Solo 2006 DVDRip XviD-aAF

solop.jpgHere’s one more movie filmed in Australia. We don’t have many of those, so why not to give it a small support by posting some info about it. Solo is a crime thriller with actors who will be probably unknown for many people, but these actors are very popular in Australia. This movie also won few prizes and competitions in Australia. Quality is standard, 1 CD release.

In SOLO, the first film to come out of Project Greenlight in Australia, COLIN FRIELS plays Barrett, a hit-man for the Sydney mob but, after his latest assignment, which involves dismembering a corpse and dumping the pieces in the harbour, he wants to quit, to retire. Easier said than done. Though the Wood Royal Commission is breathing down the necks of the criminals, Barrett’s boss, Reno, Linal Haft, refuses to accept his resignation. And the crooked cops, led by Keeling, Vince Colosimo, are equally determined that Barrett can’t quit. Barrett is ordered to do one more job: eliminate a young student, Billie, Bojana Novakovic, who is writing a thesis on organised crime and who is getting too close for comfort.

Actually there was a recent release of an Australian movie. A psychological type drama that was shot entirely in a “train cubicle” >>> Last Train To Freo, was suprisingly a good watch.

You’re supporting the movie by notifying everyone that they can download it without paying for it? :P

“…COLIN FRIELS plays Barrett, a hit-man for the Sydney mob…”

That’s quite possibly the funniest line ever

“but these actors are very popular in Australia.”
    … er, no, they’re not.

as an aussie i have to say i’ve never even heard of this movie but it sounds like one of those cheap ‘made for cable’ movies.

LOL I love it how people (mainly Americans) have a very hard time dealing with anything outside of their own narrow view points.

This film was made for $1 million AUD and is a debut for 1st time director Morgan O’Neil. Sydney has a long history of mob related activity and there have been numerous hitman that have made the headlines here – most notorious being Mark Brandon “Chopper” Reed. The infamous blow-torcher and toe cutting hitman from Melbourne (aka Uncle Chop Chop)

So I can understand that a lot of American and Euro audiences would not get the story or the aussie humor or any of the cultural references. However even if you live in the further most region of Alaska and you like “crime” type thrillers, you’re sure to get something out of this film.

I think its quite a commendable effort considering the circumstances in which the film was made. And lets face it – all film directors have to start somewhere. The film did ok at the Australian Box Office and has been getting strong DVD sales according to Empire magazine

Also to the “noob” aussie who commented earlier about never hearing of these actors – So you obviously have not watched TV for the last 20 years or you do not have cable or you don’t know shit about film or your just an ignorant wombat fucker!

Do your homework before you make foolish comments.

    ^^ lol Tubby :)

I didn’t mind this film, but even though it has some good actors that have done excellent things in other movies, the script and direction let it down. I mean, even good actors can only do so much with relatively poor dialogue.

If you are from overseas and only ever saw Colin Friels in Dark City, consider watching some of his other Aussie stuff before this one.

Feel a bit sorry for Vince C getting pogoed into his role, too :) I think this one would have been a lot better with unknown actors, rather than ones we’ve seen so good in other roles.

Tubby Batfukk is clearly an american trying to act aussie, but I’m afraid you fail it my friend, if you called someone a “wombat” they would probably laugh at how much of a fag you are.

Also I’m also Aussie, and although I kind of recognize some of the faces I wouldn’t have a clue about the actors, not much their names, so again you fail.

Try get some internet research done on that topic, instead.

“the “noob” aussie who commented earlier about never hearing of these actors”
….. probably grown up on a diet of American crap! He’ll probably know the actors once they get in a “Crappywood” movie.

Plenty of good Aussie movies out there if you look. Lantana for one and David Wenham was great in Getting Square.

Actually lol I am an aussie. Living in Sydney so go put your shrivlled dick into a can of Fosters and see how long you can hold your breath. Or better yet, go jump off the cliffs at North Bondi, put yourself and the rest of us out of misery – do something useful with your life.

Step into my office – why?… BECAUSE YOUR FUCKIN FIRED CUNT!
