Stardock WindowBlinds Enhanced v6.1 Build 55 97-NoPE

Personally I’m not a (big) fan of NoPE’s 0day/Appz releases. Why? Because most of them are not properly cracked or not working at all. But this one seems to be worth posting. Does it work? Find out for yourself, didn’t tested it. Read cracking instructions.

Description: WindowBlinds is a one-of-a-kind utility that allows Windows users to completely change the look and feel of the Windows interface by applying a new skin. There are thousands of different skins to choose from that are freely downloadable from the WindowBlinds website.A WindowBlinds skin can make Windows look like an alternative operating system, like their favorite sports or car brand, or something completely new. Because WindowBlinds uses the latest hardware acceleration features of modern video cards, WindowBlinds won’t slow down your computer and uses very little memory.

WindowBlinds is safe and easy to use. It doesn’t alter any system files and users can switch between the default Windows look and feel and a custom WindowBlinds skin with the click of a button. In addition, WindowBlinds has been tested to ensure it works with Windows Vista, so you know it is compatible, reliable and more secure.

Features:

  • New start menu animation support
  • Category filtering on skins in wbconfig
  • Tag filtering on wallpapers in wbconfig
  • Random skin support
  • The ability to save a re-coloring of a skin as a preset
  • Advanced HSL re-coloring where you pick a single color and a range in a skin and you can just change that color instead of the entire skin
  • Ability to edit the system colors from wbconfig
  • Ability to change skin fonts from wbconfig
  • Ability to control transparency and blur on start menu, menus, taskbar & window frames. Has some limitations on XP
  • Ability to save such changes as a preset
  • Vista-Ize me function which sets some defaults to have a more vista like look
  • Ability to skin the sidebar
  • Ability to edit a sidebar skin from within wbconfig
  • Improved WB skin install when handling upgrades of skins
  • Ability to alter the mouse over animation speed
  • Ability to alter the default button pulsing speed
  • Support for explorer background bitmaps
  • Ability to use the Aero frames with the rest of the skin
  • Blur support in title bars (and menus on vista)
  • Lots of new sections for new Vista specific parts
  • Including IE navigation arrows, IE tabs, start menu shutdown/lock buttons
  • Skins virtually every aspect of the Windows GUI
  • Clean and easy configuration dialog.
  • Tons of configuration options for users
  • Animation supported on titlebars, buttons, and many other elements.
  • Change the color of any visual style on the fly
  • Per-application visual styles
  • Doesn’t alter any system files
  • Safe, reliable way to change the look and feel of Windows

you say you didnt test so you dont know if it works…and then posted it for us to take the gamble.

yeah, thats the way staff should run this site…lots of respect from you to the users here.

is it really that much to ask for you first to test it…and if it works, then post it?

    May 10th, 2008 | 22:38

I stupidly paid for this several years ago, and found it wasn’t worth renewing my license for (money for which they demand on a yearly basis no less). Like someone else said, most of the themes suck. The only one I really liked was the one I ended up making for myself. Really, patching the uxtheme.dll is all you really need if this is what you’re into.

    May 10th, 2008 | 23:09

While it still wont work you can write protect the crack file to prevent it getting deleted all the time after you copied it. This will prevent the activation window you will recieve after the program closes itself randomly when you desperatly try to change skins that just wont seem to apply… Yet you will click for hours and doing this will speed it up for you!

    cheers!

  36. BinaryBeast
    May 10th, 2008 | 23:11

so is it the program or something because none of the skins “stick”, nothing changes only goes back to windows classic look.

So, when can we expect a repack/proper of this ?

  40. Respect-My-Authority
    May 10th, 2008 | 23:39

All I see changed in that picture is the color, and Vista lets you choose from a few pre-determined colors, (red, blue, black, green, etc.) or you can use the color mixer to choose your own. You can also use the color intensity slidebar to make it darker or lighter. That’s really all I see changed in the picture, thus Vista users won’t really need this. Can you do anything else with it that Vista can’t already do itself?

  41. xyztynz
    May 10th, 2008 | 23:41

Uh this is what I did and it worked for me:

    Reboot PC

It works, all of those who can’t get it to work are just too simple to figure it out. I had to walk 3 people through this when I clearly showed screen shots, on multiple operating systems showing it that is works just like it is supposed to. If you can’t get it to work then pay for the damn program, simple as that!!

  58. DaDOME
    May 11th, 2008 | 01:24

windowblinds is such a resource hog… there is an alternative that uses the windows own property->display setting that provides the same affect… just a simple hack.

