Soulfly - Conquer [2008]

Guess who’s back? Back again? Yeah I’ve been undercover for a while but I am back just in time to bring you this Metal release. I myself don’t listen to Soulfly, I actually dont even like them but I know a lot of you guys do and thats what I post for :)

Gotta quote In Flames in this moment btw.:
“I refuse, to let you steal my daylight!” ;)

You remember these guys from the 90’s… I guess they don’t listen to Jesu because the title’s a ripoff.
The Soulfly tribe is once again on the warpath!

Soulfly’s sixth offering for Roadrunner Records, Conquer, may very well be the musical equivalent of the movie Braveheart. The songs much like the warriors in the film- channel raw, unbridled rage through a cacophony of thrash guitars, infectious grooves, tribal polyrhythms and Max Cavalera’s unmistakable, thunderous roar. On this record, Soulfly unleash a metallic mayhem unlike anything they ve done previously. Conquer shifts from unrelenting, precise speed metal to slow, brooding doom. Marc Rizzo’s lead guitar rips with the precision of a smart bomb, while Bobby Burns grinds out volatile, chest-caving bass lines. Drummer Joe Nunez crushes behind the kit, forging a rhythmic background for all-out sonic war. Once again, it s the legendary Max Cavalera who stands at the eye of the storm, uniting the musical tribe and acting as its unofficial leader. His voice and guitar command the tribe into battle with each line and riff. Grab your war paint and prepare for the onslaught.”

I didn’t even know they were coming out with a new one. The Cavalera Conspiracy album that dropped last year was kick ass so I expect the same from Soulfly.

I am not a warez poster, I post news. Imho no need for downloadlinks in posts. Its becoming a bad habit, we should be there only to inform you about releases. You have to find the downloads somewhere else.

Hell Motherf#$*in YEAH… I was just jamming their new track (UNLEASH with guest vocals from lead singer from Throwdown, who btw sounds like Phil Anselmo) off MySpace for the 100th time. Props to Max and Buy this album when it really releases! I wonder if there are still tickets to the D-Low Fest in August, anyone know? cuz n-mex aint too far from tex for me too take a greyhound bus to that show. I’m planning seeing BTBAM in nashville in august as well so that’ll be a metal month.I can wait for the link, I’m just psyched that it’s up.

To writer, Jesu’s album was called “Conqueror”, therefore not a rip-off. One title is a verb while the other a noun.

This album is seriously good; I’m listening to it now..I was a Sepultura fan from the beginning, up until Max left the band..I never “got” Soulfly before, honestly, and never really liked the new Sepultura much..THIS is good, I didn’t know Max could still sing like that..this combined with the Cavalera Conspiracy album I just got makes me happy..
Thanks RLSLog, I had no idea that the Cavalera Conspiracy existed nor that Soulfly were still active.
I’ve been listening to less metal these days because there are not many releases that match up to the old-school stuff :)

I’d actually recommend to those that are interested to have a listen to Jesu. The album Conqueror(not Conquer) was a fantastic album. To get an idea of the genius of Justin Broadrick you just need to understand this is a guy that was in the original Napalm Death and started Godflesh. His pedigree speaks for itself.

Though be warned children this is not Soulfly, sounds nothing like it, it’s actually rather f@&king good!

    HELL YEAH!!

that just made my day, still remember Max Cavalera going “ROOOOTS!! BLOODY ROOOOOOOOTS!!” back in the day, 12-13 years ago.

Great post, rlslog, and i absolutely agree with your review of the album. And if you’re a fan of old-school sepultura, you should also check out the Cavalera Conspiracy, which came out a few months ago.

@ Over, Reeged and all other people
All people post links. In comments too. It’s stupid to make something good forbidden. Links are improvement to Rlslog. People visit Rlslog because of our links and because we give good descriptions of movies, games, apps and other. Rlslog is for links and torrents. We are not warez we are only messengers- pointing where files can be found. Linking to torrents is considered as warez acting too…

@ Over- ”I am not a warez poster, I post news.”
Show me your journalist degree!!! :-D

this is purely from the heart.
    @20 + @23, “albumf” + “antzology” ((I hope y’all f$#*in read this.)
This band has been going strong and stronger since the start you need to expand yor hoizons to something newer or else you’ll be listening to bands that are dead and YOU WILL NEVER make it out to a brutal (current) metal show (sad…), and if you are american than suck a chode for not already jamming soulfy. (i’m american too.) and if your anywhere else,… than Soulfly goes there, they go nearly verywhere. They go to countries everywhere from here to the black void for usually less than 25 U.S.D. Look em’ up.
    next…
@23 - J-Sin - Darn good point, take that RLSLog poster “Over”

Not as hard as “Dark Ages” but definately not weak like the earlier efforts of soulfly. But in the end the album rocks. Good to hear Max got his head out of his butt and started making metal again.
