Stranger Than Fiction DVDRip XviD-MDP

It’s just something like 30 minutes when you can download a brand new dvdrip of a romantic comedy Stranger Than Fiction. This is a very good progress, since it’s something like 2 weeks from the release of first telesync – and the dvdrip is already on the scene. This looks pretty real, samples are clear and colourful and no nukes so far…

Karen Effiel is an author writing her latest novel about an isolated man named Harold Crick. What she doesn’t know is that her fictionalized character is real. The real Harold Crick is an IRS agent who has lived a dull existence and one day begins to hear Karen’s voice as she narrates what she puts on paper to what Harold has and is doing. Because of this Harold enlists the help of a literary professor to find out what is happening and ends up changing things about his life including beginning a relationship with his IRS client, a government-hating bakery owner named Ana Pascal. Harold, however, finds trouble when he hears that Karen plans to kill him.

  2. February 13th, 2007 | 22:55

okey so this release got nuked for another pretty stupid reason

    qpel not allowed

the very same proper just without qpel was released 3 mins ago:

    wat is qpel??

  4. February 13th, 2007 | 23:10

“Quarter pixel (often also called as q-pel or qpel) refers to a quarter of a standard pixel. It is an often-used term in video technology.”

MDP version is nuked at vcdquality: qpel.not.allowed. DIAMOND already released a proper version.

are there any proper good versions out as the diamond proper has been nuked for being out of sync?

  12. February 14th, 2007 | 00:30

“Quarter pixel motion compensation has the advantage of delivering sharper images than default half pixel.” Wikipeda.

Why the scene has nuked it, is beyond me. It took the “scene” longe time to even embrace xvid. Some groups still think mpeg 2 (svcd) is nuked.. and only vcd is “real” scene standard. I can not understand why they nuke a file for being too good…. and now you are telling me that the DIAMOND files are nuked too. :(

oh, well, we just have to wait… after all its free ;)

  13. February 14th, 2007 | 00:31

Yup, Diamond’s proper is nuked too…

  14. fumanchu
    February 14th, 2007 | 00:44

    Big f**king NO.

The scene nukes releases with qpel, because xvid-capable standalone player can’t play these.

    So that’s the reason why!

  15. February 14th, 2007 | 00:49

almost no hardware player like kiss and the rest can play qpel
so i think thats why the scene nuke qpel releases

    jarhead: no

both releases were nuked, the first one (MDP) because of issues with qpel, and the second one (Diamond) was had out of sync audio.

hopefully tomorrow someone will release a real proper…

Yeah, many standalone players can’t play rips with QPEL or GMC in them. I think it’s good that they nuke rips like that, but I also think they should nuke the ‘custom matrix’ from the Matroska chipset. Most standalone players use the ESS chipset.
aXXo is the only releaser whose rips always work perfectly on my standalone.

Anyway, this release is apparently messed up too. :(

  21. dasp76
    February 14th, 2007 | 01:04

and btw, although many were bitching about the qpel issue as a stupid reason for nuking a release, I actually appreciate the scene paying attention to this.

there are a ton of XViD movies floating out there that my standalone player burps on just because some smart-ass though qpel was a really neat idea.

i say let them go down, and be patient for a proper dvd rip.

  22. jarhead12343
    February 14th, 2007 | 01:21

Do they check these files before they put them on rlslog.net. if they did then they should not even put it on the site.

    February 14th, 2007 | 01:26

OGTXVID have released a ‘Real Proper’ consider the MDP release used qpel and the DiAMOND release is out of sync.

    February 14th, 2007 | 01:35

Let’s say, for instance, that there are people out there who like to convert these xvids to dvd and don’t have xvid capable players.

Will the MDP (qpel) release convert OK? If so, is there any other nukes on this release?

Could someone please respond without all the Scene speak, as it hurts my brain.

  26. Saulo Benigno
    February 14th, 2007 | 02:08

Yes, aXXo releases are the best one for stand-alone players
like the nfo says: “All stand-alone DivX Players compatible”

Too bad rlslog doesn’t post the aXXo releases.

Yet they have a post about it, and more than 60% of the users agree about posting aXXo releases… go figure it out.

    btw, lastest aXXo releases:

    - Alpha Dog 2006
    - Tenacious D – The Pick Of Destiny 2006
    - Flushed Away 2006
    - Running With Scissors 2006

all 1 CD and from retaild DVD.

    just checking ;)

    @ hibby
I dunno about the OGT rls being ok, but if you were to convert the MDP rls to DVD you should be fine with watching it on your stand alone player.

    Saulo
If you have the bandwith you could appreciate the high quality scene rips that dont use 1 CD standards, hence why they aren’t put here and for the blatantly obvious reason that they aren’t scene rips.

  29. hibby
    February 14th, 2007 | 02:37

Thanks for the quick response ilbozo – I’ll chance it with the MDP release.

  30. February 14th, 2007 | 02:52

I agree with Bootyquake, rips with QPEL, GMC and Custom Matrix should be nuked. My standlone DivX/XviD player plays CM but not QPEL and GMC and it has one of the most powerful chips on the market which is the Mediatek 1389.
    I hope Stranger.Than.Fiction.2006.REAL.PROPER.DVDRip.XviD-OGTXViD won’t be nuked.

still none the wiser guys which is the best one to download could not download any of the OGTXVID anyway becuase they asked for pass keys from other sites .I guess I’ll just have to wait for NTi version come on guys soon I have been waiting for this for a while now surprised it was not avaialble in better quality sooner for oscar review purposes

    February 14th, 2007 | 06:40

can someone at least say if the out-of-sync prob in the diamond rls is consistent? i.e. can be fixed by a constant time shift throughout the movie

  38. Bootyquake
    February 14th, 2007 | 06:48

The sad part is that all these ’scene’ groups are in such a hurry to one-up each other, they end up cranking out a bunch of crap and then no one wins. I mean, it’s good to get movies you want to see, but I wish these ’scene’ groups were more obsessed with quality releases than with being first.

aXXo is a f*ckup. No 5.1, only 1 CD releases. Sometimes he comes up with weird 800MB/900MB releases. I mean, common aXXo, everyone’s got 5.1 systems nowadays, give us the 2 CD releases…

  46. ilbozo
    February 14th, 2007 | 14:11

Does anyone have nukes and or reasons for the OGT rls? I cant find any in fact the only results are that it is fine.
So sounds to me like the OGT one is the one to get if you want a stand alone compatible version but if you’re just watching it on your pc or converting then the MDP rls is fine.

  47. keithalan

    February 14th, 2007 | 22:16

    its miles out of sync

  54. Cam
    February 15th, 2007 | 00:07

Not only the audio is completely out of sync but also it does not match the video.

The first 8 minutes of movie is replaced by an interview but the sound is from the start of the movie !! This means 8 minutes off sync and missing story.

These assholes don’t even check their own files?

  55. Metaph
    February 15th, 2007 | 01:34

    Hi All,

Dunno what mike and cam were talking about.. the OGT release is actually REAL.PROPER.. no probs with the audio at all.. Geez!

  56. Aris
    February 15th, 2007 | 02:59

    To get things straight;

IMDB says OGTXVID release is 8/10 no synch problems

    According to Metaph;

NT says is out of synch!!!

    WHO DO WE BELIEVE????

  59. fy
    February 15th, 2007 | 15:49

diamond “proper” – audio out of sync
ogtxvid – no prob, get this.

original mdp release is actually just fine as long as you aren’t using a standalone player

you can’t not like this film. fresh writing with an acclaimed director to boot. the vein is kaufmanesque but more emotive, lighter, less cynical.
