Soul Caliber Broken Destiny EUR PSP-iND

Image hosting by PHP5 Image UploadHere is Soul Caliber for the PSP.  There are plenty of characters to choose from and should be the first decent fighting game since Tekken to play.  The PSP has been lacking in games but this game along with the upcoming Gran Turismo (Oct 1, 2009) should give you good enough reason to blow the dust off and fire it up.  Enjoy!

Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is the latest entry in the Soulcalibur series, the premier weapons based one-on-one fighter. Broken Destiny is the series’ first release on the PSP system and is the first ever portable iteration of Soulcalibur to date. Robust and challenging single-player modes, head-to-head multiplayer and gorgeous visuals make this a must-have for any fighting game fan!

It won't work on modded or hacked PSPs right now because this game requires the 5.55 version of PSP firmware. The release of the Custom or Hacked 5.55 firmware will be released this week. Look for PSP CFW 5.55 MX.

    - PSP Phat or PSP Slim with 3.52 M33 or higher.
    - PSP battery thats at least 78% full
    - Disable ALL plugins.
    - Back up your save files (so that if they get corrupted, you still have backups)

Sadly, the staff here didn't look to see the special conditions required to run this. So here we go.

First of all, you need a PSP FAT. This will NOT run on a Slim. Sorry. No doubt there will be a version along later that will run on the Slim, but this is not it.

On the Fat, you must be running custom firmware 5.50 GEN B (Full). If you're running anything less, this will not run.

Next, you have to fully power off your PSP. Switch it back on whilst holding down the right shoulder button. This will start up the Recovery Menu. Make sure the settings are as follows:

Advanced > Advanced configuration > Plain modules in UMD/ISO – Disabled (probably already is, but make sure it is).
    Advanced > Advanced configuration > Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO – Enabled
    Configuration > UMD Mode – Sony NP9660
Configuration > Use VshMenu – VSHMENU

Then just chuck the file in your ISO folder as normal and it will load and run without any problems. But don't waste your time trying to run it on a Slim or a Phat/Fat with anything less than 5.50 GEN B (Full).

VSH menu is enabled, that the disc mode is SonyNP9660

Working on FAT PSP 5.00 M33-6. Here's how:

    1) Open ISO with UMDGen and rename EBOOT to BOOT and BOOT to EBOOT (this is just to circumvent the recovery option)
    2) Connect PSP to PC or your memstick to the PC and delete MEMSTICK.IND and MSTK_PRO.IND (It sounds farfetched, but it ACTUALLY works)
    3) Run game. Push start in the title screen, enter name but DO NOT SAVE when prompted. Now play the game!

I think it's confirmed this method works with the slim too.

  27. kodabar
    September 1st, 2009 | 09:16

    @darkone
This does not run on the Slim. You will be able to get the game to load, but it will crash out when you try to play. You're going to have to wait for a version that will work with the Slim.

the ORIGINAL ISO which is not playable on CFW has size 859 MB (900,923,392 bytes).

the HACKED CSO which WILL RUN on phat or slim CFW has size of 346 MB (363,323,392 bytes).

so look at the size of file you are downloading, make sure its the hacked version, people have uploaded the hacked version on torrents and upload sites already.

Made a 2-day test on it & it worked so well with my new PSP 3000 w/o changing any configurations. wooh hooh! English! Very Nice! Thanks! With the exception of Dreamcast's Soul Calibur, I'm now complete with my Soul Series collection (still have my Soul Edge for the old PS1) in the Sony consoles (PS1 = Soul Edge, PS2 = SC 2 & 3, PS3 = SC 4 & this for PSP).

Also, the previous one I discarded had a file size of about 342MB zipped (unzipping it turned out to be about 859 MB) so I thought that was the Ripkit one.

Thanks a lot you guys! Jibbz & company, I owe you guys!

    September 3rd, 2009 | 13:12

@59 Yes it does work on Sony NP9660 …. When i tested it i had one of my settings wrong in recovery. It will probably load on most of the loaders

  63. Jibbz
    September 3rd, 2009 | 18:19

    @ jbldread …
The main reason why the untouched ISO is so big is because the UPDATE file is a dummy file , After removing that file with UMDGEN the ISO size drops to half the size. ( Dummy files compress a lot when rar'ed )
