SECRECY is a film about the vast, invisible world of government secrecy. By focusing on classified secrets, the government’s ability to put information out of sight if it would harm national security, Secrecy explores the tensions between our safety as a nation, and our ability to function as a democracy. From extraordinary rendition to warrant-less wiretaps and Abu Ghraib, we have learned that, under the veil of classification, even our leaders can give in to dangerous impulses. Secrecy increasingly hides national policy, impedes coordination among agencies, bloats budgets and obscures foreign accords; secrecy throws into the dark our system of justice and derails the balance of power between the executive branch and the rest of government.

Yep, the producers of this hit all of you with a inside joke and none of you caught it. The joke is the warrantless wiretaps. See back in 1972, the US Supreme Court (which had the majority of it's members appointed by Democrats at that time) clearly ruled in the Executive Decision, that the President of the US was authorized by the US Constitution in Article 2 under the powers of the office; to be able to wiretap ANYONE who has shown to be working for or suspected of working for a foreign power with the end results being the damage to US Sovereignty or with the results to harm the US. That means that no matter who sits in this office or of what party, they can listen in on any calls or transactions of any citizen or person residing in the US if they are suspected of harboring ill intentions tword the US or it's Citizens. No matter if the call comes from outside the US or inside same. And they do NOT have to have a court order to do so as once the Supreme Court has stated that this is in the Constitution, then the ONLY legal way to change it is by a Constitutional Amendment. These is no law the Congress can pass nor any judges ruling that can change this in any way and be Constitutional. That is why I find it so funny with these "illegal wiretap" statements from the ignorant masses that have not read the Constitution or done the research to see that that statement is three shades of stupid.

Honestly, im comfortable with our government keeping secrets. Hell they bring up the manhattan project in this and kinda hint that it shouldve been kept secret (kinda…. very subtlety) we need this secrecy in some cases it helps a lot and in some cases it doesnt its not black and white. I wish their was a board like the supreme court (not politicians) that were able to review these projects/secrets and decided if they deserved to be kept secret. The main question should be, "does it help the US or help a political party to keep it a secret?"

Also that reporter, i think wall street. Thinks its good for all secrets to be revealed by the journalists phrasing the argument like the goverment thinks it has a right and tries to protect all of its secrets. Our government has crazy amount of leaks, its like a house in a high water table with a sump pump. Again its not black and white, some secrets are good to be aired out some arent.

Does anyone else hope their is some grand plan and the government knows a lot/has a lot more going on then gets revealed?
