Server under attack
We’re experiencing heavy DDoS attack on the server running NewTorrents.info, RLSLOG.net and some other websites. This is causing timeout errors and other unexpected problems. I’m trying to stop this ASAP, but this isn’t run by some script kiddie, it’s a real deal. Please stand by…
UPDATE (20:25):
It’s more than obvious now this is a Distributed Denial of Service attack. This HTTP flood targets url www.newtorrents.info/rss.xml - which is normally RSS feed, but this time it’s just a static target of an attack and I had to temporarily disable it. The deleting of this file can’t help, as it’s really huge attack from thousands of IPs, consuming almost all net connection and server resources. I’m almost sure it’s lead from some pretty huge botnet over IRC, either by some competitors or some scene people. Here are two images, first one showing unexpected rapid growth of server’s traffic captured from MRTG, the second image just lists some HTTP connections - 95% of them are for one file…

I’ve banned over 1000 IPs and there’s no change at all, may be it’s getting still worse and worse. I just wonder why do they (who r they?) choose this site and not some tracker, which is way more responsible for anything they don’t like. we are just indexing some kind of torrents, there are tons of bigger websites doing this

banning ips wont help at all, you might need to ban subnets or ip ranges… :> but with these comes a price, you end up blocking innocent people as well. There is no defense against these attacks.

Being elite I remember became a joke a few years back. Around when I asked The Humble Guys for an 8*10 glossy. They were the first group that shared their releases with the world - and rival groups via couriers. Spreading files so fast that other groups released lamely slow.
Seems some peoples heads have turned back the clock, pathetically trying to achieve some kind of apartheid.
I remember being surprised when I first read that some groups didn’t want me to access their ware from p2p. But then like Martin I was also surprised by the nonsense going into some groups nfo’s. Maybe they see it as funny but they are stupid and will die, top site access or not.

Backtrack the ip’s through the proxy cause its obviose that they are using one and yes it is comeing from a irc because of consistency of the attack. Look into that and im sure youll find out some more info
For got to mention if you ddos the bot that is hitting you . You should be able to corrupt it. This is not scene ppl. Yes they hate how there stuff hit the net but this is not there style they hit hard and hit to kill not to just annoy this is a petty hater running scripts from a offshore spot. I recomend you hire your self a hacker. If not this will probly just continue
