It is with great sadness that I have to write this article. The rlslog family has lost a member brother, Sander van den Hout aka ‘Scit‘, one of the most popular staff members here on rlslog being with us for almost 1 year, committed suicide on Tuesday 15th of January 2008. He contributed to the site in so many ways, not just for the 83 excellent posts he wrote for rlslog but for his friendship, comradery and the jokes… good times. He can never be replaced. Our sincere condolences go out to Sanders family, girlfriend and friends, we cannot imagine what this must be like. See you on the other side my friend, my brother… Please honor his memory.

Note: We will begin posting again later this evening, until then let us grieve.

    very sorry to read this.

    So sad to hear the news. Strange that he posted a day earlier… spur of the moment decision? anti-depressants not doing their job? or just true dedication to his work? regardless, a big loss to the site… he’ll be missed. Perhaps a fitting half-mast tribute. Or a day of silence in posts. I figure you guys can do with a break from it all (advertisers permitting). My condolences to the family, friends and colleagues.

    Can’t say I remember his posts, but it’s still sad. But of course, these things happen every single day. It’s hard to be really sympathetic (many people just jump on the P.C. bandwagon when they see things like this) if things like this happen outside your own circle, but for the people who knew him it must be terrible. My condolences to his family and friends.

    I’m very sorry to hear about this, what an incredibly hard thing to come to terms with, I’m very sorry and wish you all peace and healing in time.

    But… why? Not being morbid of course, but I’m sure we, as well as you, wonder how this happened.. why he felt so bad.. so young, at the very beginning of life.

    I hope some understanding comes, to help all his friends and family, and others too.

    Very sad to hear , I have had a friend hang himself over a girl.

    If someone is hurting that much and they do kill themselves then they ave alot of guts to do so I say.

    He must have been hurting pretty bad to go through with it.My friend who did same thing did have problems but we couldn’t have imagined him killing himself.

    I hope where ever Sander is now that he’s at peace and with loved ones who also have passed on into the next life.

    RIP dude, but for some reason, beyond my knowing, it seems that some part of me agrees with #705. I’ve seen this happen in forums and other bbs/irc channels. Maybe we should have family member post some details about it. I’ve googled scits death and nothing has shown up. Usually somewhere, someone, some news agency/reporting has reported this sad day. If you are really dead SCIT, I hope you well and if you are not dead but instead have killed off your screen name, then shame on you, for it is misdemeanor and unjust.

    Sorry to hear about your loss, it’s never easy to lose someone close to you and I think most people here have been in that situation, may he be at peace and its nice to see so much respect over the internet for a change, if you know of a friend or a loved one feeling down talk to them as we are all only here for a short time.

    I have thought many times to take my own life, somehow through all this irrational thinking I realized that that would just about kill my entire family anyway from all the pain I would have caused. As rough as it seems I realized it would have been very selfish of me..
