Stormlord - Mare Nostrum [2008]

THIS IS THE CURSE OF MEDUSAAAAAA! Gee wiz, this song, in the live version, is so brilliant, although I usually don’t like live recordings but this just kicks ass :P Anyways, a few hours ago the Council Music Group (CMG) released Stormlord’s newest Album. Nothing much to say, except support this small band by attending at their gigs and recommend them to your friends :)

Stormlord is an epic black metal (self-classified as “Extreme epic metal”) band from Rome, Italy. They have released four full-length albums. Their prominent use of keyboards compared to many other black metal bands gives their sound an epic feel, much like power metal.
Most of their songs have an epic theme, recurring to stories and characters from Greek Mythology (Zeus, Hades, Persephone, Prometheus, Medusa, Titans), and battles. Their vocalist, Cristiano can sing in two voices: the first one high pitched, which is relative to black metal and the second is more guttural and monstrous, which is relative to death metal and often used for choruses.

What kind of freaks listen to this music anyway!

Just look at the picture, what a bunch of spastics! Only people who have serious social issues like this type of music … goths, emos, or whatever they are calling themselves, I don’t know cause I just couldn’t care less about them.

Why do RLSLOG even post SH!T like this! I know its a log about different releases, but come on, post about something interesting!

    @TempPD

You’re stupid. I listen to many Metal genres and I don’t have any social life issues. I don’t dress like a goth/emo nor like a metalhead. I don’t even wear bands t-shirts.

    Go die.

  16. TempPD
    May 18th, 2008 | 20:17

    @ 14 Orph,

Fine, I won’t disagree with you on that point but a lot of songs by these types of groups have some devil/death/etc theme attached to them. Almost every song is about live sucking, feeling bad and depressed, anger, and so on.

Hiphop is people trying to think they are “gangsta” or however its spelt, I’m not sure. They are all like “I’m so cool, I’ll shoot you with my AK, fool” or whatever, white sub-urban teens thinking they are black (I’m not racist b.t.w), and other stuff like that. I won’t even start on it.

About club, well that depends on what type of club music you talk about. Most commercial stuff is harmless enough, you and your mates might have a few beers, be in the nightclub and dance around, its grand. The hard-house scene has its problems too, extasy, LSD, cocaine, speed, etc but that is a whole different ballgame.

What I am talking about generally is social acceptance and appearance. While you would see wannabe rappers or whoever around the streets, or on the rare occasion a person looking like they were going to a rave, they are still not thought of as outcasts. That is what those goth type people are like, social outcasts, “freaks”, wierdos, and whatever other generalisation is given to them.

    @13

you did a very lousy and childish attempt at arguing on the Internet.Your arguments are pointless and have no weight like your very low T-cell count.

What’s on the line here, nuclear holocaust? The universe collapsing to critical density? Or just the ego of a wanker who needs attention to reaffirm his own sense of self-intelligence?

I like Metal and pop. That means I have at once impeccable taste AND my opinions have no weight. OH f**k NO PARADOX. How does that work ?

    May 18th, 2008 | 20:21

    May 18th, 2008 | 20:25

    @ 15

Why would you tell a person to “Go die” because they have an opinion about some topic?

I do know that people do listen to the music and don’t take it any further than that, which is fine and I respect that, which I believe is what you do, but just take a look at the picture of this album. Can you honestly tell me that those men look like honest respectable gentlemen? (especially that man at the bottom of the picture)

  20. orph
    May 18th, 2008 | 20:27

  22. TempPD
    May 18th, 2008 | 20:42

Nothing is on the line, I never even mentioned such a thing. I’m stating my valid opinion on this genre of music. If you, or others, disagree with my opinion, that is perfectly okay with me because I’m sure you probably have your own valid opinions.

About reaffirming my “own sense of self-intelligence”, that is not the case as I have got a BSc (Hons), MSc, and a PhD in Computing (Software Development) and I am still in my early 20’s.

I am very open-minded, have many friends in different cultures, countries, races, backgrounds, etc but I do feel that people who dress like that are deliberately trying to make themselves seem detached from the normal society.

@TempPD: nice point of view! But you got in the wrong post to make it :) these ppls are stuck with their love for the metal thing and they won’t let it go. You can’t do anything about it cause they won’t listen to someone who is “out of the box”. That’s sad …

  24. orph
    May 18th, 2008 | 20:50

we need a degree in Software Development to understand intellectual music? You think Metal is the opposite of intellectual music? Sorry to disappoint you The only effort you’ve put forth is making yourself look like an elitist..

    @24

What’s over my head, the fact that you prefer to dress like everyone else ? Or that you think you have a better understanding of what you think is good music?

  25. dragoshell
    May 18th, 2008 | 20:53

    @25

I never mentioned anything about “intellectual music”, what are you talking about? I couldn’t care less about what qualifications a person had when it come to what type of music they listen to. In post #18, you were talking about reaffirming my “own sense of self-intelligence” and I simply stated that I was not and that this was certainly not the case.

If you were to talk about “intellectual music”, I believe that Classical music would be based under this category. Theatre, Opera, etc would be, in my opinion, “intellectual music”. What are your views on “intellectual music”?

