It is with great sadness that I have to write this article. The rlslog family has lost a member brother, Sander van den Hout aka ‘Scit‘, one of the most popular staff members here on rlslog being with us for almost 1 year, committed suicide on Tuesday 15th of January 2008. He contributed to the site in so many ways, not just for the 83 excellent posts he wrote for rlslog but for his friendship, comradery and the jokes… good times. He can never be replaced. Our sincere condolences go out to Sanders family, girlfriend and friends, we cannot imagine what this must be like. See you on the other side my friend, my brother… Please honor his memory.

Note: We will begin posting again later this evening, until then let us grieve.

    Has anyone found why he committed suicide. Doesn’t Rslog staff members know each other to prevent a guy from killing himself………..

    i always am saddend by hearing of suicide, i have seen the effects first hand and its never gets easier :( but with this support i hope his family and friends can find some comfort no matter how little it might be to them :(

    I wanted to add;

    for those who are contemplating suicide , there is the option of seeing a therapist.
    You can talk to a therapist about anything.
    They won`t be shocked , they won`t judge you.
    Your life might have turned into a mess that you can`t figure out on your own anymore.
    A therapist can help you getting your life back together.

    It`s an option.

    this is my first post ever after at least 18 mths on rlslog and i am moved and concerned by this news item and so very, very sorry for the loss of (i would think) a very significant (and isn’t every one?) life.

    poor sweet kid.

    don’t ever do this to your friends, your family, your lovers, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and most importantly your mum and dad, people. life IS tough and you do only get one chance at it but it can’t get better unless you endeavour to make it better and keep on giving it a shot. no….

    this isn’t coming from some high-flying executive or music/movie star with money or opportunity to burn. it’s coming from someone who was present for spousal-abuse, emotional and physical abuse, broken family, lost and broken dreams and hopes…

    remember. the sun ALWAYS rises. it is always beautiful. tomorrow is another day. things can’t do anything but get better for you, for people around you…. you can’t help but want to help them feel and be better. in turn, you are better in yourself.

    never leave this life behind unless the choice is taken from you through freak accident, disease or age. it’s a privilege you won’t ever have again.

    Forgive me for posting twice but can the inconciderate, ignorent and the foolish who post ridiculous rubbish like “Looser”, “I didn’t know this guy and I’m not sorry for him.” and “Is this better than Halo 3?” please get a nice IP ban? He was not my friend, I didn’t know him but knowing the effect depression can have on people and knowing someone who’s attempted suicide twice I am very offended and deeply hurt.

    I assume any family members or friends reading this would also feel hurt and insulted by the stupidity shown by some of the idiot posters on this board.

    First post here, after I don’t know.. three months of coming here. I’m very sorry to hear about this, but I’m sure he’ll get back on track eventually. The least we could all do is send some positive thinking to him..

    For everyone reading this: suicide unfortunately is not the easiest way out, that is only an illusion. We have come here to live and experience, simply make the best out of this.. accept the “pureness” of whatever you’re feeling. May it be misery, depression, anxiety or joy and happiness. It would be the most beneficial for every individual to just keep going. Either way, it’s all about responsibility in the end.

    Sometimes you have problems. Bigger or less, a lot or only minimal. But if you have problems and you think there’s no solution you might take the easy and the wrong way to get rid of it, but only once.

    You’ve chosen this wrong way and I feel so sad about that. I feel terrible because I think of my best friend. He comitted suicide in 1999. He wasn’t able to let us help him. He told us nothing before. And one day his mother called, looking for her son. That was the day we felt something must be wrong.

    Anyway… you did it. You left this world and we stay here on earth with a lot of questions. Why? Wherefor? What was the reason?

    I hope they left you through the gate of heaven.

    And I hope you’ll find a lot of friends there.

    We keep you in mind.

    My condolences to his family. My eyes watered when I heard this. Man, he’s only 20 years old. He’s still a kid. I can imagine the massacre his family’s in right now.

    Can someone please tell us the reason for his suicide ?
    Dont keep us all in the dark. Unless its private matters ( which I dont think needs to be hidden ).

    Thing is, dying is a necessary thing on our planet, imagine people not dying, finding a parking space would have been impossible, So usually when someone over 70 or so dies of natural causes i think its stupid to be sad about it, but when a young kid commits suicide, scares me, makes me sad for my kids, whats gonna happen to them?, suicide?, i hope they wouldn’t get there, especially if it brings so much attention, over 1000 comments, “WOW”
