Experienced group REMAX releases a new documentary series off of the BBC. With humans sharing the planet with over 20 million species, most of them are of little importance to us in our daily lives. But we, are important to them. Because many of them have to live in an increasingly human way. Our species has radically changed the landscape of the planet, and now we have the power to either eradicate or preserve a species.
Saving planet Earth’s wild life has never been more urgent. Host David Attenborough asks the questions – what does our over consumptions mean for the rest of the Earth’s species. In just 80 years, human population has more than tripled: from 2 to 6.5 billion, and in the next 50 years is set to grow to 9 billion. With the ever increasing economies and standards of life in developing nations like India and China, they want to consume like North Americans and Britains. And that would set the Earth to a tipping point.
All the animals you’ll see over the course of the series are disappearing because of one species – humans. We know we are using more than our fair share of the Earth’s resources. And we must now redress this imbalance. Any effort to do so, no matter how big or small, is valuable. If we wish to ensure a future for all life, on Planet Earth.

hey, the statement about indians and chinese isn’t in good taste.america consumes everything more than any other country in the world, even though their population isn’t on the top.the developed countries waste resources on shitless number of useless items.they hold formula one races and nascar which consumes enourmous amount of fuel and produces pollution.they fight war in iraq and afghanistan and drop tonnes of bombs, isn’t that bad for the environment?hypocrite assholes.

The only way to save this planet is to wipe out 99,999% of the human population. More and more people are becoming ‘luxury’ consumers, people who contribute way to much to polution. None of them are willing to give up even an inch of their lifestyle, you all included. Switching to a new type of lightbulb isn’t doing anything except giving a false sense of accomplishment. So, massive culling or just waiting it out.
I haven´t seen this docu yet, but BBC always make good docus and I doubt this one is an exception. Thanx BBC =)

I don’t really see why America is the only one at fault here?
It’s the fault of us all, and China & Co are rapidly growing in economical strength, thus they consume more electricity, burn more fossils, require more land .. cultivating large areas, taking away precious land from wildlife, cutting down forests,…. And don’t forget that most of the ppl in these countries are poor and don’t give a rats ass about most of the animals living amongst them, they just want to survive themselves and protect their crops. And they seem to reproduce like rabbits! It seems mankind was the worst part in the entire evolution of living species on planet earth. I can only see controlled birth as a solution. And if we don’t protect the earth’s beauty we will all be doomed eventually (which maybe isn’t a bad thing)

Did anyone else think of Captain Planet when reading the title of this release?
Funny how some people swallow whatever a “scientist” and their goverments give them as truth. Watch the BBC’S “The Great Global Warming Swindle” (available on YouTube and Google vide) for some eye opening facts about the myth of “man made” global warming (yes, global warming is real though it is NOT caused by humans). Before you happily agree to more taxes and sign away your rights in favor of reducing emissions, at least know all of the facts.

If American were nuked out of existence who would Europe have to blame for every ill, real or perceived? My god, could you imagine? Europeans might have to look at themselves and their long, bloody history of war, hatred, bigotry, and their wanton raping of every corner and peoples of the Earth they could get their filthy, greedy hands on.
No, be grateful the Americans are around the blame, Europe having to look at itself for the real root of it, and much of the Earth’s, myriad problems is far too horrible a thought to contemplate. Much nicer to be able to blame it all on someone else, then you don’t have to actually face your own responsibility and maybe have to — the horrors! — do something.

Americans consume a lot, yes but I have greater fears for the future. There is a greater enemy looming in the shadows.
China! – The Ching Chongs have a fast rising economy, over a billion people verses 300million and the desire for materialism and wealth. The pollution output will be ten fold and their crappy quality controls will not be implemented so easily. They have poor human rights and a history of animal brutality and general low empathy towards them.
Dssentially the majority of americans are from european descent. They just brought over african americans on ships to be used as slaves. The word american is used because essentially america is a melting pot of nationalities.
Its not the same as someone being swedish, who will usually have blonde hair. Americans can range from white, black, korean, chinese, indian. A whole range of races.Americans dont have a sense of history in that way like europeans.
Europeans have a whole load of culture and history.
But the good thing about america is that it is a country that has been through the shit and came out the other end.
