Send A Bullet 2007 DVDSCR XviD-VoMiT
Controversial documentaries like Sicko are always a great impulse for neverending arguments and lively discussions. A new movie Send a Bullet (Manda Bala) filmed by director Jason Kohn will probably rise a lot of emotions as well. This documentary inspects corruption and class warfare in Brazil, which is little specific but still quite an interesting topic. VoMiT released this dvd screener with cropped bottom, which contained hardsubs, so you will miss a part of the image, but it’s still very watchable.
Explores the cycles of violence that plague Brazilâs upper and lower economic classes in fits of rampant corruption and violent kidnappings. These cycles are chronicled utilizing personalized stories that reflect the growing truth about Brazilâs huge economic disparities–differences that cause violence on both sides of the spectrum. A frog farm connected to a corrupt politician and one of the most powerful men in Brazil; a kidnapping victim who had both her ears cut off before she was released to her parents; a wealthy plastic surgeon who pioneered the procedure used to reconstruct the ears of kidnapping victims; and a kidnapper who has watched many like him escape the poorest parts of Brazil for the wealthier Sao Paolo, where they terrorize the upper class with kidnappings, theft and murder.

Hi,
does anyone got an working link/torrent for “Bus 174″, another acclaimed brazilian documentary. The director recently produced the highly controversial “Tropa de Elite” (winner on several festivals), which will get a TV spinoff soon.
props ff
We want more brazilian movies here!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice to see some brazilian stuff around…
great post. thank you.
Subtitles anyone?
Hi evryone.
I’m brazilian. It’s nice to see that many people enjoyed our movies. Tropa de Elite is a very nice movie. Make you think about the use of drog that sustein the violence. If you use drugs you become responsable for all the chain behind.
I think that you can find torrent of this movie at the net, but subtitle I’m not sure
More brazilian films. Right now it is home for some of the most interesting and original films around. Less North American stuff (most of it is crap anyways) and more “food for your brain” films. Thumbs up for all Brazilian people reading the blog!!!
@Johnny

Sorry to burst your bubble but”Send a Bullet” is a U.S. made film, by an American director…
WTF is Brazilâs? Brazilians?
Thanks Johnny.
@15- Bus 174 is frequently replayed on the Sundance channel, and I haven’t seen a torrent for it in years.
Here is a torrent for the similar, albeit feature film, Tropa de Elite:

@22- Johnny, with respect, North American films are what power the film industry, with the greatest amount of variety ever seen.
I’m very glad a Brazilian doc is getting its due here, but there’s no need to tear down the reputation of one, to build up another.
FWIW, I lived 10 years in Brazil. I’m very grateful to Martin for posting this.
I know someone already pointed out that, but: IT’S NOT SAO PAOLO, IT’S SAO PAULO!
So tired of Brazilian movies showing violence.. Brazil is a big country, with really nice people, it’s not just violence everywhere.. Carandiru, City of God, Tropa de Elite, to name a few… now you can’t even remember what they were about, cuz they’re all about the same SH**IT !
Anyone have any english subtitles for this since i presume they aren’t hardcoded and don’t appear to be included in the torrent ?
thks

Reason why it does not reflect what is Brazil, the people and the culture. Likewise, another crap example: Turistas.
If you wanna know more about Brazil, the real one, and not the violence, which is present everywhere around the world, from US unis to …, the documentary Discovery Atlas: Brazil Revealed.

@33&38:
O.k., I have mailed you my credit card numbers and bank account info, and I have installed your keylogger. That was really easy
! So how do I get the all the money now?
The email address you gave me bounces.
I am so happy! This is a sure fire deal! I feel it! This has to be right! Even my dog agrees (and she is sooo sceptical, normally).

