Stephen Hawking And The Theory Of Everything S01E01-02 DVDRip XviD-NOsegmenT

NOsegmenT is a great group who often releases TV releases, and sometimes TV DVDRips. NOsegmenT is a great example for other groups to follow, as they spend time checking over their releases for quality (sometimes), and include the required technical information in their NFOs. In the release notes the grp states “This is the same as the 2 programmes that aired in the UK except this is about 4mins shorter and has an American narrator instead” . These programs are in journey into the mind of Dr. Stephen Hawking, and his life-long quest for a theory of everything.

QualityR2 DVD9 sources provide strong PAL quality, while the 192 AC3 audio channel acts as the icing on the cake. Release dates were March 30, 2008. As for being less than half way through E01, audio falls oos +900ms. But on a documentary such as this audio sync does not ruin it.

Stephen Hawking’s The Theory of Everything is ground breaking and exciting series in which Professor Stephen Hawking examines just how far our understanding of the universe has developed in our own lifetimes. Taking on board the astonishing scientific advances of the past 20 years Hawking is able to introduce fresh ideas which even he dared not imagine two decades ago. In his own words: ‘Twenty years on, my need to find answers to the fundamental questions about our existence, is undiminished.’ Hawking drives this landmark series with his continued fascination with the big questions. How did the Universe begin? How will it end? What was there before it? Hawking is our guide and mentor on a journey through the Universe, in which the world’s most exciting and eminent scientists join him in explaining mysteries of physics in a unique and accessible way. From the macro to the micro Hawking explores supernovae, black holes, dark matter, and the sub-atomic world to bring the biggest questions of all to the small screen with extraordinary aplomb and clarity.

Yes redpanda! Those damn Amerikans mess everything up! You are correct, the world would be a better place without them causing trouble. They are fat and ugly and lazy too, don’t you agree?

Anyway, thanks for posting this show. For an Amerikan, Stephen Hawking actually has a little bit of brain at least when compared to Europe.

I’m from europe, Sweden to be exact. the way you bash on americas citizens is just idiotic. and boring. you fcking stuck ups. their current politicians can suck it up and leave the throne to someone with a diplomatic vision, yes. but don’t you act like you’re better, don’t act like europe is some kind of free zone with a higher state of intelligence. because we all know that’s not the case. we are SO far from flawless.

Stephen Hawking is a genius with an appetite for knowledge, I think we would all be better if we looked at the big questions instead of the small.

I have watched this already, but might get it to see what the new narrator brings to the table. To be honest most people I know can’t understand basic english from a true Englishman/Brit so the need to dumb it down as was earlier suggested, may not be a bad thing. Honestly though I don’t know how you can dumb down his theories, it takes more than a modicum of concentration just to fully comprehend the more complex theories he expounds on.

Thanks to RLSLOG as usual for putting these up. Good going Mr. X, as usual.

Stephen Hawking is a damn opportunist and sensationalist, he should be sued and put in jail for misleading the masses and using such big words and concepts irresponsibly. If he really wanted to deal with all those “big questions”, he would take effort to read Greek philosophical writings, he would think for himself, and realize how the answers are simple, so simple they might seem stupid… A little bit of assymetry, a little bit of symmetry, and BOOM: there are colours, movement, perception, even stars, planets etc. It’s all in your head. I mean, it’s so sweet that Hawking promotes science, but I would stay away from all those “big scientists” and “geniuses”, especially those who write fancy “formulas”, such as E=mcc. Those are the REAL lunatics, not the people in asylums, lol!

  31. redpanda
    April 8th, 2008 | 01:50

the point is, WHY did they have to change the narrator to an american one? Is it because a lot of americans won’t watch “foreign” documentaries and films because “accents and subtitles are too hard”! And that apparently includes English!

  32. Milstar
    April 8th, 2008 | 02:06

Actually for the “English” and “American” narration is due to american networks having larger commercial airing requirements. So bits and pieces are snipped out. In these cases the American versions are generally slightly shorter in length. The Planet Earth series for instance….

I read a book with several essays of Stephen Hawking. The stuff is very interesting and can really make you think about the nature of existence and reality. As a Christian I have a different perspective but my faith is the glue that ties the mysteries together in a cohesive whole. But no matter who you are (even if you are dumb) , everyone can enjoy this.

awesome! very nice post, and i would love to see more like this. hawking is brilliant.. the mind of ‘god’ as in a true explanation of where everything came from, just as we all learned the earth was round and not flat, to finally be able to understand more than a mythic tale told by simple minds to calm the bewildered minds. something as simple as an eclipse created by a shadow can be understood now… but in the days of early man, might be explained very differently…. no? god is based off of the stars and earths rotation.. zeitgeist does a good job in my opinion at explaining that. i totally recommend checking out these

@7 — When the very popular show “The Deadliest Catch” was shown in the UK, the excellent narration was replaced by a British narrator. Unfortunately, the Season 2 that’s floating around the net is this bastardized version instead of the superior original.

So annoying when Brits feel the need to replace the narrator! They need their own dumbed-down english so as to comprehend whats going on…….

  67. Sridattadev Kancharla
    April 18th, 2008 | 14:41

    Dear All,

I have been following the work of several of the prominent scientists to come up with a theory of everything. It seems that in this search of everything, one most important thing has not been considered. Who am I? I am in this universe as much as it is in me. Imagination is more important than knowledge for all that we know is just an imagination. Mind travels faster than light. It is not mind over matter, it is only mind that matters.

If universe is the meaning of understanding of one’s surroundings, then it is created with every birth and destroyed with every death. Universe is in a steady big bang state. The moment a thought arises the universe comes to existence. If one can still the mind to absoluteness then there will be absolutely nothing. That absolute state of mind is the Soul (spirit) with in all of us. Relativity of thougths is what makes the physical world. Everything has a mind of its own, Nothing is mind itself. If life is the meaning of our relative existence on this planet then we were all dead even before we were born, so why fear death as we all have already experienced death.

According to E=MC2, mass gets converted to energy when it travels at squared the speed of light. Thoughts travel faster than light and are continually getting converted to Mass or reality. Reality as it seems can be termed delayed implementation of imagination. Human brain is one of the best particle accelerator nature has created, for we use it to contiuously convert mass (food we eat) to energy (thoughts we get). S=BM2 (S-Soul, B-Body, M-Mind). Create a body with a thought, destroy the body with a thought and find the innermost self, Soul. As light can not escape black holes gravity and time stops in a black hole, so does a dead man can’t see light or has no sense of time.

The theory of everthing is that there is absolutely nothing.
God is absolute state of mind, soul that is everything and nothing.
We are relative states of mind, bodies that are something in between.

I don’t understand how you can consider the American dialect as “dumbed down”. It is easier to understand because it’s clear and concise. I lived in England, and in Gibraltar for 4 years and American English is SO FAR SUPERIOR to the Brit English it’s pathetic. In the UK, the dialect changes every twenty or so miles, and most of them sound drunk(probably because they are). The American version is better.. Most Brits are only in school till they are 16 years old with an IQ of 80 or so.. Stephen Hawking was a great man, even if he was British. Thanks X!!
