Stronghold 2 is really nice Real-Time Strategy game by London based Firefly studios. I personally really like enjoyed this game when i was playing it non stop back in 2005 when it was released. Two years on the new patches keep coming. The newest v1.4 is mostly to address the few remaining bugs and exploit the game suffers from. If you still play this great game or are planning on getting yourself a discount copy then grab this as well to make sure your all up-to-date and bug free.

Changelog:

  • Various multiplayer gameplay optimizations
  • Real-Time Shadows, Bloom, Anisotropic Filtering and Anti-aliasing implemented.
  • Map transfer in multiplayer lobby implemented.
  • Fire ballistae no longer auto fire, and targets must be selected manually (does not apply to tower mounted ballistae)
  • Fixed multiple troops pushing ladders off walls repeatedly.
  • Fixed bug which allowed tower mounted siege equipment to be built whilst an enemy was in close proximity.
  • Auto-scrolling chat in multiplayer game lobby now fixed.
  • Fixed exploit where food could be sold repeatedly during periods of latency in multiplayer games.
  • Various other bug and crash fixes

      This game was brilliant. The best and only Castle Sim available. If they updated this, new maps and quest line I would for sure buy it, but hey updates were piss poor.

      It’s better than any SiM game, and more realistic. I remember when Lord of the Rings hit the cinema, and watching it, and thinking ..fuckinhell, Stronghold 2 has hit the nail on the head here, its exactly like the wars in Lord of the rings! This game will be massive; the weapons used, having to look after your crops, your villages, your churches, the people who commit crimes, build torture chambers for the criminals, build wheat farms, hops and crops, brew beer, build different barracks, build armor smiths, employ woodworkers! employ peasants to do numerous jobs such as look after the crops, hose-down buildings which set on fire, chase rats out of the villages, take care of the king!! make sure a good variety of food is being produced, make sure everyone is happy, get a profitable income! and finally defend your villages and king from onslaught!! About 15 things to do at once..non stop action packed fun for many hours.

      These days I play LOTRO :- )