RIGHT – as long as pretty much every nation on planet earth has these puritan abstinence drug laws that the United States do impose on the rest of the world since about 1920, since then drug use is inseperably connected to buying drugs at hilarious prices from violent criminal gangs with white collar bosses.
Totally WRONG – human beings all over the world use psychotropic substances (”drugs”) for thousands of years. Have used, and will continue to use. Most of the time drug use has been integral to social culture, and also to personal recreation. Don’t get me wrong: mindless use of psychotropic substances can and most probably will endanger body and soul. Even educated use of some substances can still be somewhat risky and needs a lot of knowledge, self-awareness, and respect towards the mechanisms behind addiction.
But the amount of misery, disease, incarceration, broken families, battered childs, reckless acts of burglary, robbery, and other crimes, wealthy crime syndicates, corruption in police, law, administration, and politics, etc. pp., all that is mostly due to fưcked up drug policy.
“War on drugs”? Geez! Even elephants get high on fermented fruit. Drug use is everywhere. Has been. Will be.
Education and moderation is helpful, but disinformation and prohibition is deadly for the population and only really helpful for organized crime.
#32, thanx for the sub link, however; I grabbed a 2cd version of Tropa De Elite R4 rip but no english subtitles…
Does anyone know where I can grab a 2cd version?…all of the 1cd sub files that I tried are outta sync and I really wanna watch this flick…
whats the pass on the first set of links ????
dont matter no pass lol
WOW! Now I have seen this documentary. This (’Send A Bullet’) is mindblowing. Not that I didn’t know about violence on this planet in general, or about violence in some latin american cities in particular. But getting confronted with images and sounds of the violence of men towards men still puts me off.
Off course the violence I speak of includes politicians like Jader Barbalho robbing the people off billions [10^9] of Dollars and still getting elected for senator. I don’t have to mention that Jader Barbalho owns the biggest newspapers, television, and radiostations in ‘his’ state Para(?).
The pictures, the smiling faces (except the victim who we accompany through her surgery).
That makes me cry. Our politicians and reality in germany is much less painful. But still … we are so similar. Less economical prosperity here, and people change. Not yet nearly so much, luckily for me here in germany or you few in the other less contrasty societies.
Don’t see God is Brazilian (Deus é brasileiro) nor Auto da Compadecida. The first envolves pointless meandering about and the second is horribly done, badly acted and in general just not funny (I’m American but I understand very well Brazilian culture) even though Brazilians will say its good because they like to make fun of Northeastern Brazilians which they do throughout the film.
Lisbela e o Prisoneiro is also a bit low-grade but not bad enough to hate. Another Brazilian one you should leave off your must-see list is Se Eu Fosse Você (If I were you), again not funny and extremely predictable.
What do I recommend? O Cheiro do Ralo, O Ano Em Que Meus Pais Sairam de Ferias, Bossa Nova, Terra Estrangeira, Os Normais, Casa de Areia. None of these contain much if any violence.
Adam, I agree with the movies you recommended, “O Cheiro do Ralo, O Ano Em Que Meus Pais Sairam de Ferias, Bossa Nova, Terra Estrangeira, Os Normais, Casa de Areia”they are indeed all great movies and must sees,
but I definitly desagree with what you said about God is Brazilian. It may not the the best movie ever made in Brazil, but is in fact a great movie and pictures why we often say that god is brazilian. you say you are able to understand brazilian culture, then I suggest you that you once more try to see in a brazilian perspective. There are many interpretation of why “God is Brazilian” for us, complex and simple ones, regarding good and evil, and through the stages of the movie, the beautiful and ugly places and situations that the charactes face, they try to picture them all, including the nonsense and all the folk images brought by the movie.
Auto da compadecia is not my favorite movie either, but it makes sense to me, and problably for mostly all brazilians that were educated in Brazil because we had to read, study and play it school, sometimes in a religious manner, other times in a playful manner, just like the movie.
Again, we may be able to study hard to understand other countries identities, other times we just won’t get it perfectly.
I hope I can help you increase you understanding
by the way have you whatched O caminho das nuvens? Great movie. brazil is much more than the unban stories, much more!