    ————————————————————-
You get these topics in Metal, true. But “almost every song” is way to over exaggerated.

Can you honestly tell me that those men look like honest respectable gentlemen? (especially that man at the bottom of the picture)
    ————————————————————-
Oh, i didn’t know that Willem Dafoe was a bad guy in real life, because he played the Green Goblin in Spiderman… HEY WAIT! how can he be a good guy now in Anamorph?? Its all about how you act on stage and off stage…

these ppls are stuck with their love for the metal thing and they won’t let it go. You can’t do anything about it cause they won’t listen to someone who is “out of the box”. That’s sad …
    ————————————————————-
Metal is my fav. genre.(dot) I still like to listen to other things too. Now dont act like your patting TempPD on the back with the meaning “dude dont waist your time with those guys” or something like that. Since this is a metal post: “nice point of view! But you got in the wrong post to make it” what the hell is there to argue in this post? either you like it or you dont. you cant prove any points about music in posts at all…

With those film references you are reinforcing my main point about appearance; it’s about what it represents.

  41. May 18th, 2008 | 22:03

true. but you still cant judge from their appearance if they are gentlemen or not, since what you see atm. is “on-stage”

    May 18th, 2008 | 22:03

Yes, I totally agree with you but I am talking about the people that follow that theme and believe in it. How can one be, lets say a sadist (ya I know, not all sadist) on the one hand and be a gentleman on the other; they have conflicting interests.

  47. TempPD
    May 18th, 2008 | 22:30

    haha, lol @ 45 ninjass May 18th, 2008 | 22:17

It really does not matter who wins, actually there is no winner, just people left at the end of it with different opinions. There are no facts or whatever involved here, just conflicts of opinion.

    May 18th, 2008 | 22:32

  49. May 18th, 2008 | 22:35

Sadism’ refers to sexual or non-sexual gratification in the infliction of pain or humiliation upon or by another person.
    ————————————————————–
    sadist? :o

    +

who says they are really satanists just because they sing about it and stuff?

  50. orph
    May 18th, 2008 | 22:38

He has based his whole argument on stereotypes

  51. May 18th, 2008 | 22:38

heh yeah, well i am off to bed –> gn8

  52. TempPD
    May 18th, 2008 | 22:45

I do believe that there is a good chance that the bands are not Satanists but they (sometimes) sing about morally wrong topics. I don’t want to argue about what’s “morally wrong”. They do sing about pain, it being inflicted, self-inflicted, emotional pain, etc.
Their general audience (not all!!!) take this as being true, a way of live, whatever you want to call it.

If you do truly like this music, could you explain why you like listening to songs about depressing issues?

  53. orph
    May 18th, 2008 | 22:51

How many metal bands have you listened to ?

Metal is a broad genre with a vast amount of lyrical content not limited to he subjects you have mentioned

You want to know why people like metal. Because it is vast and diverse. Theres metal, heavy metal, power metal, doom metal, death metal, progressive metal, folk metal, melodic metal, thrash metal, gothic metal, black metal, and many types I haven’t even named. There’s different types for different tastes. I like metal, but I don’t like all metal. I’m not going to rag on the band or people for their taste in music. And not all metal is depressing, that’s just what your little mind thinks.

If I picked friends by the type of music they like I’d have even less friends than I already do. BUT I still think the guy on the left is very amusing. He’s making a muscle and has a great arm band thing around a little skinny arm that has never seen the inside of a gym. Why? And the look on his face. He’s look the same way if he was an accountant. I think the same thing about many “alternative” type people. They really look exactly like they would if their life went a different direction, but they don’t realize it. they “think” they have accomplished something with their appearance. Or something?

I’m starting to save some of these album pics. I don’t know what for, they’re just too funny to lose.

  68. john dykes

after carefully analyzing each and every your comments and hours of personal research, i’ve come to my final conclusion that metal is indeed for geeks/nerds.

furthermore, TempPD proved that most “metalheads” are incapable of objective thinking (see above comments for proof) and react with out of context comments such as “go get a girlfriend” + “go listen to hip hop” etc. to compensate for their lack of knowledge about music and/or life.

i mean come on, in all seriousness, just one look at the picture above, don’t you “metalheads” see whats wrong? i mean really.. if you think looking like THAT isn’t already a crime then i am sorry to tell you that you have been mislead.

TempPD: First of all I won’t hear this rls, because it just irritate my ears. But other ppl likes it. Second, I don’t have proper English.
“Almost every song is about live sucking, feeling bad and depressed, anger, and so on.” “If you were to talk about “intellectual music”, I believe that Classical music would be based under this category. Theatre, Opera, etc” So example Blues is an intellectual music? Because more than the half of it is about live sucking, feeling bad and depressed because our lover left us, don’t love us, etc. Theatre, Opera: the situation is the same. Mad kings, devils, killers, Romeo&Juliets, whose killed themselves because feeling bad and depressed, and because life sucks. Humanity likes to suffering. Why? Go ask it from your philosophy teacher in the university. If you just try listening more metal, you will see, that not all of them about satanism, and death, and anger. Try example Amorphis. They are a hard one, but they should fit to your ears. Or Nightwish.
An lol man, these guys in the picture is just pathetic. :D
