Wow. Been a while since Slipknot were on the scene (metal scene that is). They toured like madmen supporting their 4th album Vol. 3 (or 3rd depending on whether you count MFKR or not, but that was an awesome album, so I’m definitely counting that) which resulted in me seeing them at least 5 or 6 times on different festivals and concerts around Europe. This new music video was shot in their home state of Iowa. Its a different Slipknot this time around, but I quite enjoy this track.

The music video for “Psychosocial” was shot at Sound Farm studios in Jamaica, Iowa on June 30, 2008. The shoot was delayed due to an unrelated head injury sustained by turntablist Sid Wilson before the shoot, who was subsequently hospitalised. On July 18, 2008 the video premiered on MTV’s “FNMTV” show.[10] The video, which was directed by Paul Brown, was shot using high-end cameras which shoot 1,000 frames per second and are contrasted with traditional 35 mm hand crank camera equipment.

    Haha, I heard that this was released and saw it on you-tube… then came here and found a HQ version posted. Really looking forward to the new album.

    MFKR is definitely considered an album in my eyes.

    As much as a fan of Slipknot I am, that was one of the worst songs I have EVER heard. It has not enough depth to it at all. It’s all to repetitive as well. Really not heavy enough at all. I hope the new album is better than this.

    emo came about in the 80’s, long before slipknot were put together by a record company.

    I’ve just had a listen Slipknot_-_Psychosocial-Promo_CDM-2008-MOD and the title track sounds nothing like slipknot (which is a good thing); first korn get better and now slipknot - nu-metal seems to finally becoming of age.

    IMHO - I wish they would lose that soft, boyband-ish voice… it can destroy a great song real easy. And it would be nice if they would incorporate more brutality, anger and raw power. Also lacking some heavy drums.

    Wouldn’t mind if they leaned more towards Death Metal. I liked them about 10 years ago, but now i think they are way to soft. But maybe that’s just my taste in music that has changed..

    This video is the “single version” meaning the heavier breakdown part’s have been removed!
    Check out the album version it’s longer and louder!!

    Slipknot have 3 drummers.. and Joey Jordison is a CRAZY good drummer who wipes the floor with most other metal drummers.

    You can’t judge from ONE leaked track in crappy quality

    I’m of the opinion that if you want to criticize a band for their sound or type of music they play, you should be prepared to back it up by showing how it’s done. The majority of people I hear calling certain types of music crap or dissing a band don’t even know the difference between an e string and an a string. And for those that are musicians I say “well your band isn’t going anywhere so you must suck even worse”

    Not saying he’s a bad drummer, he IS talented. And as i said: i liked them 10 years ago & have listen to them now & then since then, so i’m not ‘judging from one track’.

    Listen to some great Death & Black Metal and compare, and you will know what i mean. Can’t resist to mention one great name though: George Kollias. I know Slipknot are not supposed to be DeathMetal, but it would be nice if they took that step… :o)

    slipknot IS great — and this is coming from someone who loves and is virtually tolerable to all genres of music (with the exception of polka and country)… psychosocial sounds to much like a stone sour production though. i hope the album is a success and worth the purchase tho… thanks for the video links guys
