 4.5, which adds at least another 40 minutes to the conversion process. And that’s if the program doesn’t choke on the AVI file, which seems to happen about 50% of the time.
Or I could use a bunch of different programs to do the conversion the way the “experts” do it; One program to convert from AVI to Mpeg2, another program to convert and mux the audio, another program to turn the Mpeg2 files into a Video_TS folder, etc. Of course that wouldn’t be any faster either.
However, I’m sure I’m missing the obvious. Please enlighten me as to what program will convert every AVI without fail and will output a Video_TS folder ready to burn to disc in less time than it takes to watch the movie on a 1.8Ghz system?
@ the Author
Why do they make you sick? All the torrentsites earn money by every click with pirate movies/software. I don’t see the difference. Please tell me
@97
Dude, East-Europeans are ALWAYS finding ways… it’s part of their culture to circumvent laws and regulations. Why do you thing there are so many Russian hackers?
When you grow up under Communism, you learn to bypass certain things, reverse engineer stuff, repair anything and, most importantly, hide well!
oh, and don’t mind “110 – venturislife”…
It’s kind of hard to take seriously anything posted after a phrase like “All of you IS a bunch of losers…” All your base are belong to us, anyone?
@181
“Please enlighten me as to what program will convert every AVI without fail and will output a Video_TS folder ready to burn to disc in less time than it takes to watch the movie on a 1.8Ghz system?”
Ever heard of VSO ConvertXtoDVD?
@ rekrul 35 minutes start to finish using convertx2dvd plus you dont loose anything like you are doing ie going from digital to analogue lmao..plus you try copying that tape after! it takes 6 mins or so to make another copy of a dvd lol i honestly cant believe your post lol plus hooking your vhs player up to pc plus the fact how much does a blank tape cost??plus a dvd is smaller lol, plus if you get a proffesionally master multy you can have up to 3 films on 1 dvd with dolby 5.1 still intact and awesome picture quality sure it takes long to actually do that but you can get 1 off a scum bag seller for about price of 2 blank vhs tapes lol
With 12 million dollars they could hire a great defense team.
lol, sunshine and st albans is a very very scummy area, it’s no surprise. i’m just surprised they have not found many drug distributors there..
But you are right, they deserve to get jailed for selling that much.
Martin is such a hypocrite. I wonder how much money he is making off the scene by running this website.
I am a little vague here. These guys are making it available, if not for free, but at dirt cheap price, the movies on the streets! On the other hand some guys are also making it available on the net free but also paying regular net access free both givers and takers! So what is the difference in all of us?
Is anyone surprised by these Australian sheep-shaggers. The only other place that is more incompetent is England with the northern monkeys and Yorkshire sheep-shaggers.
these aren’t pirates just lame leechers who should be sodomized by Media Defender and all anti-p2p alike…….i’m always a good pirate…”Share and Care”…..TPB rocks…..:P
@191 Yorkshire sheep shaggers.. Where did that come from? I take it your not from the UK. The Welsh are the traditional British sheep shaggers.
Actually, your name looks a little Welsh :0
Great:)
stupid to earn your money whit not legal software.
once again i guess go f(ck yourselves you yank pigs.
if you think america doesnt have bootleggers too you should pull yourself away from myspace you cake eating goth’s and step into some sunlight.
that is if you dont get killed going to school cause your brash arrogant smug ways get yourselves shot up every day.
and the creator of rlslog your site is more disgusting than any bootlegger. go back to limewire f(ckin homo
@186 incog,
I did screw up and forget to mention one thing in my last message; I’m still using Windows 98SE. ConvertXtoDVD only works on 2K/XP. Yes, I know that my system is now considered as outdated as stone tablets and quill pens, but it’s what I have. I also probably should have said that converting from AVI to DVD takes too long “for me”. That’s what I thought I wrote, but looking at my first message, I see that I didn’t. I’ve tried every 98 compatible program I could find and either they take forever, choke on a lot of files, or create 7-9GB files that need to be re-compressed (because DL blanks are still too expensive).
As for videotaping stuff; All I had to do to record the computer’s output was to use the S-Video to Composite cable that came with my video card. My friend supplies the tapes since I’m taping stuff for him, so it doesn’t cost me anything. Sure, the quality isn’t very good, but he’s getting free movies, so he really can’t complain. Then again he prefers fullscreen to widescreen, hates subtitled films and has happily watched screeners with huge copyright messages plastered right across the center of the screen, so it’s not like his tastes are all that refined.
Frankly, I’d prefer it if he’d just learn to use a computer (he has a reasonably recent one that he recently inherited) then I could just burn the files to a blank, no coversion necessary. I’ve also tried to get him to get a player that supports Divx, but he’s having trouble paying his bills and doesn’t want to spend the money on one.
pirate realeses available in my local video store for rental $1 each.Always updated with new realeses, always in fine quality, with subs.If i like a movie i just copy it in 20 mins.I dont bother anymore waiting to download or buy them .I will never buy original products.NEVER EVER.
Hmm… i live in Melbourne, this wasn’t even on the news lol. Oh well, sucks to be them. Silly silly.
12 million just to get passed around in prison. guess the risk was worth the reward :0

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Internet in Australia costs approx $2AU/GB, in metro areas… it would be almost worth it to buy bootleg dvds at the markets if they were $3 a disc.
Personally I download because I couldn’t be bothered going to the local video store (approx 10Km away)… I assume many others are similarly downloading out of laziness.
I read about this the other day in the Herald Sun, and lmao. St. Albans says it all.
Just because you know how to dl movies from the net doesn’t mean everyone knows how; there was a time you didn’t know how to dl movies either…. and not everyone is fortunate enough to own a PC or have an internet connection.
I don’t distribute my dl’s for sale – rather, I give them to other family members so they too can enjoy (like I do) the movies kindly made available by those who make these movies available to us. To those people, I say thanks!!!
