Sango 2-SKIDROW

Group SKIDROW released this night a low budget game with simple graphics. Only recomended for strategy lovers.

Sango 2 is a historical war game based on the Chinese classic, Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Rewrite the history of the Three Kingdoms era by playing as the ruler of one of the great nations, such as Liu Bei, Cao Cao, or Yuan Shao. There are three campaigns to choose from, representing three different time periods to reshape.

Your mission is to expand your nation, take control of all twenty-eight castles, and reunite China. People from Chinese history are your subjects and your enemies. Take advantage of the intelligence of a famous advisor, and the combat skills of a famous general. Use Sun Tzu’s military strategy on the battlefield and when dealing with enemy nations. Challenge yourself and see if you truly understand the Art of War.

    @Wankstar…

    What an appropriate name. Do you have nothing better to do than make completely pointless remarks like that? Why waste the time and energy to type that drivel? You probably go through the new releases just to see which ones you can dis. At least show some gratitude for the completely free service that’s offered here before mouthing off uselessly. What a loser.

    Damnit, I was hoping for it to be a fighter…

    See, back in like 1993 or something alon gthose lines, there was a supppa cool game - Sango Fighter, and it had exactly those characters as seen on the pic as fighters, God it rocked.

    I love every thing related to the Three Kingdoms. I just want to try it, but seems to be less than romance.

    @Wankstar

    Maybe if you had included reasons why it sucked then maybe you wouldn’t have gotten those remarks from daeghran. Saying something sucks without backing it up with valid points is hardly a critique

    ..and “little boy”? hahaha classic. your rants make you look like a little boy

    I don’t know if this is any good but if you guys wan’t a good strategy series that is in the three kingdoms. Look for the “Romance of the three kingdoms” game series for playstation 1 and continued on to the ps2. My fav was both the 8th and 9th one. THere up to 11 I think now.

    Looks good, a bit like Warhammer Dark Omen crossed with the Total War series. Tactical battles with hero units. Will give it a go.

    For those wondering, this game most closely resembles a very hardcore version of Medieval Total War, the first one, not the second one! There is a strategic turn based map where you build armies, develop cities etc. and a tactical real time battle system like MTW, complete with 2D sprites on a 3d background.

    Unlike the Total War series, the game is hard to get a grip with initially, the interface is very antiquated and its hard to do things easily.

    For me though the good outweighs the bad by miles! The game is hardcore, and exceptionally detailed. The army construction is very precise, having to pick how many men, assigning a general from a list that complements the type of army made, ie. having a cavalry man in charge of spearmen is a bad move, but sometimes you don’t have a choice if other generals are dead or used. You can also auto create armies and the AI seems to do a decent enough job from what I saw so far. You can also automate city production and army creation and even have particular cities create and send out armies without your intervention. The battles can be chaotic, but are fun to have comments by the various generals at key moments that tell you they have to withdraw or that an enemy is approaching a flank.

    By far the best thing is that in this game you have SUPPLY!!!!No longer can you just build an uber army and conquer territory thousands of miles away without any supply or attrition problems like in the Total War games, which for me made them both too easy and incredibly unrealistic. Here you can’t just siege a city and wait for it to die out like in Total War. Here you are much more likely to die out long before the defenders if you don’t adequately prepare. The weather, mountains etc, all also have an effect on your troops!

    Anyway, if you are expecting MTW 2 style presentation you will be massively disappointed. But if you like hardcore strategy games with a high learning curve, made higher because of the old interface, and a great depth of strategy then you should give this a try at least. I think its a very good game in its genre.

    Seems Fun. Being a Chinese in the UK, I haven’t gotten quite in touch with my roots. This game seems to be trying to capitalise on the 2 Three Kingdoms films coming out (one already came out, the 2nd is by John Woo and pred for release before the Olympics start).

    After playing a bit more, there are many more great features. You have to look after general loyalty and there is a lot of detailed diplomacy too, much more than the ‘accept my offer or die’ of the Total War games. A cool thing is that even in one particular campaign where it seems that the biggest faction is clearly going to win easily, I have found that the 5 smaller factions tend to ally and harrass the big one and make the battle much harder than it first seems. Never could see in Total War a nation with 20 or more cities find trouble against a motley bunch of nations with maybe 10 cities between them.