    May 11th, 2008 | 01:32

Anyone try this with XP SP3? Only reason I ask is I recently decided to reformat my PC..replaced my old set up with “Windows XP Professional Performance Edition Service Pack 3 April 2008″ ..PC is working like a charm now but just looks like crap visually compared to my old SP2 set up..since I did a clean install using SP3 there’s no way to roll back to SP2 unless I want to reformat again (out of the question) ..already tried StyleXP with no luck, just wondering if this works or not on SP3

  60. xyztynz
    May 11th, 2008 | 01:45

    @ #61 DaDOME

WindowBlinds has zero resource footprint, only time it uses resources is when you’re changing styles.

    @ #62 B

    It does works with SP3.

  61. B
    May 11th, 2008 | 02:15

thanks for the heads up xyztynz..think I’ll give it a shot. with my reformat I decided to dual boot XP and OSX..so working in OSX for a few hours then switching over to XP has XP lookin’ like garbage lol..hopefully this works

The links are new so get ‘em before they get taken down. make sure to register first or you won’t see links.. it would also help to install cracked versions of ‘IconPackager’ & ‘CursorXP’ for some real eye candy.. not to mention a great forum to get some top notch skins for WB.

If you want real eyecandy you should get some Ubuntu distro (or any linux if you know what you’re doing), this doesn’t even begin to compare to the eyecandy you get for free there.

  66. uxtheme
    May 11th, 2008 | 02:57

    @ Moussa KZ.
You don’t need StyleXP. All you need is the patched uxtheme.dll

    patched uxtheme.dll for Windows XP x86 SP3
    http://rapidshare.com/files/114036735/patched_uxtheme_for_XP_sp3.zip

Download that and double click the copyren.bat
wait a few seconds for the windows file protection prompt to popup that will say something like a system file has been replace and do you want to keep this new file. when it does press the YES button.
wait a few more seconds to see if it pops up again. If it does just say yes that you want to keep, and if you get a prompt for the windows CD press the cancel button.
Now reboot and use the .msstyle files of your choice.

  67. B
    May 11th, 2008 | 03:24

Tried Windowblinds, got it activated, applied my first theme and it didn’t do a thing..doesn’t appear to be SP3 friendly..gonna try the patched uxtheme.dll method and see how it goes

  68. B
    May 11th, 2008 | 03:36

Ahhh I give up..tried the patched uxtheme.dll method, double clicked copyren.bat..it launches command prompt for a split second but doesn’t pop up with any windows file protection prompts or windows cd prompt..after a reboot I tried to load a new theme, windows goes through the usual motions and gives the “please wait” message..then bam..nothing, same theme as before..not sure what’s up, seems like nothing I try is SP3 friendly..not this build anyway

    Hey B
    try this then
    http://rapidshare.com/files/114043439/SP3_UXtheme_patcher_1.1.exe
it does the same thing as the bat file.

and are you trying to apply stardock themes, or .msstyle files?
useing the patched dll is for windows msstyle files not stardock themes.
here is where the windows themes go
    C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes
here is a classic modded theme RhodiumX
    http://rapidshare.com/files/114044183/RhodiumX.zip
just double click the RhodiumX.msstyles after you successfully patch the uxtheme.dll

to each their own, I prefer mac over pc anyday..since installing the dual boot method on my dell I use OSX about 95% of the time and XP SP3 about 5% of the time (only when I have to) ..nothing against XP, OSX is just a more enjoyable experience..for me anyway.

After rebooting my pc, windowblinds always ask for reboot from the anti-virus/antispyware thingy. I tried reinstalling windowblinds with my anti-virus turned off and also set exclusions for it but to no avail. It just keeps asking me to reboot pc and if I press use additional resources nothing happens. I have uxtheme patcher 5.5 installed is that the culprit?
Please help I really want to apply skins from WB!

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/UXTheme-MultiPatcher.shtml

Place all Theme or Visual style files in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. then click to apply.

Use deviantArt for good professional styles.

    1) Install WindowBlinds
    2) Close activation window (twice)
    3) Start task-manager and kill:
    -> vista: WbVista.exe (and VistaSrv.exe if listed)
    -> xp: WBINST~1.exe
    4) Start the keyfilemaker and apply the patch toWbSrv.dll
    5) Generate a keyfile and save it in the same folder

    Works in x86 pc, i don’t testing in x64

@73 , yeah right windows is superiour to MAC OSX. haha you make my day with this remark!
maybe you can apply a mac skin with your windowblinds just to make it look like OSX.
but than again, it’s still M$.

prolly best to forget windowblinds and just patch the uxtheme file in windows http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&q=uxtheme&meta=&btnG=Google+Search
then you dont have to have crappy software running in the background

do yourself a favor and do a search for Embrace’s patch that came out a few month back for version 6.

it does the trick for this one, heh if your lucky you already have it stored someplace.

Yes, nothing has changed with testing this program.

    Simple solution!
Open the directory where the program is located, and delete a file called ‘Activation (its the icon with a key).’ Thats it, no more activation messages.
