S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl Update 1.0006-ViTALiTY
Guys from ViTALiTY released another new update – this time a patch 1.0006 for a popular action FPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It’s been some time since the release of this game (almost a year) and I guess not many of you still play it so this patch won’t be most likely too popular, but even though it fixes just few minor bugs, it may be useful to install it.
Changelog:
1. Fixed crashes connected with memory allocation.
2. Fixed crashes upon disconnecting of the client, who didn’t have the map used on the server (when using a game MOD).
3. Added uptime parameter to the dedicated server info, indicating the time of uninterrupted server functioning in days, minutes and seconds.
4. Fixed crash connected with the shooting from the grenade launcher.
5. Fixed crash connected with dropped/eaten item.
6. Fixed crash connected with starting new game (for example, upon map changing).
7. Fixed crash connected with joining to the server upon map changing (the client respawned on the old map, while the other players already switched to the new).
8. Fixed bug with killing the players when too many players appeared on the base when the round started.
9. Fixed bug with killing the player when throwing a grenade.
10. Fixed bug with player’s invisibility when putting armor on.
11. Fixed bug with entering invalid commands in console.

Not a bad game, but not fantastic either. Lost interest about half way through, around the time Bioshock came out. Now that was a good game.

I agree too, with all the mods installed, weather etc.. it really makes the game better however online play is really what this patch is for.

The mere fact that updates are still being released for this somewhat old game implies that the designers actually care for the users…
This is one of the best game ever, you just need to install a couple of mods before playing it, such: Oblivion Lost Mod or Stalker Rebalanced…

wow, really an ‘action fps’?
It’s a good game – I’ve messed around with a number of mods, but I also had to restart several times because some of the mods I used did some stupid stuff – like releasing monsters into the Stalker town and killing everyone (I wanted more action – but not THAT kind of action), another mod caused the military to just keep coming and coming, until like the other one the Stalker village was wiped out. So I guess I’ll have to play it again…

14 is right. The mods spice this game up a lot. I recommend Oblivion Lost, Stalker grows boring without it :]

One of the BEST games ever made if you’re into end of the world realism. Sure its not perfect, but considering the very small dev team in Russia it is quite remarkable.
Also, future versions of this game will obviously fix game play issue missing or non existent in the first one. So give these guys a break, buy the friggin game and enjoy!

I consider not having played this game, like not having played the HalfLife series, there is no excuse.
To be fair I played it after 1.4 was released, so I never ran into any glaring bugs.

Simply an outstanding game. Now playing it a 3rd time with the Oblivion Lost mod.

I picked up S.T.A.L.K.E.R. a few months back from the Clearance bin at Target for like 7 bucks. Best damn seven dollar investment I’ve made in years!

I really didn’t dig this game. My friends liked it well enough, but I guess it never drew me in. Of course, I played it after I beat BioShock so I might have been a little spoiled…
But seriously, what’s the appeal? Most of the quests were fetch this item/save this bloke standard faire. Is there some kind of cool payoff I’m missing? I love the whole Chernobyl mythos. I don’t seem to get it either. The grafics are aweful – i quit + uninstalled when i saw the gun-gfx.
Tho i’m redownloading and installing, to see what i seem to be missing out on.
Great game … finished it 4 times and got all 4 different endings … fantastic cut scene’s.

Indeed. There is also the promise of a massive overhaul patch (v1.1) but the devs said they are mostly focusing on Clear Sky right now, so after it is released (or earlier) we might see that (final?) patch… things such as rebuilt A-Life and AI, tons of bug fixes, reballanced gameplay AND Free-Roam after game completion are only a few of what its supposed to bring… ov what I heard…
Also people with mods, tweaks and so, updating to 1.0006 might brake the game, I recommend updating the vanilla version only… then testing(or updating if its the case) mod by mod.

Well. I’m a pretty hardcore gamer i admit.But the game lacks alot of moderns gfx technology, lights, shadowcasting, etc.
Having said that; bad grafics doesn’t mean a bad game – i’ve installed it again and playing, tho it aint catchy. Which might be the reason why it didn’t become a bestseller.

Has anyone heard of a co-op mod for Stalker? I’m not talking about the mod that allows you to team up co-op with a NPC.

This game sucks: I killed most of enemies, starting form dogs, through soldiers under the bridge, bloodsuckers, soldiers at agroprom, Freedom troops, these jumpy zombies, pseudogiants and of course Monolithians at Pripiat and Chernobyl NPP with a F**KING KNIFE on Veteran (3rd) difficulty level. I shot the rest (inaccessible for knife) with AK found in the beginning.
This is just dumb. It’s like killing all the enemies with FLASHLIGHT or CHAINSAW… wait, this isn’t good example, I did it in Doom3. It’s like killing Shamblers in Quake with an axe!!! Dumb

The game is an excellent openworld game. It’s so cheap now that unless you have no way of purchasing it you should get the retail version (buy it) – then you won’t have to contend with Vitality’s bugs!

I have installed 1.0006 and for some reason nothing shows up on the mini map. No arrow telling you were to go, no enemies, no friendlies, no bodies, its just wasted space… Is there any way to fix it?
