It is with great sadness that I have to write this article. The rlslog family has lost a member brother, Sander van den Hout aka ‘Scit‘, one of the most popular staff members here on rlslog being with us for almost 1 year, committed suicide on Tuesday 15th of January 2008. He contributed to the site in so many ways, not just for the 83 excellent posts he wrote for rlslog but for his friendship, comradery and the jokes… good times. He can never be replaced. Our sincere condolences go out to Sanders family, girlfriend and friends, we cannot imagine what this must be like. See you on the other side my friend, my brother… Please honor his memory.

Note: We will begin posting again later this evening, until then let us grieve.

    just seen this on rlslog i feel very sad even though i did not know the guy i too have thought of suicide especially when i was younger.now i have my own family and i realise it would be wrong.just wish this guy would of held on a bit longer to realise it too

    for the family.
    As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
    I was so very tired and knew my time on Earth would fade.
    I saw a wonderous image then of a place that’s trouble free
    Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

    I saw the most beautiful rainbow, and on the other side
    Were meadows rich and beautiful-lush and green and wide!
    And running through the meadows, as far as the eye could see
    Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!

    My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
    And I wanted to run with them, but I had something left to do.
    I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I’m alright,
    That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night.

    ‘Twas the glow of many candles shining bright and strong and bold
    And I knew then that it held your love in its brillant shades of gold.
    For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
    We are still connected by a cord that no eye can see.

    So whenever you need to find me, we’re never far apart
    If you look beyond the rainbow and listen with your heart.
    Forever beyond the rainbow, we’ll always be near.

    This is really sad news.

    My father commited suicide and so did his father(my grandfather). So i know the pain suicide can bring to those connected.

    RIP Scit. I’ll be thinking of his family and friends as this is going to be a very hard time for them all.

    I am very sorry to hear that Sander van den has died i have been using rlslog for over 3 years now and i have read many of his posts and he has made me smile many a times i will ALWAY REMEMBER HIM EVEN THOUGH I DIDENT KNOW HIM REALLY STEVEN

    Suicide is usually the result of major depression, and unless you’ve suffered through that, you don’t have the right to spew out platitudes. Anyone who has suffered depression knows the temptation to commit suicide. Don’t be so naive to think he’s a fool because he chose to end his suffering.

    R.I.P Scit…I hope you are at peace now. I’ve felt like this a lot lately. I probably will do the same in the next few weeks. It is not a selfish thing to do. No one else is feeling the pain and unhappiness that you are, and if you decide its too much, then thats up to you. I do feel sorry for his family and friends, but if thats what he wanted then so be it. Scit, I truly hope you are in a better place now…..
