It is with great sadness that I have to write this article. The rlslog family has lost a member brother, Sander van den Hout aka ‘Scit‘, one of the most popular staff members here on rlslog being with us for almost 1 year, committed suicide on Tuesday 15th of January 2008. He contributed to the site in so many ways, not just for the 83 excellent posts he wrote for rlslog but for his friendship, comradery and the jokes… good times. He can never be replaced. Our sincere condolences go out to Sanders family, girlfriend and friends, we cannot imagine what this must be like. See you on the other side my friend, my brother… Please honor his memory.

Note: We will begin posting again later this evening, until then let us grieve.

    I would like to offer my condolences to the family, their loss is unimaginable and nothing we can do or say will take away that horrific pain, however we can and must be grateful for what he did for the comunity…may God bless his soul…

    Suicide is considered a crime but we don’t know the circumstances. So, the best thing one can do is to pray for him. I believe prayers coming from all 400 people here shall help RiP’s soul.

    Rest in peace friend, I feel only empathy for his family, i know the pain it brings when someone chooses to go.
    As someone who struggles with suicidal thoughts everyday i know the type of pain he went through, having no one who understands, no one who listens, no one who knows. sadness and sorrow have filled me my heart go’s out to his family … Rest In Peace sander.

    I’m very sorry. He killed himself? You’d think being as he had family and a girlfriend, someone would notice a change in his personality or the way he acted. And I’ve read his last few posts and he doesn’t seem like a person that wanted to kill himself.

    Yes,suicide is a cowardly act but unless you know ALL the details and were in his shoes at the time you have no right to comment. Depression and physical illness are debilitating for the best of us. Cut some slack and let people pay their respects.

    I think if anybody reading these posts is depressed or has any feelings of doing anything.
    Please know there is always people who care about you and love you.
    Feel free to chat with me or any other members of releaselog.
    Everyone gets down once in a while, and it takes guts to admit it to someone else.
    But never bottle these feelings up, talk to a doctor or someone
    you trust.

    This guy’s almost my age and his b-day is 3 days before mine. His death is sad to us and his familly, but it is not sad in and of itself. To attribute his suicide to a defect in character is insulting. None of us choose to be born, yet we arrive. To end it, not waiting for old age or accident is a choice. I praise his choice and I somehow fill with contentment.

    I’m having a hard time believing it. It could be just a sick joke (maybe he chose to leave the site for more important things, college for example), but if it’s true I would have to agree with poster 433, and that instead we should feel bad for his family and friends, for what they would have to go through.
