Sevendust-Alpha-2007-SAW

Alpha is the new album from hard rock band Sevendust, which seems to be pretty popular lately. You could have seen many rock albums at Releaselog in last few weeks and this one continues this row – it isn’t because I like rock, but there simply aren’t other extra popular albums, apart from few VA compilations…

Alpha, the new album from Sevendust due out March 6, 2007, marks the bands sixth studio album and a return to its origins for the band members and their legions of followers. Sevendust found themselves right where it all started in their hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Crammed into the same rehearsal-writing room at RTM which spawned their ground breaking 1997 self titled debut containing classics like “Black,” and “Bitch.” There in the humble beginnings and stomping grounds where it all began, they brewed up twelve woven tracks blending in a new innovative crunch with that infamous, ferocious throat. Gone are the acoustic guitars and overt electronic inflection of the last couple records and reenter the raw honest complexity of the Home years.

Recorded at Tree Sound Studios with long time friend and co-producer/engineer Shawn Grove, Alpha was born. Indeed conceptual in nature, Sevendust explores the recesses of the mind and the torturous conflict within the question, Can I possibly continue, or…? Deep are the extremely personal revelations inscribed upon a raw and uncompromising landscape that is, Alpha. From the blood-curdling vocal introduction of the first track “Deathstar,” the listener knows it’s old school Sevendust on a collision course with a fresh burning ingredient to obliterate, even if the victim may come from within.

Oh, wow. Another Nu Metal album about suffering, aggression, and our old pal burning.
These guys are treading new territory, I tell you.
I bet there’s a lot of melodic screaming and breakdowns.
I can’t wait not to download this.

so true z3r0n3…listened through the album and it’s nothing new. Then again a lot of people still like this stuff.
So if you like nu metal and bands like Slipknot, Adema and Stone Sour, you might like this one too…or not

I hate to let all the haters in on the secret, but sevendust was playing this kind of music before anyone ever heard of Nu-metal, which I am not particularly fond of. At any rate, I saw the last two shows they played here in the ATL, and aside from a delay caused by the opening act at the most recent one, they blew me away. Every time. No one sells it like Lajon.

if you guys claim that it’s nothing new, then why the hell do you guys even both with listening to music. everything has been done already, NOTHING is EVER new anymore. it’s about being the best at what you do, at the genre you play. suffering and aggression. every band on the planet has some songs like this. just like they do with religion, love, happiness, sadness, plagues, new-world order, alcohol, sex, cars, money, rock n roll, relationships… everything has been sung about once upon a time guys.. let it go, if you don’t like the band then get out of their section and stop leaving bad feedback… go cry about bands you actually like.
