Southland Tales Limited DVDRip XviD-CROPTHIS
Back from my holiday (did you miss me?) and straight into rlslog posting. Here we go. A DVDrip of Southland Tales, a film that has been highly anticipated by many. Since the only previous release of this was a cam from CAMERA which was nuked, a dvdrip on 2 CD’s is very much appreciated. This release is from brand new group CROPTHIS and hopefully it wont be nuked, but you never know with new groups. Richard Kelly hasn’t directed since his cult hit Donnie Darko, so this is a major release. If you found Donnie Darko hard to understand you will definitely have a hard time with this one though according to reviews. Should be worth a watch though.
Quality: The video quality looks great and the sound is also very good throughout the entire film. 1492kb/s video bitrate and 448kb/s AC3 sound is very promising. Thanks to CROPTHIS and lets hope this isn’t nuked.
Southland Tales is an ensemble piece set in the futuristic landscape of Los Angeles on July 4, 2008, as it stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. Boxer Santaros is an action star who’s stricken with amnesia. His life intertwines with Krysta Now, an adult film star developing her own reality television project, and Ronald Taverner, a Hermosa Beach police officer who holds the key to a vast conspiracy.

A guy from a boyband, Handed the best producers in mainstream music, Handed amazing roles in Mainstream Movies. And all because he is a young white male singing R&B music just as well as a black R&B musician.
He’s talented, it’s just the way the cookie crumbles that bothers me.
Oh yeah, and the fact that he ruined that Samuel Jackson/ Christina Ricci film. The acting on his part was atrocious.

I noticed that in sites where the DVD is being sold,
there are details that confirm that there are english subtitles in it.
this movie went straight to dvd not even a release in the states timberland looks like an elfin in this movie

You’re an idiot. Mememto and Donnie Darko made a lot of sense and were brilliant. It’s just that you had to have some intelligence to fully appreciate the complex nature of those films. I’m not sure Southland Tales is as good as those movies considering how silly the cast is, but I’ll have to watch and see.

The only thing this movie was missing was Lyndsay Lohan or Jessica Simpson.
Finally a dvd release of this, it never made it to a theater in my area, and i have been wanting to see this. Now all we need is a dvd release of THE MIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anybody know what they cut out because on IMDB it says the Cannes version is 160 minutes while the United States version is 144 minutes.

don’t be distracted by the cast. it’s a pretty good movie, very similar to donnie-darko-esque, special effects are pretty awful but overall it’s an interesting social commentary. definitely isn’t for everyone, but i think everyone should check it out.
Lets not act like Donnie Darko was complex.. Rembrants brilliance could be overshadowed by a potsmoking hippie claiming his abstract lines “meant so much more”. Donnie Darko was a good movie for its imagry and cinematics but it was not merely more than a dream casted on film

That’s what I use, had no joy with it yet. Do you know the ads I mean? Every so often you load up a page and then the ad just takes over your browser until you click to close it in the top right? (Not the window, just the ad). I presume i’s not only me that suffers this!!

@93, I get those too, and I put up with them since they are infrequent, should be paying Rlslog, and help to keep this free. If you have a machine from the last 15 years, it should load in under 4 seconds, and close within 2, so just give up 6 seconds of your life.
(but if anyone knows how to prevent them on this website and others, I’ll listen!)

I’m hoping I will actually like this and not end up disliking it like many critics. Actually, maybe coming across those reviews is good because my expectations will be lower.
The cast looks pretty good, but kind of teen-movie-ish, with actors who want people to take them more seriously. This will work for SMG and Mandy Moore (because I have seen them in serious and decent roles before), but I’m not too sure about the 3 male leads.
Anyway, Richard Kelly is enough of a reason to give this film a chance.

But i can’t say the same for this.
I gather It’s a STV, As i have never heard of it
I can’t understand why people go to all the trouble to rip a movie
and can’t get the (FPS) right
But use ac3 audio 448 bitrate, Which leaves a poor bitrate for the video and then put it on 2 cd’s.
Where’s axxo, At least he knew how to rip a dvd

Richard Kelly’s overly ambitious follow up to cult hit Donnie Darko is Southland Tales, a film with a lot to say, even more to show and not nearly enough time in its hefty running time to say it all. As a film, Southland Tales is interesting and original, with a surprisingly unusual and compelling cast, in a lot of ways similar to Donnie Darko. But whereas Kelly’s last directorial effort was well plotted and tightly connected from start to finish, Southland Tales is wildly unrestrained with various stories appearing and disappearing at a whim and little connection made between any of them. It’s a shame, as Southland Tales is clearly a project that Kelly was passionate and excited about; you can feel his energy in every frame of the film. But after months of post production problems and studio demands it’s a project he really should have cut his losses on rather than forcing it to fit together. The film isn’t without its highpoints, many performances such as Justin Timberlake as the narrator and Dwayne Johnson as the slightly insane amnesiac action star are worth seeing, but the film itself is too bloated and convoluted to impress anyone except the most ardent Richard Kelly fan.

adblock will not block all the ads. protowall keeps the other stuff from getting in and throwing popups out at you. google it.

damn… i need subs… i tried to resync the subs of the cam version but they sucks. it’s kinda translation of spanish subs… i get crazy to read something different to what the actors say… [just because i understand 7 words out of 10, and the three i miss are always the most important]
