S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl EmuDVD-Unleashed

Hell yeah! After years of waiting, unexpected becomes real, STALKER is here. It was quite clear that this game is finally going into the final stage after releasing the russian demoversion few days ago, and although it’s scheduled to 20 March, you can already download this fresh new EmuDVD released by group Unleashed. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl is a really complex game, which results into the size of 3.2 GB. The first reviews usually scores at something like 90%, so you will regret a lot if you miss this title.

Year 2012. Six years passed since the time of the Second catastrophe to have made the April events of 1986 fade. The game is set in the Chernobyl exclusion zone which turned from a destiny-breaker place into a threat to all mankind. The Zone is reluctant to open up its mysteries and needs to be forced to do it. It is a rare hero who can reach the very heart of the Zone onto find out what danger awaits him there.

A danger which, compared to marauders and enemy groupings, all monsters and anomalies, will seem a mere preparation to the meeting with something more fatal and threatening. But for now… get ready, hero. Collect artefacts and trade, grope your path and keep an eye on the rear, catch roentgens and fight – only make sure you survive! And then, perhaps, if you are persistent and truly lucky, you will find out why all this had fallen on you.

As a player you are free to explore the entire world of the Zone. No physical restrictions. No time limits. You will become a Stalker – a cross between a mercenary and treasure seeker, who is also seen as a plunderer, a scavenger, a loner and, as food. Your task is to locate and retrieve artifacts from anywhere within the Zone.

The key game motif is great freedom of choice how to play. You are entrusted an entire world, a huge territory populated by various creatures, impacted by unknown and bizarre laws, bearing as death, so as glory or richness. On top of that, you are given a minimal set of equipment and the story intrigue.

From that moment on it is your independent explorations and fight. The gameplay will be reactive to the way you construct it: prefer noiseless stealth operations with multi-hour ambushing? Instant assaults? Perhaps you like to explore and trade? Or maybe deep in the heart you are a warrior?

Game features:

  • Living-and-breathing world: virtual monsters and stalkers migrate around the Zone, similarly to the player they are preoccupied with day-to-day things – feeding, fighting, looking for prey, trading, sleeping, taking rest
  • Freedom of movement around the storyline, limited only by the player’s will and abilities
  • The world of post-Soviet environment
  • Authentic objectives of the Chernobyl exclusion zone – the power engineers city of Pripyat, Chernobyl NPP, Chernobyl-2 complex of over-the-horizon detection and more
  • Atmosphere of eerie mystery and constant danger
  • Multiple game endings
  • System of weather effects and dynamic day & night shift
  • Photo-realistic graphics, adding to the game atmosphere immersion
  • Realistic ballistics, extensive arsenal of real weapon prototypes
  • Unique multiplayer modes implemented within the game entourage – artefacts collection, anomalies, radiation, weather effects, day & night change etc
  • Extensive map editor possibilities for multiplayer gaming

Recommended system requirements:

  • AMD Athlon 64×2 4800+ or Intel Core 2 Duo,
  • 1Gb RAM,
  • 100% DirectXR 9.0c compatible 256MB (Geforce 7800, for example).

It should be noted that at the start of the game development our initially targeted system requirements were much lower. As a result (and due to the lengthy game development) the game can be played well on lower-end systems (the game ships with two renders – DirectX 8 and DirectX 9 one). Additionally, the game allows to scale various options for optimal performance. For the maximum quality and performance, the more powerful system you have, the better.

For those who have Ati cards, in the options/graphics I have turned off dynamic light and I’ve select static light. I’ve been playing for 2h and no problems so you should try it too.

Yes it seems to be driver problem, hope ati will fix it soon…

Peleeze! If you like a game that forces you to restart from your last save (which isn’t far from the beginning!) every few moments because you just got tore to shreds by some wild dogs that fly through walls or you just got shot to death from 50 different directions or just dropped dead for no apparent reason at all then go for this game.
I have a better gaming laptop than any of the above writers and can move all the settings to highest level and yes, the visual graphics and general ambiance of the physical appearance of the game are stunning but the truth here is the odds of making it through this game or even to the second level are zero for most because it is to hard.
THQ has not released a godmode code yet which makes the game, in all it’s visual glory, basically, worthless. I require interaction in a PC game, duh, spending all my time restarting game from the same place I left off 1000 times already is not interaction, it is dreary monotony.
    Thumbs down THQ.
At least let me run through this mess in godmode so I can view the nice (?) scenery.
