Study: girls have same math knowledge as boys
A U.S. study found that girls have closed the gender gap in math performance.Researchers from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and University of California, Berkeley, studied SAT results and math scores from 7 million students and found that girls are just as good at math as boys. “There just aren’t gender differences anymore in math performance,” study leader Janet Hyde, a psychology professor at UW-Madison, said in a statement. “So parents and teachers need to revise their thoughts about this.” The findings are published in the journal Science.
Hyde said cultural beliefs that women aren’t as good as men at math can have an impact on classroom performance. “Because if your mom or your teacher thinks you can’t do math, that can have a big impact on your math self concept.” She said there is no difference in innate ability that can explain why women are so under-represented in math and science careers. Currently, women make up only 15 percent of doctoral candidates in engineering programs, for example. Although girls take just as many advanced high school math courses today as boys and women earn nearly half of all undergraduate degrees in math, Hyde said many parents and teachers still believe girls struggle in math.

I think this is false, to be perfectly blatant. What you must consider is that - statistically - high school boys are far less likely to actually put their full effort into subjects, whereas girls feel the need to study more. I think you’ll find that, in truly voluntary tests where subjects were trying their hardest, boys would own girls at math.

Men aren’t dumb. Its just that resources have been redirected to young girls. Society as a whole is very misandric these days. There has been a gap with reading showing girls ahead of boys but no effort has been put in to help boys. Its reverse sexism and its sad.
Men develop spacial understanding faster, so they are really only better at geometry. Women develop emotionally and socially faster. But by the time High School comes around it has evened out. My calculus teacher in High School was a woman and she pwned math. Just because someone is male or female doesn’t matter because not everyone has the aptitude for advanced mathmatics. There are plenty of dudes AND chicks who can barely balance their checkbooks.

With any exam, you get the results the exam was designed to give. Want males to score better than females? Easy. Females better than males? Easy. Whites better than blacks? Easy. And so on. Everyone scores the same? Easy.
You see there is amost never such a thing as a fair exam. Exams are designed for the purposes of giving a specific result, because that is how our society always works- raising some on an arbitary basis, and lowering others. The people at the top ALWAYS call themselves ’smarter’.
For example, when priests ruled a nation, the priests were the ’smart’ people.
Now the real problem kicks in when a real and important subject, like maths or the sciences, are ‘dumbed down’ to appear to show a politically correct ‘truth’. Force an equal number of women into subjects like programming or engineering, by fixing exams, and the end result is that nation will fall behind others at a very rapid rate.
When this happens in a nation like the USA, then foreigners have to be brought in to do the skilled jobs, or the skilled jobs have to be farmed out to ’smarter’ places.
Forget exams, and look at the true experts in any field of Human endeavor. If any category are massively under-represented without obvious explanation, then that category are significantly less naturally skilled in that area.
Take the olympics. Believe me, there are events, like shooting, where no argument can be put forward for women not competing with the men EXCEPT that women are so naturally rubbish, even given theoretical identical body skills required by the discipline, that no woman could ever qualify in a fair fight.
Men and women are different in incredible numbers of ways, including mental processes. Now this is a statistical fact, not one that applies to any given individual man or women. I would say that the average female is probably better in most ways (except raw physical strength) than the average male, but that the best males are so far ahead of the best females, it isn’t even funny.
But then, females are hard wired, and chemically dosed each day thru their hormonal system, to think about finding a mate, having babies, and protecting their family. Maybe a car would like to fly, but no matter what it dreams, it is still designed for driving down the road.

You’re quite spectacularly wrong about this, in fact so much so that it’s nearly the opposite of what you’ve just claimed. The tradition of female snipers is almost as long as that of snipers in general. During WW2 when women were a oddity in the army several hundreds of female snipers were fielded, including some of the most successful in all of history.
Now there’s credible arguments to be made that this study as well as the current educational system isn’t balance equally to all students, but this thread hasn’t seen many of them being put forth. And it won’t.

With the same amount of work / training and similar basic intelligence, men will always score higher in natural sciences than women, while women will score higher in social sciences and arts.
There is no question that this relation can be distorted by a change in training - if you provide additional education to one of the groups in an area they usually archieve sub-standard results in, the gap between the two groups will diminish.
My sister and I both took identical IQ tests when we were at the age of 12, and we both archieved exactly the same number of points. The distribution however was quite different, with me scoring way higher in maths and matrices, and my sister scoring way higher in the language parts.
In our second tests, aged 16, the results were different. We had the same scores again (I had one point more, which can be attributed to chance), but this time we scored almost the same number of points in each part of the test. The reason for this development was that my sister, struggling with math, had invested a lof of time practicing her math and logic skills, while I had wasted a lot of time writing and reading (as of this day (aged 21) > 3.000 books since my 12th birthday and counting).

America is a cesspool of hypocrisy in this day and age. It has a lot to do with the PC movement and overcompensating for slights because of lingering perceptions. There is an uneven allocation of resources and it definitely is reverse sexism. At the same time, there are many examples of reverse racism. All this is done because there is still the perception that the White man has a disproportionate amount of power in American society. This may be true, but they are punishing the wrong people. The fact is that a superrich class exists in America and it is a very small group, mainly comprised of rich white men. They are able to exert incredible influence and bypass many tax laws to continue to multiply their already ridiculous fortunes because of the way that capitalistic societies work. Instead of going after this small subsegment of society, a larger group is neglected by society as if they somehow benefit from being in the same demographic as the power elite. Of course this stratum of society couldn’t be happier that they are freed from scrutiny to be able to continue on their merry way.
The results of the study can be interpreted as consistent with what Larry Summer said: That girls and boys have the same average achievement, but boys have higher variance, leading to an over-abundance of males at the higher (and lower) ends of the achievement spectrum.
It seems that only the wall street journal reported on the “boys higher variance” part of the study with this headline: “Boys’ Math Scores Hit Highs and Lows”
